It is a shame as I enjoyed his shows. Must be new changes at LBC.

I agree the trouble LBC will have is finding a presenter with enough gravitas to do the show.

With all the loopy things going on i wonder if they have signed up Jeremy Paxman for radio.

Cannot think of many current presenters perhaps Duncan Barkes excepted with the clout required.

Sounds like it as i said earlier Petrie annouced at the weekend she had signed a new contract.

I just hope Ken Livingstone and David Mellor have too.

Great loss IMO i do hope he gets airtime elsewhere.

And that he has tweeted he is okay, when he was at talkSPORT he used to run a "Foamar" site where the people moaning on the talkSPORT section used to be listed in gripe order it was hugely entertaining.

From James Whale Via Twitter I can confirm that LBC973 have not renewed my contract. Proud to have been part of the team that gave them the highest ratings in 20 years.

James & Ash
Ufo's & David Icke
A man who talks with wolves
Nick Pope
Crazy callers”

Yes, I'd forgotten how much I'd liked that mix of material. It suited his personality and presenting style more than just news and current affairs. He can do 'serious' but I think he actually needs more to bounce off.

That's not good for drive time listeners!

No but it kept the LBC travel reporters on their toes for crash reports.

So the question is: Who else have not had their contracts renewed?

And did all this recent contract renewals have such an impact on Steve Allen, he did mention on his show today that he actually went into LBC on Friday but not to broadcast!

His contract got renewed in December so his illness is nothing to do with that.

He'll be back, nobody messes with The Whale. LBC's loss !
Uk Radio needs people like James Whale
Maybe he can try to persuade Tommy Boyd out of retirement at the same time

James Whale, Jon Gaunt, Tommy Boyd, plus others could set up internet radio
God damn ! I'd listen, take part
Real Talk Radio, that would be !

But the max would be a shocker that time of day.

This was a guy who resolutely supported Murdoch during the height of the mobile-hacking scandal, calling it a storm in a teacup. He was one of the worst offenders in cutting people off regardless as to whether they were making a good point or otherwise. And always the same repetitive boring topics, With JW's DM tabloid approach to broadcasting, I won't lose too much sleep over his departure. As long as they don't move AD or JM to that slot. Ian Collins would be the best person to take over.

Ferrari is nuch worse he is a Murdoch product not only that he talks down to callers a lot.! saying to a caller who he knew the name of "I will be the judge of that madam" this morning. Its like car crash radio which is why i listen to the sun man.

Ian Collins would be a good choice so would Duncan Barkes but in my honest opionion James Whale would be better,he also did not let slippery politicians off the hook with weasel answers on plenty of occasions.

I am shocked and stunned by this decision by LBC.

Ludicrous.

James Whale is certainly one of their most charismatic presenters and this seems to have come from far left field.

JW has said on Twitter that he is taking a break as he is shocked. Didn't see it coming.

I am listening to LBC less and less these days. JW was one of the few I still tuned in to!

Editorial guidelines have changed recently at LBC and Global want a presenter like Ian Payne not high rate when callers call, which does make good Radio. Simon Bates would be a good replacement if he wasn't at Smooth- but l think Clive Bull or James Max will take over?

Steve Allen probably rushed in on Friday when he heard the news James had left too see him.

Clive Bull, simon bates! both would have the politicans quaking in their boots.

Although i am sure you are right about editorial guidelines only hope the LBC solicitor Daniel Barnett is on tonight on Iain Dales show and is not gone.

Hope thet get drive right as radio five lives drive is quite tempting as Peter Allen is another one who grills politicans until they answer.
