I was thinking earlier, what a money spinner it'd be if there were a patch, like nicotine patches, only it stops people from craving sugary foods (sweets and chocolate etc.), so they don't have that temptation.

I feel guilty because I have quite alot of the stuff, some I got for my birthday or at Christmas and others are favourite brands/products of mine that I've bought, seeing it as me treating myself at the weekend when I go to the shops, given I don't much enjoy my job, I've felt its a nice treat to get myself one or two bits I enjoy (I guess that equates it to comfort eating then?).

I have a dentists appointment on Wednesday morning for a regular check up but im feeling guilty about it - it can't be good to be eating so much. I also have slight suspicions that all the sugar may be making my moods/mood swings worse. Sometimes in the evening when I'm home I eat a bit much, I felt queasy after one too many jelly babies lol cringe its not good but I keep buying the stuff! there's Easter around the corner too

For a while I thought that if I kept it all out of direct sight then I might forget about it a bit more and consequently not feel tempted to eat so often but that didn't entirely work unfortunately lol im not overweight or anything like that either, ive always been skinny which surprises me, given I'm often sitting and eating such things I'd just like to eat a bit more in moderation. I used to snack on more healthy foods and I still do have some dried fruit, bananas etc. but I definitely eat more sugary items in the evening now and when you start, its too tempting to eat too much! there aren't many things I really enjoy though, so in a way it'd feel cruel to totally stop eating any of it, I'd just like to feel like one or two sweets or chocs at a time is enough, rather than have the one or two of them and keep feeling like I must have more until I think OMG how much have I had in the last half hour? and maybe feel nauseous from it it can't be good for you?. Everything in moderation, that's what they say right?...

I find, with chocolate at least, eating the very high cocoa version means you can't eat more than a couple of squares as its so strong.
Its the sugar that you have got an addiction to, find snacks that are lower in sugar (dried fruit is also high in sugar)

I know that, I've been trying. It cheers me up (at least at first anyway) to have some though and sometimes there isn't much else to do to be quite frank

My dad likes dark chocolate but says anything about about 65% is too rich and not much fun to eat lol when he's offered me some, I've found it hard enough trying to break off a square! but im not so keen on dark chocolate. I think my mum mentioned that once about fruit being high in sugar but naturally occuring fruit sugars aren't as bad as products full of more artificial sugar? that does seem too good to be true though.

I have small boxes/cartons of dried fruit with me because where I work we can't really eat at the desk (only discreetly) and I only get a short 15 minute break during my 6 hour shifts, so their handy as they can fit in my pocket and I can have some if I feel very hungry towards the end of my shift. Its hard to find many small snack items I can bring with me and have like that. I mainly eat cereal bars and Kit Kats for my breaks and a banana before starting lunchtime shifts - thats before I get home and feel tempted by the confectionary I have at home oh dear... I changed my diet a few years ago to be more healthy but maybe its not really worked? I try to eat healthy when I can, fruit is the main healthy thing that appeals to me

Sadly fruit sugars are pretty much as bad as any other
However nutionists reckon the good stuff in fresh fruit (vitamins, fibre, minerals) balance this out so fresh fruit is fine. Dried fruit less so as the sugar is effectively concentrated. Also fruit juice can be a bit dubious as it has little fibre so you get the sugar hit quickly.

Have you considered snacking on vegetables? Radish, baby corn, mange tout, peppers?
Nuts (preferably unsalted) and seeds could be better than dried fruit, though they contain a lot of fats so don't go mad on them.
Cereal bars tend to be made with a lot of sugar though I'd think they are better than kit-kats. Maybe crisp bread or oat cakes may be better?
Its not easy to think of 'good' snacks - it maybe better to look at your main meals and think about why they are not seeing you through to your next meal without snacking.

I'd eat more vegetables but its more the practicalities of finding products/items I can get to carry around without getting squashed in my bag for work etc. they don't really sell that sort of thing there.

The problem with things like seeds and nuts is that its easy to get bits stuck in between my teeth as their crooked im thinking of asking if I could get a consultation to see if I can finally get them fixed though... I'd have had them fixed when I was much younger but they said it might not have worked well then. I think dried fruit isnt so much of an issue because its softer? I could be wrong though...maybe I should try that, thanks.

My meals are fairly small, I have to eat early during the week because of when my shifts start, I have to have an early lunch back of 11am before I drive to work and I usually have a banana (for the energy(!)) before starting at noon but I only get the one 15 minute break until I finish in the evening, so I have to eat before driving in or I'd be really hungry (lol). I'd rather eat at home since it means I have less to bring in and we have a full kitchen for preparing food... also I have probably quite a small appetite, so I'm not able to eat very large meals (I feel full quite soon), which I suppose is why I tend to get hungry maybe 2-3 hours afterwards and feel tempted to snack.

At least I stopped eating biscuits - their awful at making you more hungry the more you eat lol.

Thanks for the replies
