Shelves in an oven
Andy Birkenhead

I have 3 shelves in my oven.
If I needed to bake 3 lots of cupcakes at once, can I put a sheet of cupcakes on each shelf, or will the cooking of them be affected ?
As hot air rises, the top shelf will be hotter than the bottom shelf.
If I do have 3 lots of cupcake to bake, I usually do one at a time on the middle shelf, which obviously takes a long time.
What do YOU do ?

Hi Andy. my daughter bakes a lot of cupcakes & she uses two of the three shelves - although she had used three when in a rush & so have I. Just equal out the shelves and as the top ones are finishing swap with the second shelf down - quickly & gently. It should work out fine as long as the oven door isn't open for too long. Then just keep looking through the glass ( if you have a glass oven door that is).

If it's a fan oven, then the heat should be distributed evenly. If not, just swap them round, as Utopian Girl suggests.
