People are going on about how Luke got through by 'default' who is to say Luke was in the SO?? , they never made it clear who Gareth would have been up against
Quite. He may well have got lots of public votes, we don't know. Someone said yesterday it was Matt - don't think they knew, probably wishful thinking But it did make me wonder if that's why they didn't announce it

It's a shame Gareth couldn't make the finals, but it's not like Luke knocked him out, it was purely medical, and I for one, would rather watch Luke in the final, than have Gareth risk his health when it could be something serious.
I agree with this wholeheartedly! I'm a big Gareth fan but where's the enjoyment in watching someone you like perform when you're worrying about whether they're up to it throughout?

Luke scored a higher mark in Sunday's skating routine that Kieran Richardson did at the same stage of series 5.

I think Luke probably is the weakest of the 3 finalists. However for someone who isn't a natural dancer I think he's shown enormous improvement over the course of the show - due credit to him for that.

I'd have preferred to see Gareth in the final but the flying scuppered him - such a shame.

Barrowman always comes across as very compettive in anything he undertakes so I doubt that he 'wanted out',

I've heard him talking at conventions etc, and he still sounds a bit peeved about being voted off.

Though he has said that in hindsight getting voted off probably did his career some good because it boosted his profile ; people are still talking about it
Haha - he was certainly very unhappy at he time. I still remember him being interviewed on This Morning after he got voted out & he was having a right strop.

In terms of the more recent series, despite being a Donut, I don't think Donal was better than Luke (Luke's flying routine was far better than Donal's), and I don't think Kieron Richardson was better than Luke either. Kieron certainly had a scrappy quality that Luke shares technically, though some of his performance skills were better - and Luke can handle bigger lifts than Kieron too.

Gary Lucy gets slated mainly because he was eminently forgettable as a person, but I always thought he was a lot better than given credit for. He certainly made the final on technical merit.

I think the difference between Luke and guys like Donal or Kieron is that the latter had far more charm as performers. There's nothing that makes you fall in love with Luke's routines so it's difficult to appreciate the content of them.

this

Luke isn't great but he's improved during the series ... he tries new skating moves ie jumps/spins/spreadeagles etc which Matt doesn't, even though Matt is a stronger basic skater

Gareth was way better than Luke but it's not Luke's fault Gareth had to leave

I remember that and particularly his comment:

" I want answers"

No dear that is not a fact at all, merely your opinion.

The fact is that he is still there!

And in my opinion rightfully so!

I fail to see how Luke has lasted so long - he's an awkward, gawky skater - it's like watching the tin man from the Wizard of Oz. As far as I'm concerned he's in the final by complete fluke.

When you look at how much skating Gaynor actually did I would say that Luke is a lot better than her and she won the bliddy thing!
Is there any need for such outragous language on a public forum

At the time. John Barrowman wasn't so well known (or as camp ). He was fantastic up to that last week when he had a fall in training and seemed to lose his confidence. It was a shock when he was voted off but I agree with you, it didn't harm his profile one bit did it?

I think we should let Luke get on with it. I don't mind him at all being in the final. It's not his fault that Gareth was so ill. He's not as bad as some people are making out. In fact he has progressed further than Matt has I think.

I thought that too. I agree Luke isnt the best but if you judge on who has improved the most over the time it is Luke. Matt could clearly skate at the start. I don't think his choreography has been that challenging every week and he doesn't seem any better than when he first started (in my opinion obviously!) I believe he has been consistently overmarked and never pulled up on some of his issues, like the posture for example, that hunched over look isn't graceful. Both Luke and Beth have had to learn to perform and entertain as well as skate so I would be delighted with either one as winner, the other runner up and Matt third. I don't think Matt would have made it into the final without the consistent overmarking.

It was unfait not to let the competittors and the viewers know who were the bottom two even if there was to be no elimination..

It will come out after the final probably as the voting figures usually get released just after it.

I wonder though if the reason they haven't said is either it was Matt in which case shock the favourite was in the skate off or if it was to stop whoever was there pulling out on "noble" grounds as such i.e Gareth deserved to be there more than them etc etc so I'll just leave type of thing and also perhaps at that point they were afraid of how the reaction in the studio would go. Probably unlikely that they would have reacted badly to being told say Luke and I'm just saying him purely because he was the next lowest should have been in the skate off and is only getting through on the fact Gareth is ill.

It may also have been purely to save the celebs having the I shouldn't be here Gareth should have when they need to be concentrating on what they have to do for the final. They have enough to focus on without any additional trauma.
