Sounds wonderfully relaxing Augusta!
![]() I'd love to live either by the sea, or in a city.......small towns just don't inspire me at all ![]() I'm reading Breathing Lessons by Anne Tyler.....massively character driven, really enjoying it so far ![]() That sounds like a good book for my little kindle. Apart from a few charging problems, im really enjoying using it. And its saving so much space on the bookshelves..!!!! although, it is hard not being able to pick a book up and read the blurb and scan it.....You dont get the idea of the thickness of the book or where you are , ie whether you are at the beginning or near the end, with a kindle. Daughter went out on fri night, with mates from work , went to a club, and think she got her drink spiked, and is missing an entire night, luckily her bf found her on the street and took her to his flat . Its a scary world out there.![]()

Thanks for your good wishes - it has been tough and I am completely fed up!!!! Saw the Dr today - I have viral laryngitis. More inhalations, more water (I've had about 3-4 litres today) and if it doesn't clear by next week, see them again...
What part of London is your son looking in georgy? I love Fulham, Earls Court and Putney although my friend lives in Holloway and it is very handy - loads of buses going everywhere. so we are thinking Finchley, High Gate Area seen a few , but not the right one yet Sorry to hear you"re no better stay in bed, keep warm all the best x

So sorry to hear that you're ill Nyannie, and hope you feel much better soon. Maybe spring will finally arrive and perk you up - here's hoping.
Thanks to everyone for the welcome home. I'll try to get some of the more exciting moments of the 'Plague, Pestilence and Contusions Tour' written very soon - yep - it was - er - interesting at times At the moment, I'm trying to catch up with all sorts of crisis that seem to have happened in my time away, including playing with the insurance company and the police as my house was burgled when I was away. The diamonds, the rubies, emeralds, sapphires - the ropes of pearls - the Patek Phillippe watch collection - none of them were here when I got home. Yeah, OK - they weren't here when I left either... More nuisance than life-shattering - just jewellery targeted, and I didn't have all that much. A fair bit of damage was caused by the break-in though - it seems my locks were too good (!) so door and window frames were mangled when they attempted to force them. Oh well, the insurance guys seem to be very willing to carry out the repairs, so I'm hoping for the best. Might invest in an alarm though. Yeah - I know - stable door -bolted horse. Oh- and take photos of valuable jewellery, I'm glad the cat was safe in the cattery - she'd have been terrified if I'd left her in with a friend doing the necessary for her. And she'd have got out through the forced window. So it could have been worse ![]() Oh - have you noticed there's a 'Hottest BB Housemate poll going on on the main forum? - I think they need to get the correct result this time... ![]() i,m so sorry how horrid for you ![]() hope they catch the little slime ball Sh*t ![]() so pleased your cat was nice and safe all the best x |

Afternoon nyannie
![]() You fire away and feel sorry for yourself, I think you're entitled to! I feel much the same myself. My knee is very painful today - and what's worse, has that horrible feeling of being about to give way - so I think we're both entitled, really! ![]() I just had to phone mum and tell her I can't get her shopping today, which felt awful, although I know that OH or daughter will take up the slack....... Anyway had a great night out last night (hanging on to OH for support ). Had fish and chips in a private dining room in one of the colleges, to celebrate someone's retirement.....very enjoyable ![]() Hope everyone's okay. Have a good day all ![]() Lindy x ![]() so sorry about your knee, have you seen a specialist, whats the treatment for it. now that fish and chip supper sound splendid can't remember the last time i had one just the smell of them, makes my tummy rumble

Will you take her to the GP? My o/h is now in bed and I'm joining him. Antibiotics have kicked in but I'm still not feeling great. My throat is still sore and I really just want to sleep. See you all later. |

Augusta how frightening is she ok, how is she feeling this morning ![]() we do live in strange times. ![]() i hope you end up feeling a bit better, Nyannie. Georgy , Flat hunting is a nightmare isnt it, and there are so many overpriced flats in london, where you pay a fortune for a total wreck of a place. Is he looking for a flat to himself or a room somewhere? A friend of mine , after renting his own place for a while, moved into a house share in a large house in Hackney, which he is really enjoying. As with a large group of them, they are sharing a huge really nice house and garden. |

Hi to everyone, enjoyed another day of sunshine even a little warmer today.
![]() Sorry to hear your so poorly nyannie and Lindy with your knee. ![]() Lots of rest and keeping warm is my remedy. Get well soon. What a terrifying thing to happen to your daughter augusta, thank goodness she's ok. It makes you wonder what motivates these people to do such things. It sounds as if you had a lovely day yesterday, nothing like a nice walk by the sea to blow the cobwebs away and lift the spirits. ![]() Still no luck with the flat hunting georgy, it needs to be home from home for your young fledgling. I bet you know Rightmove and Prime Location inside out by now. Lovely to see you bblover, hope you're keeping well. Is it any warmer where you are? Giddy, what a rotten thing to come home to. Good to hear your cat is safe and sound though.I noticed Lindy's post the other day about living near the city. I was born and raised in London and couldn't wait to leave. Even now, with the exception of the museums, it wouldn't bother me if I never clapped eyes on it again. Croydon's the nearest I've been in years and that's only because it's near to where my sister lives.I have the best of both worlds here, the South Downs to the front of my house and a view across the bay from the back of the house. It's going to be tough to find our next location, I'd like something a bit quieter but within easy reach of civilisation and amenities when we need them. We're not getting any younger, so we need to think ahead.Could do with a warmer climate too, truth be told. Been catching up with some of the dvd's I received for christmas (seems so long ago now), just finished Joanna Lumley's Greek Odyssey, and fell just a little bit in love with Corfu. I'm about to start the first part of her autobiography, which I'm looking forward to.

Morning all.
How are we all? Sunshine has decided to disappear for a while. I am fed up taking antibiotics, using eye drops and having steam inhalations. That is my rant for the day. . . Looking forward to Paris - been downloading galleries that are closed on different days so we can plan what to do. I am just hoping we have good weather - so difficult to decide what to take and what not to. I do have a long smart raincoat I bought in NY years ago. May take that and lots of jumpers. Good to see you Lena. Georgy, is your son going to share a flat? That certainly would be cheaper. |

Nyannie I hope you end up feeling a bit better soon, there are some miserable cold and flu going around, I thought the cold weather was meant to kill these things off.? Today is a planning and sorting and organising sort of day, and then I think im going to go up to london tomorrow. |

Just heard the news about Margaret Thatcher. I didn't like some of the things she did, but she was a true friend of the United States. I actually saw her during a trip to DC when I was visiting my sister and she came over and shook everyone's hand - including mine. She asked where we were all from and I said NY but lived in London. She said she hoped I was enjoying it. I don't think the walkabout was planned as after about 5 minutes there were DC police all over the place.
Funny how you remember things. . . |

Have a lovely time in London Marion, wish I was going with you.
Don't know where the time is going. I am very excited and just want to be WELL!!! I have insurance and my EIH card. I have been reading any guidebook I can get my hands on. Didn't realize that there is a roman amphitheatre near Notre Dame -. Well, I'm back to bed. See you tomorrow. |

Have a lovely day, Ive decided to postpone my day out, I really need to get my planning and paperwork sorted out....Ive been working my way through my to do list of...bits and bobs that ive been putting off , like phoning re non urgent medical check up etc.
I now need to write another to do list....somewhere on it should be...sorting out a new energy provider, I need to research it properly beforehand though, and this is not a pleasant or interesting chore ... Its not really surprising so many of us just stick with the things we know. I must admit finding the cheapest and best value is not really something that excites me at all.... I also need to do a collage in various hues for my sewing class......which should be fun, when I get round to it...!!!! |

It saved an awful lot of time and we do have a very good deal. You need to read the small print very thoroughly. The collage sounds wonderful - do you do any quilting? Last spring I saw a quilting exhibition. One of the exhibitors did the most amazing series of quilts depicting the Hadron Collider - absolutely amazing!!! |
