With any luck James Whale will get a 10pm till 1am slot on a station.
I used to enjoy him with Ash in the background butting in on TalkSport.
Can't think which Radio station he could go to though.
The Drive time slot was the wrong time for me to listen to him.
Do most of my listening after 10pm and have been resorting to 5 Live recently as LBC and Talksport have become bad.

Always the bridesmaid, never the bride.

I don't feel sorry for Max though, surely if he was as good at his old job as he claims - and such a well paid job in line with political word view - he could go back to the City fairly easily.

But they won't. Some may say they will initially but most will gradually creep back.

Presuming that ID makes a success of the programme, this time next year, we will wonder what the fuss was about !

I know people complain about the amount of politics on LBC but all these news bits about Justin Bieber? I mean, really? Is this news?

This change means that Iain should be able to resume his Sky News paper previews, as he will now able to get to Osterley by 10.30pm.

Not very nice is it?”

It's not nice no but its how radio works, in your job whatever you do/did it may seem extremely harsh but in radio it's the norm. The reason many presenters don't get a goodbye show is A) They do a Danny Baker and go off on a rant B) They turn it into a big song and dance and have a big goodbye show that emphases that they are gone.

If you do it this way most normal listeners think the Whale is away on holiday then after a couple of weeks the new presenter is in and the listeners barely notice until after a few weeks when they suddenly think "Wonder where they went". Obviously there may be a few who will tune out but then this will be counter balanced by people who hated Whale and when they flick there radio and hear he has gone they will listen.

That Dustin Beaver is a disgrace. Everyone saying he was two hours late except Beaver himself. who says it was more like forty minutes. OK how is 20:30-22:30 40 minutes? Sounds like the politicians we hear on LBC News every day!

I know that Martin, Hence the IF and the

I will give ID a chance on the Drive slot only because I enjoy his 19.00 to 22.00 hrs current slot, Though on Drive he does have big shoes to fill

Tweet from Jonathan Richards (JR1) former Head of Programming at LBC.

High brow Dale and drossy old SKY sounds a bit of mismatch .It's a bit like having big breasts on page 3 of the FT

As I am the one who seems to have originally flagged up or (Read between the lines) regarding what was going on with JW at LBC I am most upset that you now appear to be saying that I am not a normal listener Thank you radio dad

I'm guessing LBC are gearing up for the General Election. The station shouldn't try and support the Tories as people will see right through them. Ian Dale might by a Tory Supporter, he will get a back lash from listeners as I said if he is heard to be doing this.

I would agree with RadioDad. 'Normal' LBC listeners don't subscribe to forums such as this. They accept what they hear on the radio and either like it or not. They don't analyse it.

We are 'anoraks' or 'foamars' !

I'm not sure here if your being serious or not ? By "Normal" i meant a person who just listens to the radio and may occasionally say to a friend that they don't like a presenter if it comes up in convosation but wouldn't go out there way to comment on stations or presenters such as positing on a forum . Like the name or not most people on this forum are anoraks, the only people that are not are people who work in radio.

A favour please!

I have to go out shortly to a meeting. I hope by the time I get back that this thread has not been filled up with more and more comment as to what has happened. Please leave it to the morning - thanks.

I dunno - I go out for the afternoon and look what I miss!

Firstly, congrats to Iain Dale. Personally, I think he'll be excellent, although I'm not sure about the extra hour. Maybe Iain can explain that, after other shows (such as the overnight and then SA's) were standardised to a three-hour slot. And I'm very glad it'll be Clive afterwards, who is another calm voice and I've enjoyed choosing the radio over the TV recently in that time-slot. That said, it looks as if Clive's shows will end up being just one 'topic' hour, plus a specialist hour, unless Iain gets to keep those, but move them to 7pm. The book club especially seemed to have Iain's name written all over it.

So where does that leave us...? Just pontificating over the Sunday morning, I guess.

Yep, that came to my mind, too. But oh my god, she is bleedin' awful and as I said earlier, not intellectually up to it, IMO.

Tis only in two years' time Sleeps. Quite enough time for a Cameron supporter to get his views across.

Neither was Whale academic mind ....and he did a pretty good job .Though that was perhaps the very reason behind his dismissal ...his very lack of political savvy.

Moving a political broadcaster into a right slot shows there is something changes happening.
