Grey samsung d500 (urgent)

Im about to a samsung d500 from the web. Problem is that i want the grey D500 and the shop say that they cant quarantee that i will get a grey one.

But someone else told me that all D500's on orange are grey. Is this right? So there is 100% no chance that i will get a grey one.

Officially yes its grey on orange. However it depends where you are buying from - they could use generic stock if orange stock is low.

Ring round and buy from somewhere else that can gurantee genuine orange stock.....

If you buy a D500 on Orange it will be grey as ALL phones sold for connection to the Orange network are official. Orange is the only network that has the phone in grey.

I have just purchased an upgrade D500 on Orange. Something you should know is that they have altered the software as they do for many handsets. However, for some reason they have removed some of the settings menus. Not sure whether this is deliberate or a mistake but as a result, you cannot change some of the settings. It's a good phone though.

P.S. The grey phone is better than the black as it doesn't show up fingerprints in the same way. The black does look smart but when you compare them, the black looks a bit 80's.

Some companies use generic stock for orange. Since the shop he has spoken to has said they cant guarantee it, I would presume they use generic stock too.

Its well known that Black is the new silver.

I've just had a black D500 on Orange & it's black, I have a problem though the sound through the earpiece on the handset is distorted & my voice keep breaking-up when I record a video, & to cap it all had it since friday 14/01/05 rang Orange to connect they had no knowledge & told me to ring the shop where I got it from "e2Save.com" which I did they said wait 24hrs, still not connected today (monday) so rang them again, they said they would get back to me haven't yet, what would you do?

Ring Orange connections and give them the number on the back of the sim.

Just out of interest, is the phone badged orange?

From what you have said it seems that you have been given a generic D500 with an orange sim card.

No Orange logo on it & any simcard works, ie T-Mobile, O2 & Vodafone, I rang e2Save about this & they tell me all phones are now unblocked even Orange because T-Mobile started issuing phones so that any sim can be used.

BTW I'm sending it back for a replacement

No, thats a generic handset as I indicated earlier in the thread.

Most large shops (eg cpw) carry generic handsets (sim free) that are for use on any network when stock is low.

You may find that in WAP it has 4 different profiles with complete settings, 1 for each UK network (excluding 3 - non 3g handset) - another indication its generic.

Orange handsets are NOT unblocked, they have issued a generic handset to you......

Thanks, I've sent this one back another is arriving tomorrow, the phone is for my wife.

I'm going to upgrade to a D500 & am only 4 months into my contract, Orange say it will cost me £117 to upgrade plus £49 for the D500, they've non in stock at present. I will sell my SE K700i on ebay, we'll see how much for.

Thats cheap, they are over £400 sim free

I quite like them in black, but its true they do show finger prints.

Suprisingly the K700i is over £200 too

Forgot to say I'm on Talk 120 double minutes & I've got to stay on it for 6 months. also it will be direct from Orange so not sim free

Yeah I understand it wont be sim free, but its still an expensive handset no matter where it comes from......

yeah do a search on ebay for completed items.....end price depends to some extent on whether its unlocked too......but you should get at least £100 for it.

I bought my D500 simfree from CPW for £349, stupidly went to the link first who told me no one sells simfree D500's as its a "lame phone" and finding one is about as rare as "rocking horse poo" (bloody Dixons career start rejects)!!! and i should consider the Sony Ericsson T630i as it had just as many features, and lighter aswell.
To all that have one.....how bloomin loud is the add-on speaker!!

on a side note, mine is black, and i have no problems with finger marks on the front, just on the battery panel.

That's the same kind of blurb O2 gave me. I assume it's because they don't actually have many in stock and would like you to buy a phone that isn't selling well (or not aswell as the D500) so they still get your custom.

Is there anyway to get rid of the menu bar on the left side of the screen on an Orange D500, it blocks out the left side of any wallpaper you have & everything looks offset, also the Orange name on the screen is on the right, god knows what Orange were thinking put that thing there totally spoils the screen.
