Oh lindy how awful for you...

you seem to have some of the most stressful things ever, like moving and grieving for your dad and worrying about your mum, all at the same time....huge hugs to you. life isn't always that easy....

hopefully things will start to become simpler .......try and cut as many corners as you can

It is a rainy day here.

Saw the William Kent exhibition yesterday. Was so pleased I'd been to some of his houses. It really amazes me how these house builders also designed furniture and other things. Must admit though that I was a bit overwhelmed with plans.

Off to see the Georgians at the Queen's Gallery next week. I can't remember if the tube strike is on the 30th April.

Have a good weekend all.

No, no, no, no, no !!!!

You must not postpone meeting up just because I'm being a miserable so-and -so! And that's an order!

Some days are better than others for me but I have been so emotional lately I think i am best not to commit myself to days out. That does not mean to say you can't. Flippin' heck!

Just book something and have a good time. I look forward to hearing about it

On Gogglebox I like the family kind of atmosphere.....I think my favourite family are the ones with the German dad, who is so obvious and straightforwards with his comments.. and I love Leon and June, And I love love love, either Sandy or Sandra's jewellery, especially the plane ring, which is amazing.

And its the little asides I love, like when they were watching Mastermind, (and all loving it when they got the answers right), when the chess master guy from Cambridge said, how he had been asked to write the questions for a contestant one year.!!

They have chosen in some ways such stereotypical families and groups to make comments.....but they work so so well.. And it is filmed in such a inoffensive and gentle way that nobody is made out to look a fool, or allowed to be filmed saying anything too shocking or offensive. Its a bit like the story' The Emperors new Clothes' though, with the viewers usually stating the obvious.

We saw the film Avatar again last night on TV, I love that film......it is so colourful and such a simple and straightforward story.

And im reading the Autobiography of Jennifer Saunders, of Absolutely Fabulous fame, its a brilliant book and she has such a positive and normal attitude to life.

I have a feeling this is a female kind of thing isn't it....just getting on with everything and trying to fit everything in. I think we are at a massive danger in this computer age we live in of trying to fit far far to much into our everyday lives, and not just giving ourselves time to sit quietly and relax and just wonder....at the magic of the world around us...

Im glad to see you on the thread though...its nice to keep in touch with everyone...xxx

Georgy

Are you sure they can work until 7 and until 3 on Saturdays? I ask, as we have had major work on the school and they can only work until 5 during the week and from 8.30 am until 1 pm.

Think you should contact Health and Safety and your local Councillor and Borough Council (with a letter and copy to your MP) about the noise - and I assume the pollution. You have every reason to complain. At the very least they should monitor the noise level. We had HSE involved as they dug huge holes with no protective fencing - and had a generator going all weekend. We had a group of people who made nuisances calling HSE and Council.

Morning all - just

Well it is now eardrops! One of the joys of getting older evidently - your ear dries up so you are more prone to infection.

I also have to have yet another blood test!!!!

Had a lovely dinner with both sets of neighbours last night. We each took a course. Best news is that we got rid of our ice cream maker!!! Just found the instructions and need to clean it up a bit.

Well Lindy, just make sure you get enough rest. Perhaps you should stop doing things that aren't essential. Perhaps your family can take over some of your 'duties' (can't think of another word) like cleaning and shopping and cooking and packing for your move while you have to spend so much time with your mother. You won't be doing anyone any good if you are exhausted! Make sure you take care of yourself, it is important.

Sending you much lovexxxx

Its already a big five bedroom house
sitting on a very large plot
they have gutted it, moving bedrooms and bathrooms
extending the front, with large porch, going into the loft also

building 3 garages with a games room above
and putting a large conservatory on the kitchen at the back

i,m sure it will look lovely but the dust and noise
are a real pain in the A***

hope you had a good weekend
overlooking the Liverpool defeat x

So sorry about Liverpool. I don't like Chelsea - I had a horrible experience when I went to see a live game about 25 years ago.

If Arsenal can't have the title think Liverpool should.

Keeping my fingers crossed!!!!

Georgy

I would have a look at the planning application and conditions (should be available online). Did you object to the original application? You really must keep a diary too of when they start and stop work. I cannot believe that your council will allow work to start at 7 am - you need to find out from the council

The difficulty is that this may start a precedent and other houses will be able to extend increasing plot density.

Think you and your neighbours should make pains of yourself and call the council and the HSE (dust and noise). You must keep a diary of start and stop times. You must also complain (both by telephone and in writing) to the council about the dust - it can exacerbate asthma etc. When we had a huge development being built my asthma got so bad I was hospitalized twice. I got compensation and the builders had to do special measures to minimize dust. It was a nightmare.

I wish you luck - and do find out the working hours.

One final thing - did anyone object to the development?

Morning all.

Have cancelled my visit to the Queen's Gallery because of the strike. After my last experience don't think it wise. Will have lunch with my friend locally instead. Much better.

Have just started Spring Cleaning in the kitchen. Have just discovered we have 7 spatulas - how on earth did we get so many? Think they must have come free with magazines or something. We also have 4 nutcrackers which don't work - and we hardly ever have nuts which need cracking.

Hope everyone has a great day - despite the rain.

evening all....sad news about Liverpool. and interesting news about building regs, Its useful to know these things

tonight is Game of thrones night.....its dreadful but.....sort of interesting.
Now it looks like I have 2 jobs........one is much closer, so I am going to have to gently tell the other place that Im not going to be able to stay. Im awful at doing things like this, as I hate feeling like im letting anyone down, but.....I need to be sensible for myself, and think of things like the price of petrol...... I just need to do it.......
