They could reveal "a name".

Then when they get back to the TARDIS, his companion asks him "Is that really your real name?"

He replies "No, of course it isn't! Humans are so gullible!"

Remember what dorium told him he will have to tell the truth even if he doesn't want to.
Man whos first rule is " the doctor lies" will be unable to lie to whoever asks him the question.

Realistically, Moffat isn't going to give us a name. He's going to give us the reason his name is hidden. This has been evidenced in his own work.

Sophia Myles' trolling on Twitter reminded me of Madame de Pompadour's line which sums up where I expect Moffat to go with it.

"Doctor Who? It's more than just a secret, isn't it?"

Quote:
“Moffat explains that he added the dialogue because he believes that, as the Doctor does not tell even his closest companions his name, there must be a "dreadful secret" about it.”

Now he's going to explore that dreadful secret. It just doesn't necessarily take a name reveal. Short of which, you know my response

Perhaps he doesn't have a proper name and the reason there are Timelords with titles, The Rani, The Master, The Corsair, is that they were all engineered to take on specific roles and behave in certain ways, and what he's been running from his whole life is the truth that he's not a person with an honorific title, he's an honorific title without a person.

"The Doctor's greatest secret will at last be revealed"

He's been fiddling with history, and is mentioned several times in the Bible?

Either tax evasion - or he got his girlfriend pregnant and legged it - the secret will be the CSA tracking him down

I thought that was cleared up, he simply disagreed with the Timelords and their non intervention. The TARDIS agreed with The Doctor and open the doors for him to view the universe.

I mean his name could be the password to unlock the Time Lock, after all the only people who would actually know his name are trapped within it.

However I think it will simply be why is he called The Doctor

He lost his family in the time war he was probably married to the mother of his children.
He chose the name "doctor" simply because he liked it. Decided while traveling round time and space would use his abilities for good. Try to protect and help the innocent. While battling terrible creatures and doing a lot of running. Saves going to the gym I suppose. Allthough he does have a pool in the tardis so he swims too.

Or by a man with a long scarf, curly hair and a fedora hat. Reminds me of someone but I can't think who...

In rememberance of the daleks the doctor makes references to being there at the beginning with rasilon and omega hinting thatvhe could be 'the other' and there is the deleted alternative scene where he tells davros he is far more than just another time lord, maybe we are seeing a revival ofeelements from the cartmel master plan which would have rolled out in the 1990 series if it hadn't been cancelled

As I indicated before, the Doctor's real, Gallifreyan name can be rendered in the Latin alphabet in a few ways, one of which is as "Dœktähøø". What it translates as is another issue.

I think the name reveal will work in much the same way as the "he finally finds out who I am" River Song reveal. The fact that she's Amy's daughter is a bit of a poor reveal, but coupled with the fact that Amy's daughter was Human+ and had been kidnapped/brainwashed to kill the Doctor it makes it a lot more meaty.

Similarly, it won't be a simple "I'm called Dave, get over it" - I'm guessing we'll hear something along the lines of a dark character in Gallifrey's past who even Timelords were afraid of, and his name will turn out to be the same as the Doctor's name...
