its raining here again tonight........

well I think we have booked a summer break in Tenerife this summer. It hard cos me and my OH don't seem to share the same idea about holidays. He gets so tired all he wants is a lazy beach holiday with sun and sea and swimming pools. Im not keen on the heat, and would much rather visit somewhere interesting, where I can go sightseeing and do things.....This is very much a holiday for him, but Ive never been to Tenerife, so it might be interesting. loads of people have enjoyed holidays there...

Lucky you! Don't think we will be going anywhere this year.

May I make a couple of recommendations. Don't know what part of the island you are on but there is a ferry that goes to LaGomera and it is a lovely island. Reminds me of some Mexican towns. You should also go into Santa Cruz (the capital of the island). We took public transport when we were there. They have a museum and it was quite bustling. There are also day trips to Mt Teide (I couldn't go all the way up because of my asthma) and also some trips that go to Africa.

I have found the Spanish Tourist Board incredibly helpful.

We stayed in Los Cristianos which had some excellent tapas bars.

Wonder if John went to Tenerife - or was it Majorca?

I think John went almost everywhere, when he and his friends visited the mediteranean. But it is true, I don't think of Tenerife being Spain, but the Canary islands, and I spose it is really!!

Good luck to Ali and Laura, if she ever pops in over here..

So ive started watching the Great British Sewing bee and recorded the last part of the portrait competition, I cant wait to see what he makes of the portrait of Hilary Mantel, she has such an unusual face.

And why oh why in todays age, is the Great British Sewing Bee, so female dominated!! A large majority of the designers and haute couture people are male, does this mean that these people know almost nothing about actually making their designs up to wear?

im loving the designs and the making up and the fabric, and Claudia Winkleman, but why are so many of those who seem so good at sewing, extremely irritating, its all the attention to detail, that winds me up. Like the patterned skirt that won last night, was an amazing skirt, but I thought the material was horrid, and the woman who made it....!!!

I think I felt last year, and I am thinking again, the level of technical expertise they are expecting is incredibly high. I can sew and make things, and have done for years..(m except don't often now, as the price of fabric is so high.) but I wouldn't be able to do half of what is expected on this show. Maybe they should open the contest out, to professionals to see what they could achieve, like college students training in fashion? Or reduce what is expected?

Hi, sorry I've not been around but I can honestly say I haven't felt this rough with a cold in a long time.
I'm finally beginning to feel a bit better, well the sore throat and temperature has gone, but I have a horrible cough and I'm still stuffed up . I can't even smell the Olbas oil right under my nose.

At least the sun is shining - there's not a cloud in the sky. Hope it's lovely where you are today.

I saw a headline that said we are going to be treated to a spring heatwave.....wishful thinking do you suppose?

Supposed to be going to a little tea party at the weekend to celebrate the 90th birthday of my cousins Aunt, she is so excited as her sister is coming over from Oz and they haven't seen each other for some years. Just hope I'm well enough, the last thing I want to do is give anyone my cold.

Morning all.

Off soon as I need to get my glasses done.

Raining at the moment - oh joy! I must admit though that everything in the garden looks fresh and green!

Don't know about a heatwave Lena - I hate too much heat! I wilt! However, a bit of sun would be nice for a change.

Well, have a good day all.

afternoon all....

so people are hoping for lovely sunny spring weather, I thought the forecast tomorrow was snow?

the 90th birthday party sounds lovely, where are they going to hold it? Although to be honest id imagine the highlight of the occasion is just going to be meeting up with people you haven't seen for ages.

I helped my dad build one of those huge trough/planter things, that you grow lettuce etc in, this morning, luckily I popped round , as he was starting .....and was able to help with most of the lifting, at times he is one of his own worst enemies, he will not admit how old and frail he is becoming. It did say it was going to arrive ready assembled...guess what ...it didn't.

there are some nasty bugs going around this year aren't there? Ive had a bit of a cold and cough for weeks on and off, and it cant seem to decide whether to get worse and need proper medicines, or get better completely!!!

Augusta if you are going to type the word snow, this face should go at the end
i didn't hear about this and i say NO, i.m liking the sun
are they sure its on its way

I think all dads are the same, like to think they can do the same things
as they use to. Think the heavy lifting is a bit of a pride thing.

don,t let the cold go on to long Augusta, if it continues best
to get it checked out, hope you feel better soon

these cold and viruses seem to be really lingering
send good wishes
and hope you make the party

ts been quite nice weather here today....

we went to the shops as well today....we needed food for the weekend,...

Then I had my annual optitions appointment, and we are still investigating options for new gas fires....

what book are you reading? I am in the middle of one by Lottie Moggach, Kiss me first, which is interesting.......about living life through the internet and internet forums...so its very apt at times!!!

WE still need to work out when we can all meet for our Christmas get together , is the transport over your way sorted out yet?

there is something pretty odd about funerals.....hope you end up feeling a bit more cheerful soon

I have had a lovely lazy day, its lovely and sunny here.

I think I saw dancing on Ice for the first time this season, yesterday and I loved the dancing and airborne tricks. Then I was trying to watch a programme about king Ludwig of Bavaria on BBC4 which was fascinating, he was the original fantastical castle builder. but it was too intensive for a lazy sunday night, so I gave up. I would love to see these castles in real life. This can go on my list of places to visit....the far away ones might be difficult to aim for, like New Zealand, but I think Germany might be more achievable...one day....

Its odd as I get older my tastes seem to be getting more expensive, I've just had my hair recoloured again.....I really like how it looks and its so luxurious to sit in the hairdressers and be pampered.....But its not cheap..

what is everyone else up to ?

a signed Gerrard shirt, and signed Suarez pic
very pleased with both

looking forward to a long hot bath

Morning all.

Seeing all the flowers come out has given me a boost - I love Spring! Just sad my friend won't see it.

How is everyone? Did you all have a good pancake day?

A friend took me to see The Book Thief. Very good but not as good as the book.

Public transport is just about back to normal so perhaps we can all meet for our Xmas do after Easter. Let me know.

I really have let things slip so now have to race around and call roofers, fridge repair man, dentist etc etc. Cannot wait to get back into going into London.

Have tickets for Blithe Spirit and King Lear. A friend of mine is working on another play which sounds good.

Anyway, I am also pleased that Federer beat Djokovich and won The Dubai Open - evidently he has broken another record!

Have a lovely day all.

Hello Nyannie, and Good Afternoon
Lovely to see you back,
spring is a lovely time of the year, love the tulips and daffs

didn't see the tennis, but pleased Federer won,
been trying to find time to pick up a good book, but there always seems to be
something that needs to be done

have you a lot of work to be done on your roof, i would think it would be quite
hard to book a roofer at the mo, with all the rain and wind damage around.

would love to meet after easter, pleased the transport is running fairly well again and
you can get out and about, never good to stuck indoors

hope you have a lovely day
Jxxx
