Personally I don't care much about his previous experience. I do care that he seems to have been overmarked and I do find his attitude most unappealing.

The big question is, why do the producers want Matt to win?

I still think Matt should have been out after he tripped on the save me skate.

That aside, I cannot stand his arrogance, his cocky attitude, his expectations of getting high scores every week and the over marking from the judges is ridiculous.

I was gobsmacked when Karen marked Beth down, i.e. not fpgiving her a 10, her flying routine and performance was so much better than Matt's.

DOI is getting more like the Fix Factor every week, completely producer led and utterly shambolic. There is little wonder it's haemorrhaging viewers.

He will win, it's been a foregone conclusion since he got saved over Shayne, it's written in the ice!

Add to that his completely OTT reactions to his scores and getting through each week jumping up and down and gesturing like a lunatic.I found it totally disrespectful last week to the others still waiting in the line up since they got called first total arrogance and even just getting each score from the judge seems to need to merit over exagerrated responses.

I just hope the public see sense and don't vote for him just because he is another soap boy. Would love to see Beth win so keeping fingers crossed she can do it.

Indeed its bizarre why not. The skills used to give them a weekly target, allow some drama whether they made it or not, and the routines built up content over the weeks. Once they learnt to spin or something , there was the potential to add more spins or go faster in subsequent weeks. Now you just have to watch carefully to note that Beth did a spin here and a jump there early on and got no credit for it, while other people still couldn't do it now. The girls now can't get credit for doing the tasks better than the boys, and they end up doing more lifts instead. It just means the males will get more marks for skating around more , as they can't do many lifts, and the girls to do a limited range of lifts because T and D can't think of any new ones.

But surely it should be based on ability and not humbleness, I agree that he is a bit stage school, but if you judge it on an ice skating show, then he is good

Beth was outstanding, I can only think they market mat up and beth down is to make it look closer than we know it is. I think Beth is the best - they keep on about her expression, but Matt just looked blank.

Agree with all you say, the bias/FIX on DOI this year, gets more like watching the big brother producers at work!

Not so bothered about Matt as some but I do think he should have gone after falling in the SO, most definitely. I think he's good but as I and others have said before, his posture is bad and for many weeks his footwork was pretty poor even Robin commented about him needing to improve his technical ability a few times early on but his footwork is still is poor at times. They should mark him down on that. None of them have ever mentioned his posture. I think the judges have not commented on lots of things this series that they have done previously particularly with regard to Matt and Samia. In the past Robin has said to people that he wants to see more solo skating from them after the first week, it took him to about week 3 before he levelled that comment at Samia. As for Karen I couldn't believe her giving Beth half a point less than Robin. I'm not good at remembering details but I know throughout the series I kept thinking Karen was more generous than the other judges as she often gave half a point more than Robin the rest of the time her scores were the same as Robin's. I don't remember her ever marking lower till this week in fact. That's because there are less people in now so she's got to make sure Beth doesn't score the same or more than Matt; after admitting he was her favourite.

Sorry to buck the trend of this thread, but Matt is the only one I find interesting to watch skate, and definitely his flying routine was probably the first in any series I've actually enjoyed watching. As for his exuberance when he gets good scores - what's so wrong with that? He's enthusiastic and shows it.

Matt's the main reason I've switched off this year, although the whole thing seems to have lost a bit of its sparkle.

His petulant little tantrum and subsequent sulk when he was in the bottom 2 was an embarrassment.

Seems Robin has forgotten that Ray scored maximum points - one of them coming from him.

The judges can overpraise Matt as much as they like - some of us are not easily manipulated.

Somewhere on here (can't remember where) it says Matt previously played Ice Hockey.

I've watched the opening show too and I don't recall Matt saying he's played ice hockey, only that he's been a dancer for 7 years. I've not been able to find anything on the internet either about his alleged ice hockey past.

Several posters have claimed to have vaguely read that Matt played ice hockey, but none have ever come up a link or even the slightest scrap of evidence. If it was true, surely there would have been an enormous thread about it, like there was for Chris Fountain. Nor has anyone explained, however farfetchedly, why the judges would favour Matt, other than they actually believe he's the best. They may well be wrong, but they are hardly fixing things by awarding marks they believe are unjustified. (Personally, I do not mind whichever of Beth and Matt win - -both are enjoyable performers.)

I was astounded at Robin, Karen and Jason saying how Matt was 'the best male flying ever seen' when compared to Ray Quinn's electrifying beautiful magical flying routine what the hell were they thinking ?!?! put Matt and Ray side by side , it would really show up the poor performance and skating skills that Matt really does have.

Yes, they really should lay off the "best ever" stuff.

Beth had a lot of potential as a skater, but they've largelyt wasted it. Once she reached a certain point, they stopped giving her new skating things to do.

And I am getting thoroughly sick of Jason knocking off points for things like what he imagines he can (or can't) see in her eyes.

He and Ashley have ruined the judging for me this year.

he does no proper jumping or one foot spinning which all the other semi fInalists attempt (including Luke)

Matt's new "skills" seem to be more about breakdancing moves and doing roly polys on the ice, not actual skating moves

Karen is thrilled that she is now a "celebrity" she would do anything the producer"s told her to do. Not only that with Karen if your face fits your fine if not then she can be quite ruthless
