Happy Easter everyone

My theatre friend just left. We had a lovely time and she brought us some really scrummy Easter Bunnies - I gave her one too.

We now have thunder and lightning - quite exciting.

New cordless phones don't work. Think it might be the line. So old corded phone is in place. Thank goodness it works!

Have a good day all

. . . and John, thank you for your message. It is good to hear you are still alive and well.

Happy Easter everyone

Some lovely messages on here, and even one from John He's a good lad.

Have had quite a busy weekend, with daughter and her boyfriend here for a couple of days and a friend round for dinner last night. We're out to dinner with friends ourselves tonight

Felt guilty not having mum round for Easter lunch, but then we haven't actually had one so we weren't really leaving her out! I looked at my diary last night and realised with a shock that I've been at her place on eleven days out of the last fourteen! And for lengthy periods too. Not sure how long I can keep it up.....

Watched the Liverpool match today. Great start, petering out into playing in our own half, couldn't quite figure out how / why that happened. Except that we are used to having Henderson roaring up the pitch with the ball at his feet. We really missed him imo. Finally won 3-2 though so the result was okay

Anyway best get ready to go out.

Enjoy what remains of Easter guys

Love, Lindy xx

Morning all
abo
Glorious day here. Everything looks fresh and new and car has at last lost its Sahara Dust. Dustmen have even been here. So glad I put rubbish and recycling out yesterday.

Wow Lindy, 11 out of 14 days. That is something. Perhaps if you can, you should try and cut down. Easier said than done I know. You must be exhausted!

Cannot wait for Jamaica Inn tonight. It was one of my favourite Daphne DuMaurier books. Just started reading a book by Martha Gellhorn (third wife of Ernest Hemingway) about her travels. She was a WWII correspondent. Interesting woman.

Well, ironing, washing and garden calls.

Have a lovely day all

none of this feeling guilty lindy
you do a lot for your mum, as a carer you also need a break
you are no good to her if you are all worn out
sending good wishes to you and your mum

as for the Liverpool result ... Yes....... 5 points clear. We had a group of friends here for
a buffet lunch and the match, it got loud with a lot of food and beer drunk
no other liverpool supporters, but all were cheering for us
mainly Tottenham and Fulham supporters i think

georgy we are going to have to arrange to meet up and do something , sometime..

It was lovely to have a roast dinner today and have both daughters here, but with my youngest graduating this year, I am going to have to learn to get used to her not being around. Which makes sense on a logical level, but its much harder on an emotional level to watch them grow up!!

Lindy it seems to be an age thing, Ive met a couple of people this weekend, who are trying to arrange parent care.....!!! There has got to be something more 'intelligent'' somehow to do for our older generations. I think even though Dad is pretty unwell physically, im quite lucky that my parents are fiercely independent.

What a lovely Easter. So glad you enjoyed it.

I agree with you about parent care. It is a difficult decision and I worry what will happen to us as we have no close relatives. I speak from personal experience when I say that dealing with a relative with dementia or extreme old age is harrowing. We had to make difficult decisions and it broke our hearts but in hindsight it was for the best. It took us almost a year to find a suitable private nursing home (you have to wait until someone dies to get in) and we were mentally and physically exhausted before the relative went into the home - and we were 15 years younger! You get to a point when you have to decide if you are going to take the tough decision or carry on and resent your relative and exhaust and depress yourself. I think seeing your relative deteriorate is a wake-up call to you - as ageing is absolutely no fun and you have to make provision.

Good morning everyone and a belated Happy Easter to you all, sounds like you all had a good one.

Lovely to hear from John too, good to know he still remembers us.
Wonder if he's enjoying the royal visit.

We're having terrible problems with our internet connection at the moment, took me over fifteen minutes to get on today. Turning the bloomin' router on and off. Grrr!

We've signed up for BT Infinity, (fibre optic, how posh) just got to wait for the change over, so hopefully our connection will improve dramatically. Don't let me down now.......

I'm with both of you, nothing like fish and chips in paper. Nice bit of cod or huss, yummy.
Oh and hot doughnuts, I love doughnuts.
Haven't played on the slot machines for years, my son was always a dab hand on the one that pushes the coppers along on the surface till they fall down the shute - he used to collect them in a paper cup.

I've been having a crisis as far as sport goes........

Sat and watched Arsenal's season unravel and boy did we make hard work of the FA Cup semi final - I can't tell you what I was screaming at the tv in frustration (I do hope the budgies had their wings over their ears, we don't want some of that repeated)

I think Liverpool will win the premiership and deservedly so, they kept their heads while the rest of them lost theirs.

And don't get me started on my beloved Formula 1 .......I nearly fell off the sofa in shock when I heard the engines ( our lawn mower is louder than that!) and I quite frankly couldn't give a t*ss about saving fuel, recharging batteries and all the other nonsense that's appeared this season. The cars are some of the ugliest I've ever seen too.

I thought it was hilarious when Vettel described the engine noise as 'sh*t' when he sat on the wall for the first race, then got a letter of reprimand from the FIA to moderate his language, how very dare someone speak the truth. It's not often I agree with him but he got it spot on.

I notice that the BBC have kept last years intro to the programme with the good old engines reving over Fleetwood Mac's, The Chain. Of course they have, cos it would sound absolute pants with the raspberry noise thats coming out of this years cr*ppy cars.

I actually didn't bother getting up for the one live race that the BBC have shown this season. I never thought I'd see the day when that happened and I've been watching since the mid seventies!!

the F1 is getting a bit too repetitive at the moment, somehow they need to inject a bit of excitement and racing/overtaking rather than the current procession....

easter was lovely ...now its back to work and normality with a vengeance....!!

but it was nice to have a decent break...

Don't know about anyone else, but I am here.

Morning all.

Got an appointment to see someone about my ear infection - on Saturday morning!!!! Can't wait.

Went to see the Cezanne exhibition at the Ashmolean in Oxford and despite my resolution not to buy any catalogues, I did!

Anyone see Jamaica Inn? Last night was the first episode I could understand it without subtitles - terrible, doesn't anyone check these things? Bad diction really spoiled the whole series for me.

Must go. Meeting friend at the V&A.

Have a good day all.

Hi all

I'm sorry I haven't been around but I have been feeling pretty low Tuesday was the 11th anniversary of my father's death, and although I don't usually react strongly to such occasions, this year I have wept buckets. My daughter has been great.....OH is a bit mystified, I think....bless him

Plus, mum needs daily visits now and that's down to me for the moment. My plan is to get to a position where she allows me to help her, and then gradually bring in outside help 'for my benefit, not hers'. Hopefully that way she will find it easier to accept.

I'm on the verge of tears quite a lot. Thanks goodness for LFC The football is one of the few things cheering me up at present.

Move is 'pencilled in' for 1st July btw, but we haven't yet exchanged contracts.

Will be off now......I may not post that much but will be thinking of you all

Love
