Goldstein was a hilarious embarrassment tonight.
In a major sulk. Wouldn't listen to any contrary opinions at at one stage shouted at a caller to shut up.
When Cundy is the voice of reason then you know something's gone haywire.
I listened to the first few minutes and thought so too.

This is the trouble with employing juvenile "fans" to chair what is supposed to be a phone-in discussion programme. If the guy in the chair won't allow any other opinion, there is little point in anyone calling.

It is the nature of football I guess..we're all one-eyed and fickle at times.

The incident last night had Man U fans saying never a red card but fans of their rivals saying "you've always got decisions for you" etc...

Yep, I can agree with that. And, a partial view of a match, or incident is fine and entertaining in a discussion at the pub, or with workmates for example.

Where it doesn't have a place I think is in a situation where you invite people to call into a radio show with their opinions - constantly repeating the phone number in portentous tones - only to shout them down when you don't agree, or tell them to shut up. That makes no sense and is a bit offensive I think.

On some other Talksport shows this doesn't happen, even though the presenters are fans.

I think your post is spot on Vic. But I have to say I do find Cundy has improved of late, I never thought I would say that but it appears I may have been wrong, this last happened in 1983

For once the show was very funny a few nights ago.
Jason was telling us all that his dog, as a result of a few incidents involving carpets and nightdresses, had had to go to the vet and as a result of that visit is really an unhappy doggie these days, it was a hoot. Did anyone else hear? Miles better than talking about 'Arry Redknapp, the next King

I thought last night was the mirror opposite of ballboygate where it was Cundy that was going ape & Goldstein ...well he was winding him up even further really.

God knows I have never held back about Cundy on the other place , but to be fair If He could ditch his slavish devotion to Chelsea.....no that's unfair, he's a Chelsea fan he's entitled to that, but he is very frightened to stray from the official players party line, and his refusal to criticise any other professional footballer for anything, get rid of hose & then he'd be a far better presenter.

He'd be far better than Goldstein, who other than bringing the very dubious advantages of having his 'great mates' Noel Gallagher & Ronnie O'Sullivan ringing in every fortnight or so, brings absolutetly nothing to the station.
In a station not reknowned for higher thought, Goldstein lowers the tone with the sort of innuendo that would shame 11 year od boys.

Who would be surprised.
Considering what he wore to his own wedding.

I'm worried, I'm very worried, .... for Sam Matterface, should Manchester United score tonight I just know he'll EXPLODE like a bomb going off like he always does but this time with so much at stake it'll be extra over-the-top and I fear he might have a fatal heart attack or stroke. I hope he's on medication, if not he should see his doctor and get some, I remember well the Manchester City final match of the season last year I thought he might come a cropper then but he got through it thankfully maybe tonight is the night when talkSPORT " Exclusively" have the first ever fatal live commentary.

It's only a football match Smatter, calm down a bit.
And after you typed all of that, it turned out that Nigel Adderley and Alvin Martin were covering the Manchester United v Real Madrid game for talkSPORT rather than Sam, what with them doing extended updates rather than full commentary on the game. Sam will be back tonight doing commentary on Juventus v Celtic with Andy Gray.

Goldstein was a hilarious embarrassment tonight.

I'm not a Sports Bar listener although I am typically listening to the radio at the time it is on, but I could resist tuning in for the first half hour or so last night as I knew the fall-out from AG would give me a chuckle.

I was going to post pretty much exactly the same thing you have, he just couldn't accept that for some fans (including neutrals like me) the sending off was not "the worst refereeing decision of all time" as he was calling it. But at the same time, I kind of enjoy hearing people like Goldstein, Cundy and Andy Jacobs going nuts when their teams exit tournaments following debatable decisions (from players, management and officials), there's a sort of raw realness about it that to me is far preferable than the risible trotting out of controversial views seemingly for the sake of it on Drive Time.

A decision like the sending off from last night, in a major game that just about all of their target audience will have watched, is absolute gold dust for a station like talkSPORT. As a neutral I can see both sides of the argument as to whether or not Nani should have gone, so (while I've not been listening save for a bit of last night's Sports Bar and H&J) I'm sure talkSPORT have had no problem in generating calls and finding listener interest in debating it today.

Sam will be at home doing commentary of the game with Andy Gray summarising in his front room a hundred miles away.

Not that they'll tell you this, just indulge in the sophistry they've perfected for these occasions.

Heres an example of the "quality" of the show.

I'd thought about that while I was writing it lol, maybe it's as well he wasn't covering it he might have had 4 heart attacks. (3 with the goals and 1 with the red card sending off)

I think talk sport commentators should look up the word subtlety.

Also checking the definitions of 'professionalism & 'quality' wouldn't go amiss either.

He hates him and never misses out on the opportunity to have a good dig at him even though Mike Parry gave him his job back when he was in charge after he went up to him on his knees begging for his 300,000 a year job back, some people have a very short memory.

And "wrote" his books for him - though I'm sure he didn't do that out of the goodness of his heart.

I'm not a supporter of Parry (far from it), but it shows a real lack of class to keep making snide comments about it being great that he's not at the station anymore when the guy can't answer back.

Still, class and Talksport?

There's no way they are still friends Oak judging by the insulting remarks coming out of Brazil's mouth this past year, whatever it was that happened no one seems to know but they have had a fall out at some stage over something. Alan Brazil was fired by Mike Parry I don't know if you remember for not turning in to work for the breakfast show one morning, his excuse was that he'd mixed up a day he had already booked off and thought it was his day off, that sounds a pretty unlikely excuse to me I don't know about you and if you take into account Brazil's history in going on a bender and not turning in back then it sounds even more unlikely. Anyway he was fired on the spot by Parry because he had a history of it, this of course all meant Brazil's lavish expensive and some might say extravagant and playboy lifestyle was suddenly minus funds to the tune of around 300,000 per year, quite a concern.
Hence next day Brazil turns up at the Towers in Parry's office begging and crawling for his job back, had Mike not been decent enough to give him another chance it's a fair betting some park bench somewhere would have had one new occupant on it supping meths from a bottle wrapped in old newspaper because I can't think of one radio station national or local that would have employed him given his record.
Instead of slagging and insulting Mike Parry he should be forever eternally grateful to that man.
