Me too - I used to live in the depths of Earls Court and I NEVER had an asthma attack.

Our council supposedly wants to cut pollution and protect the countryside but what do they do? Erect a school with 90 car parking spaces for children that live in the district on the only piece of green public space this part of the village - and then allow another huge housing development. No wonder my asthma isn't great!!!

Or your blood pressure, by the sound of it!

well we ve been for a lovely long walk. there is something wonderful watching the dog just charge around running everywhere, delighted in the sheer pleasure of running around everywhere....


it might be the first day of summer time, but it hasnt quite managed to snow...although it is almost threatening to do so...

Morning all.

My cold has returned so I'm back to bed in a moment. Getting really fed up with things! We had to cancel our friends for the weekend as both my o/h and I weren't well. Only consolation is that the house was/is spotless!

Washer/dryer has broken down again and we have to get it repaired.

Feeling very sorry for myself at the moment so I am going back to bed to read The Bull from the Sea by Mary Renault - she wrote a lot of fiction about Greek Myths and a very good trilogy about Alexander the Great.

Hopefully back later/tomorrow.

Hi JJAT - I'm back from my USA holiday - loved New Orleans and the Louisiana swamps - just like those great Dave Robideaux books by James Lee Burke. But the alligators kept diving for cover when they saw me!

Hope everyone had a great Easter - wonder how many eggs John got? I only got one - but it's just a memory now...

Don't recall any Mary Renault books about Arthur - but there was a great Mary Stewart trilogy which started with Merlin as a boy in the Crystal Cave. Wonder if i still have those books lurking in the darkest places on the bookshelves? - just off to look!

Glad you liked New Orleans, one of our favourite places - where did you stay? We stayed in one of the cottages at the Malmaison in the French Quarter - evidently Tennessee Williams stayed there when he was writing Streetcar Named Desire. We too went on a swamp tour and loved it - although we didn't like jambalaya!
Did you see any of the old beautiful sugar plantations? We were surprised at how much smaller they were than the cotton plantations.

I am going back to bed in a minute. Still feel very muzzy-headed and listless.

Did anyone here watch Labyrinth, it was shown on C4 Sat/Sun?
It was based on the best selling book by Kate Mosse and starred Jessica Brown-Findlay who played the ill-fated Lady Sybil in Downton Abbey, Emun Elliott from Game of Thrones and Merlin's Katie McGrath.

Kate Mosse turned down offers from Hollywood to turn her book into a film as she didn't like what they wanted to do with it. She was really pleased with how this production turned out, saying some of the things they did in the series were better than the decisions she made in the novel, praise indeed for the producers Ridley and Tony Scott.

Have to say it's not normally something we'd watch but we were intrigued by the time shifting element to it. Thoroughly enjoyed it and worth another look if it's reshown.

I see the new series of Game of Thrones has started, did you manage to catch it augusta?

I missed The Village which I thought looked quite good in the trailers, but there was so much on all at the same time on Sunday. Hawaii Five-0, Person of Interest and the above mentioned Labyrinth, we had to make a choice.

Still got Jonathan Creek to watch and the wonderful Touch is back tonight.

I shall have square eyes at this rate!

I watched The Labyrinth and enjoyed it - had to record it as there was a Foyle and The Village. Just watched the Village - boy was it grim, but great acting. We don't realize how lucky we are without corporal punishment - boy was it brutal.

Have slept most of the afternoon but still don't feel great. Have put a leg of lamb on for dinner and have peeled some heritage potatoes for roasting - very pretty with purple inside it.

Need to do some onions so I'll say cheerio.

im not sure I really liked Labyrinth. the scenery was lovely, but I prefered the book.

How are we all today?

Whatever I have has gotten worse and I can barely talk and I now have a really tight chest and cough. I am going back to bed with lots of water. Haven't slept well as I got up twice with a very very dry mouth.
