I don't know whether it's because the contestants simply aren't to the standard of previous years, or it's due to a slip in the choreography. I think it might be both.
I don't think any of the finalists are particularly good. Matt, imo, is the strongest, but he's such an

Grr! I don't want him to win, but the others just aren't good enough. It's hard to get enthusiastic about the final when I don't think any of them really deserve to win.
There has not been one performance this year that I would call memorable, unlike previous years when there was at least one performance a week that would really impressive you!
Also, I think the fact that the contestants have to learn a save me skate really takes away from their "proper" performance. I would rather see one, really good routine with lots of complicated moves that the contestants have put all their energy into than see a separate skate for the skate off. I don't know how anybody could have thought making them do separate routines was a good idea.
I was watching videos of past performances before, and they were so much better. Matthew, Jorgie, Chris Fountain, Ray Quinn, Suzanne Shaw etc etc. None of the contestants this year are up to their standard.
I miss the required element from previous years. There's also too much focus on lifts and not enough on proper skating and dancing and footwork. That really gets on my nerves because I'm sick of seeing "skate, lift, skate, lift" routines that don't flow like a proper dance.
I'm not trying to "hate on" DOI. I love the show and want to see it back next year, but this year has been rather lame. I'm disappointed.
Sigh. What does everybody else think?
