strange weather again here....rain yet still pretty warm.

I m still half watching BB......but have also got the DVD for House of Cards. and its brilliant, if faintly surreal to watch the story again, with an American twist!! Certain lines and themes have been copied almost verbatim...like the 'you may think that, but I couldn't possibly comment, and the fact that Francis Underwoods initials spell out FU! Which I hadn't realised before!

So which other old favourites could we suggest that someone reinvents and just updates with a twist?

Bloody builders across the road
well
at the end of last week over a two day period
they managed to knock the power out for most of a day. Not happy with that they then
took out telephones and internet, oh and not forgetting the roads electric gates one of the
delivery lorries ran into them, (only
just got it all back and running)

so i packed up and went and stayed at Mums and Dads for the weekend and
left Hubs to deal with everything

had a good time but
they will not get away with it
as i write, the road committee is working on sending them the repair bills

so i,m back and going to have a read
hope all are well

the people i want to be evicted.....
keep on staying

No work yet
we need to contact the Employment Office
they have a special needs lady, and she will help and advise
and the college were also helpful
but its tricky....... even with volunteer work
so its a case of keep trying

How rotten for you georgy - don't blame you for leaving your o/h to deal with things. My o/h leaves ME to deal with things - getting really fed up with him to be honest.

Not only should you get repair bills - you should get compensation. They sound inept and more like cowboy builders. I would really monitor the time they start and finish, how safe the site is etc etc. It sounds like whoever is having the work done really doesn't have much consideration for neighbours. I would be furious!!!!

Had a barbecue with in-laws and went to the gym on Friday morning where someone put an American flag on a red, white and blue cupcake for me.

Off to London tomorrow to meet a friend. We will poodle around the Mayfair galleries and then have lunch.

Sad to say I have only watched 10 minutes of this year's BB. Really uninteresting lot this year imo. There has been so much good TV on I have hardly missed it. Won't watch spin-off shows. Not only are they on too late for me but I can't stand Rylan.

how is the gym going nyannie, im still enjoying doing aquaaerobics...

what a nuisance with your builders Georgy, they shouldn't get away with it, ok so accidents happen, but mistakes can be avoided!! who do you like in this years BB?

but they are bloody idiots, the hours they work are ok and they keep the site and outside of it clean, but i do have to watch over and remind them.
But getting a bit fed up with the noise and dust , my windows are a mess
but their is only so much you can do, after all the site has been checked and they
got the planning

what a lovely gift , that was very kind of her..... can't go wrong with a cup cake

I like the two Chris's
but they are a very unlikeable bunch of housemates
which makes it sort of interesting

as for the builders .... can't wait for them to finish..... nightmare

When we had protracted building work going on we were constantly calling the Council, Health and Safety Executive (re fencing and safety to site with children - they left a big hole with no fencing) AND we got compensation from the builders as my asthma got worse and we had to pay more to keep our windows clean and wash the car.

I do empathize with you - is there a completion date?

What happened to Brazil? Only saw last 10 minutes (re-watched Black Widow, one of my favourite films). Somehow I don't think Brazilian fans chanting 'ole' did the team much good.

the Germany match was absolutely amazing.........how incredible......I think everyone was glued to the match..

my mil is due to arrive this afternoon, any second, in fact this will be the first time in ages she has ever stayed with us...so its quite an event. Im trying really hard to pretend it doesn't matter at all, and that she is going to just have to take us as we are...but its so hard...when I want to make a half way decent impression!!

anyhow nearly at the end of term...so im really busy for the next few weeks and then time to stop and relax......

Good luck with your mother in law. I know what you mean about impressions. When my grandmother came to stay with us she would run her finger over the mantel piece and shelves and then cluck and shake her head.

My mother (a terrible housekeeper) would say to us and I think it is true - a person comes to see you not your house! In any case, make sure you have toiletries for her to use, fresh flowers in the room, magazines and some chocolate. . .

Have to agree about the Brazil/Germany match - I'm not a great soccer fan, but I couldn't stop watching - bit like watching a friend who's had way too much to drink - embarrassing but kind of fascinating Not as good as watching Wimbledon though - I've got withdrawal pains!

I have been watching most BB episodes - I prefer this series to last year's - less cringeworthy. Looks like Mark could win if he doesn't screw up, So far the ones I wanted evicted have gone - but this week I wanted Marlon out, on the grounds he appears so sexist. Doesn't seem to see women as real people at all. Can't agree about Rylan though. I cringed when C5 appointed him - but I've changed my mind and think he;s very likeable and a surprisingly good presenter. But will any BB ever get me as involved as John's year? Maybe not - but I live in hope!

the wedding was beautiful, such a petty venue......

visitor s have gone, so now it is back to normal.......except the oven has broken, so we are now in major kitchen renovation mode....to put a new electric oven on the opposite side to the freestanding gas cooker we currently have!!! im sure it will be lovely when its finished!!

Yes, Giddy I did. I decorated my garden with American flags, my in-laws brought an American flag tablecloth (not available in USA as it is considered treason) and we had fried chicken (Fannie Farmer recipe) and lamb and some homemade burgers. Only thing that was missing were fireworks!!!!

Sorry, I can't agree about Rylan. Saw him for a minute on This Morning - out of his depth - I switched off.

Saw some of the Holland/Brazil match. Love the Dutch. Brazil was abysmal. Back to the drawing board for them.

Routing for Argentina today - we have dear friends from Argentina.

Really hot here so will have to stop for a minute.

so hubs bought me a new one today (Macbook Air)
so i,m in the process of setting everything up
