Morning all.

Wish I had Sky - seem to be quite a few good programs. They did put the first series of Game of Thrones on a Freeview Channel but they stopped after a few episodes. Infuriating!!!!

Off to garden centre after Saturday Kitchen. Need compost and bug killer!!!!

Reading HEMINGWAY'S BOAT - really good. Also started a history of the French and Indian War. A bit heavy, but must improve my historical knowledge.

Have a lovely day.

ive watched a bit of the marathon as well, as my daughter said, they are running a long way aren't they!!

my other daughter is doing her physio role on the finish line, for one of the charities, which must be pretty incredible....the atmosphere seems amazing.

ive just done a run to the dump....its incredible how much garden rubbish has accumulated over the winter...but isn't it an odd experience....seeing so much rubbish being thrown away in such an orderly manner?

I m seeing that the UN are really trying to raise the profile of environmental issues/climate change, and saying we really must do more to protect our environment, I do hope this happens a bit more....

have a lovely rest of the weekend everyone xx

wow that sounds fun, hope she had a good time
and what a great thing to do, helping out
i really must go up one year and watch the run
there is always such a great atmosphere

as for the tips
there is always such a queue, so many people dumping stuff
we now have to give our postcode or show some form of identification
to prove we live in the area and are local,
but a least you don,t get so many people having bonfires in the gardens
which i,m very pleased about

by the way good morning all

Morning all

Congratulations to Liverpool. Nice to see someone other than Manchester U or Chelsea at the top of the table.

Glorious weather. Have I tempted fate by planting out my hanging baskets? Hope not.

Cordless phones have packed up so need to get new ones on Wednesday when I make my monthly exercusion into our local town. Thank goodness we have our old handset - don't know what we would do without it.

Have a good day everyone.

re the phones...we really do live in an age of short lived appliances don't we? Its so frustrating having to replace things like kindles etc so regularly. And now windows hp is not going to be supported or maintained, I can imagine so many unforeseen problems.

The weather here is beautiful again........

We saw Divergent at the cinema on Saturday, which was watchable although nothing fantastic, and nearly pulled our hair out last night trying to find anything worthwhile to watch. I think we ended up watching W15 or whatever its called on catch up, the comedy programme about the New Head of Values at the BBC. It is absolutely hilarious. My favourite bit amongst many is the intern, who 3 weeks running has spectacularly failed with the office mailout.....he has managed to fail to put the correct named letter into the correct envelope in so many different ways. And having done mail outs...in an office, years ago, I really feel his pain. Except this intern is so laid back nothing gets to him.

Another favourite is the hot desking.....so favoured by so many companies. which leave employees with nowhere to actually leave any of their personal effects! Last night we had the head of values staying behind one night to create a 'creative clearing'....a space just for him with a desk and sensible chairs. Just like an office but without a door.... They are filming this series actually in Bush house in London, and the sight of the actors sitting on some of their incredibly imaginative and yet uncomfortable seating is ridiculously comical. There were giant chairs last week, like bar stools that you had to almost climb a ladder to sit on, and this week there was a meeting with everyone sitting on gym balls....!!

My OH says the meetings are just like those he has to attend........full of loads of people saying things.....but no resolution or meaning to the entire thing!! !

Hi all

I'm afraid my TV viewing has been somewhat dominated by football....for obvious reasons! And this afternoon we watched the Hillsborough memorial service at Anfield, which was very moving. It also reminded me of how much I enjoyed living on Merseyside (until 1978) and how steadfast a community it is.

Also watched Crimson Field on Sunday evening, which is a bit Mills and Boon but enjoyable.

Now off to do a bit of prep for work tomorrow.

Have a good evening all x

Morning all.

Had a lovely day in London - saw one of the 'lost' Faberge eggs - worth 2 million pounds but someone bought it in US for about £875 - didn't realize what it was. So beautiful!!!!

Going to buy the cordless phones today. A friend is giving me a lift into town.

Garden is really sprouting. All mulched and slug pellets put down.

Can't believe you have to show identification at your local dump. Guess non-residents have been using it. We have two near us and at one the men working there are very very helpful - they help unload. You can recycle furniture, refrigerators etc - was very impressed. You can tell this is where my o/h takes me - wonder if it is a message to me or something?

Hi everyone, hope you are all fighting fit and enjoying the beautiful weather we're being treated to at the moment.

Sorry I've not been around, but I caught the dreaded flu after I'd just got rid of my laryngitis and it's taken a while for me to recharge my batteries. I've been ill more weeks than I've been well so far this year!

I'm so paranoid about catching anything else if anyone so much as coughs near me I'm running in the other direction.

I didn't abandon you all, have had a little look now and then to make sure you're all still here (when my cold filled eyes allowed me)

I need to catch up on how Lindy's move is going, nyannie's garden, augusta's mini break and georgy and Lindy's reactions to their beloved Liverpool.

Are your parents moving far from where they are now? Arundel is beautiful, such a lovely setting and about forty miles along the coast from here.
They do some lovely river cruises too, great way to spend a summers afternoon. not to mention some lovely little shops.

afternoon all.....I love beautiful jewellery and the Faberge eggs have so much almost mysticism about them, so beautiful and so unique, and also such a potent symbol of a different world, where money really was no object.

glad to see that you are feeling better Lena. and that everyone is having fun watching all the sports.

Tomorrow I might be being taken out for lunch by my no 1 daughter as a late mothers day present. (Im hoping we go, but not exactly holding my breath) now my only concern is where to suggest we go? Im trying desperately to think of somewhere nice that will also lenable me to get into M &S to buy some of their imaginative delicious looking hot cross buns. Hot cross buns have such an evocative memory for me, we would often be at my grandmas on Good Friday, and I would be sent out to the local bakers to buy fresh hot cross buns, which were so yummy.

And then it would be a weekend of roast dinners and afternoon tea...with proper teacups and sandwiches and cake, and seeing my aunts, uncles and cousins.

what is everyone else doing for easter? This is the one weekend I really should make an effort to go to church. !!

Subsidence - the word that strikes fear into every home owner.
Hope your surveyor has been able to put your minds at rest.
How's the moving thing going? Always seems such a long drawn out process doesn't it?

So glad you are feeling better Lena. I do know how you feel. I think I should be wearing one of those surgeon's mask when I go out of the house.

Planned to do lots today but a friend came over for coffee at 11 am and stayed for lunch. She left and another friend came over with some homemade brownies at 1.30 - she only just left.

Needless to say I have gotten NOTHING done!!!!!!!!!!! I do love my friends though.

Have a lovely evening everyone.

Sounds a lovely weekend. We are going for drinks at a neighbour's and then a theatre friend of mine is coming on Saturday and leaving early on Easter morning. Then I guess it is going to be reading the papers, doing some gardening, reading and catching up on all the programs we have recorded.

Best go now, new phones may be installed.

Did anyone see 'Protecting lur Parents' tonight? I thought it was really good. It wasn't especially dementia related, but did explore some of the issues surrounding hospital discharges, safety or otherwise at home, care homes, care packages, falls....

And for once, the social workers were not made out to be big bad wolves, or incompetent, or lazy.....just decent people trying to do a very difficult job

Have a good weekend all

just back from walking the dogs along the river...which was lovely....but...

its so disconcerting walking somewhere so public with the dalmation....the number of people you walk past who say, just out of earshot, oh look a dalmation...or point out how spotty he is.....

yes I do know that he is spotty....!!! Its a bit like stating the obvious though...Why did my daughter have to get such an obvious animal??

His highlight was finding a lost tennis ball, and doing his favourite trick of jumping in the air to catch it......he could play with a ball for hours if we let him....

but the car park cost £3.50, that's ridiculously expensive for an hours dog walking...ok for all day, but not for the amount of time we spent out...

but it is lovely there, and have all the things they like to do
good walks and bird watching
