Good to see you back Lindy
You know the old adage a trouble shared is a trouble halved. I do know what you are going through, but you mustn't give up with the care. It is essential if you are to have time to yourself. My relative reacted exactly the same way, but we persevered. I think dementia and MND is the cruelest disease imaginable - they take away dignity and self-respect. The person you knew and loved is no longer there - instead, there is the shell of the person you loved. You have to make difficult decisions which break your heart, but they must be made. The only thing I can do is give you my support and understanding and tell you, from personal experience, that you MUST make time for yourself. Do not give up on the care - you must have it - we had to give the carers a key after a while and we had to admit defeat and find a suitable place for our relative. The admission that you cannot care for your relative hits you - and this admission never ever leaves you. Although I am an Arsenal supporter, I am glad you are managing to follow the football. Keep strong dear Lindy. |

Hi everyone
I am so sorry I have been AWOL for so long......life and all that I've just had a quick skim through the thread, though as I've been away so long, I can't claim to have taken everything in. I did gather, though, that the usual suspects are still here and that everyone seems okay? Hope I'm right in that ![]() So what have I been up to? Well, obviously looking after mum....this is difficult to explain without going into loads of detail but she is very frail and has been diagnosed with dementia, so her life needs micro-management, basically. Just a small example: she needs new clothes, so I need to order them. She has no idea what size she is, and can't look it up on a label in her current clothes as the concept of this is now completely beyond her.....so that goes on the long list of things for me to remember to do when I go over there. Not a good example, really, but it was the one that sprang to mind!! ![]() I have recently arranged some care visits (once a day), but sadly mum regards these as intrusive and upsetting so it's not going as well as I'd hoped. I won't go on....it's only of interest really to those involved. Other than that....I have more or less given up work (can't commit when I'm so often called out) and haven't been out much. You see why I haven't posted..... ![]() I am still of course following the footie Pleased with Liverpool's progress and praying that Sterling isn't injured playing for England tonight. I have a Fantasy Football League team....we are doing terribly! ![]() Am loving EastEnders lately (never thought I'd hear myself say that). Horses for courses, you see...... Thinking of you all Hope you're all well ![]() Love, Lindy xxx LINDY ![]() BIG HUG, MISSED YOU ![]() So sorry to hear about your Mum, it must be so very hard and heartbreaking for all of you, what can i say but, if you need us, we will always be willing to listen, whether it be to shout, rage or just talk thinking of you and your family love J xxx p.s don,t forget you can always P.M us , we will be here

Hi all
![]() Thanks so much for welcoming me back Well, I went to mum's today to be greeted with the usual, "There you are, I thought I'd been abandoned"....even though I'm there every day. Poor soul, it must be so miserable sitting looking out of the window, thinking you haven't seen anyone for ages.... ![]() Anyway we had a nice chat, did some knitting ( I'm getting quite good ), had a cup of tea and some cake and then I sorted her clothes out. It was a bit like rifling through her life....but still I got a good idea of what she needs, and in what size ![]() Hope you enjoyed 'Streetcar' Augusta. Funnily enough we had booked to see this at the cinema next week....but it turned out to be on the same night as Liverpool's first Champions League match so we've cancelled it and got a refund. Well, if you're a fan you do these things!!Thinking of you Georgy and wondering what you think of LFC's progress. That Albert Moreno goal last week was fantastic ![]() Hope the gym is still helpful nyannie and that you're getting out and about ![]() Have got a hair appointment tomorrow, so you see I haven't entirely given up! In fact today I have also accepted a few days' work for November/ December .....balance is the key lol ![]() Love to all ![]() Lindy xx |

Morning all.
Lovely day. O/H is home - he needs to paint the windows. Much as I like having him around I have had to cancel meeting a friend for lunch - decided to do some ironing. Still don't feel 100% so no gym this week. Just sorted out another bundle of things for the charity shop. Just have to get them there. The study continues to be my main occupation - my o/h has receipts from things going back 20 years. Needless to say they have been discarded. Lucky you augusta, seeing STREETCAR. I am going to see the ballet MANON in October at the local cinema. Really looking forward to it. Also noticed that one of the 'local' art centres (it is 9 miles away) is showing the Marinsky Ballet's production of LE BAYADERE. Will definitely try and see that. So sorry there was no cake georgy, but hope you had a lovely time anyway. Well, best get back to my trusty shredder. Have a good day all. |

I do wish there were some better alternatives for old people, ways to find things for them to do that don't really take up energy , my parents too are bored without enough to do, but without enough energy , and too many medical appointments to be able to make that much of a regular commnittment, but they at least can still look after themselves!!

Local libraries have book clubs now and you don't need to go every month. Perhaps your parents could look at something like that through the local authority/library. Day schools are also invaluable. Big news here is that o/h and I spent the afternoon looking at tiles for our en suite. Halleluya! (sp?) A tiler is coming tomorrow to quote - shouldn't be more than £100 I think. So excited - can get rid of the awful, disgusting carpet!!!!! Yipee!!! Going out with friends for dinner so best close. Have a lovely evening. |

Good evening
![]() Had a good day today. Managed to link up our WiFi with the Sky box as OH is desperate to have 'on demand' TV. If it were me, on the whole I'd 'demand' to turn the blessed thing off a bit more often.....ah well ![]() Went into town to get my hair done and forced myself to get a few bits of shopping from Boots as well. Got to the bus stop in good time, only to find that all the schedules were up the creek and I had a further half hour to wait......ah well again ![]() Got home and passed out on the sofa for a whole hour.....must be tired I think ![]() Couldn't go to mum's as daughter has borrowed my car for the day......ah well ![]() Am feeling rather old myself, today I never know what 'old' means any more, anyway, as people can change almost as much between the ages of 60 and 100, as they can from 20 to 60. There's a scary thought for you!!! ![]() ![]() Think maybe I'll shuffle off and watch Bake Off........ Love, Lindy xx |

Morning all.
Tiles chosen and hope we can get a tiler (do not want the same situation we had with roofers). O/H and I went out to dinner and came home to watch Bake Off. So glad no one went. Off to a jewellery sale next door - our neighbour sells jewellery at fairs etc and she has invited me to her 'open house'. Watched a very interesting program about Kasawi (?), the Japanese artist known for her polka dots. Have a lovely day all. Please PM me about meeting for a Xmas lunch - please let me know if you can make a week day or weekend. I am looking at a time in November - perhaps the same place we met before although I know another place next to Leicester Square Tube station. |

Tuesday is a good day for me too but I can make a Saturday as long as I leave before the football crowd is on the train - something to experience no more than ONCE!!! |

Tuesdays would be great for me as well....
Isnt it odd how lazy I have become with social media, on here my punctuation goes out of the window, as does most of my grammar, I was writing an email today and had to check it so many times to make it correct!!!! oops Its odd when you have a day without a car isn't it, it makes me realise how much I rely on it, and how much simpler life would be in some ways without it. Im loving Bake off as well, its so gentle yet entertaining, and the artistic skill and cooking skills are impressive, so is their anyone in particular you would like to win.? I haven't seen eastenders for years, we are currently working our way through Breaking Bad...which is so bizarre it s good!! I can see why so many people like it, as it almost has something to appeal to everyone!!! have a wonderful weekend everyone |

So CBB has finished and Gary is the winner????
How bizarre, I have been occasionally watching, and haven't seen anything about him that makes me think he deserves that at all. Its strange how differently I think to some others!! |

So do I.
Unfortunately tiling is off! O/H didn't like the tiler!!!!! Awful news today about the beheading and Scotland seemingly voting YES. I am not going to watch the news until next month. Cannot bear all the horrible news. I have no idea how I really feel about Scotland. I just don't know why there is this need to be independent of the UK? If we are all going to be part of Europe, and have a similar lifestyle, how is it going to make that much difference one way or another? But then again if it means so much to Scotland, then I am happy to let them go. Although to be perfectly honest, I do feel as if everyone in England should have been entitled to vote as well. In a divorce, even if it is mutual, don't both sides get a chance to say what they want? |

massive problem today with the kitchen... the cupboards made by my OH don't fit........the are about 5 mm out........I have tried to be sympathetic...but I cant do it any more.
I cannot understand how he thinks walls are going to be straight and the same measurement all the way up! Houses just aren't built to this kind of precision...... im trying to keep calm.............. |

So sorry to hear about your kitchen cupboards - what a drag! Hopefully they can be modified.
Been to the gym for the first time in a week. Really pooped but feel better. Off to do some sketching tomorrow with a friend and then lunch. Hope all of you had a lovely weekend. I am thinking of a Tuesday in November. Please PM me with dates you CANNOT do! Shall we do the secret santa thing or skip it? Trying to find an equivalent of Ronseal 5 year wood stain with uv blocker in Redwood colour - so far, no luck. Back to the search!!! |
