Afternoon all

I,m back, i think, but internet is slow

Well i never, i couldn't believe it when it happened
i was on the third floor , and the thunder and lightening were more or less
on top of each other, so loud, then all the lights went out, phone stopped and internet gone.
The main phone sockets have had to be replaced and the internet ones, a few lightbulbs have needed to be changed, but lucky the tv's are all alright

bit scary at the time, and we had been talking about turning things off, because
the storm was getting bad , just didn't move quick enough

going to check back on you all , but a quick glance
did tell me in future i might need to tell Nyannie

TO PUT GEORGE CLOONEY DOWN

Hello dear JJAT, I am back from hols

Glad to see everyone seems okay ( from a quick skim, that is). Very sad story about your son on the plane, Georgy And yes, I was furious about that Everton goal! ( I am like the official sports reporter on hols, always checking my phone for results and letting everyone know how the football / Andy Murray / F1 etc are going.... )

We had a great time by the way, walked more than I thought I could !!! And saw lots of art, architecture, etc, ate good food and relaxed by the sea

Got back late on Monday and on Tuesday spent all day celebrating mum's 93rd birthday ( coffee morning in her sheltered housing, lunch out, etc) Then today another resident was 100 years old so that was another party! Wonderful elderly lady, never married, very sharp mentally, and she coped with all the fuss admirably. The most tear- jerking part was when approx 80 children came in from the local primary school to sing to her and to clap out 100, followed by cheers. There wasn't a dry eye in the house!

So, now back to what passes for real life.....got a flu jab on Saturday, dinner out on Friday, and a huge list of chores to be completed!! I may be gone some time.....

All the best everyone

Lindy xx
Welcome back Lindy
we missed you, sounds like you had a lovely time
away

Enjoyed Bake Off and thought the right person won. When I asked myself, "if I had to eat only one person's baking for a year, whose would it be?", the answer was definitely the person who won ( not putting the name in case anyone hasn't seen it yet ) xx
I sure everyone has seen it now

so i wanted The man with the pencil behind his ear to win
Was it Richard, very good all the way through, just wobbled a bit in the final

Morning all.

Took the bus through George Clooney's new home village -all was quiet - no guards, no police. Jokingly a friend said I should invite him to my 4th July party (I haven't had one in 10 years) - think I might just resurrect it this year.

Georgy - I think we had a similar thunder/lightning clap on Friday night - it was horrible. I turned everything off. There was only one clap though.

Hope we are all getting ready for our Christmas meet. Hopefully we will all be fit and well.

A friend is coming down from London today - will be steering clear of the place for the next week, until all the strikes are finished.

Have a good day all.

the first winter cold has struck, im coughing and sneezing everywhere, I think I need an early night.

We haven't had the lightning, but we have had the torrential rain, which is horrid to try and drive through.

I had the same problem - ask to be put through to a manager and then ask to speak to someone in the UK. If that doesn't work, send a letter to the chairman, yes the chairman, of BT with a copy of your letter to your MP. Tedious - but it works. We had trouble with our phone bill and after speaking to about 10 people I wrote to the chairman - we didn't pay a phone bill for 2 years, such was the size of the refund!

If that fails, change providers. We are with John Lewis and they are efficient and very helpful - and their help is in the UK! We had problems with our phone line and they arranged the engineer!

Hope you are feeling better augusta. I'm due for a pneumonia shot on Friday - oh joy!

Hope you also have a good time with your daughter.

I am off to Oxford today with my friend next door. I also got an email from one of my high-school friends who is coming to London in early December. Hope it isn't the day of our lunch or I won't be coming. . .

My friend and I stayed local - had lunch at the local Italian restaurant and then went into Waitrose for our free coffee.

Have a good day everyone.

evening everyone,

shopping can take up almost all of the day !! especially with my daughter! We did have a lovely time though, it was nice to have lunch.

Then I came home and my computer seemed to have developed a major headache and wouldn't load the internet up properly , so I seemed to have spent most of the rest of the day tearing my hair out!!

I think I have loaded a new security thing, so hopefully it will all be ok, something had triggered the last one, and I had to remove it and reinstall it again. I think its going to be ok , fingers crossed.

and now to sit down and relax, with a nice dose of lem sip....ugh winter colds......

evening all...

Friday evening.....and a lovely lazy weekend ahead to hopefully get rid of my cough and cold. before we start to get into Halloween and fireworks parties!!

We have been making gingerbread men today which is great fun, but tiring, cos so much needs to be organised and sorted.....

and we got our Neff free pans for the induction hob, after filling in a ridiculously long online form and sending them a copy of their receipt to prove we had bought it, tediously long winded, but worth it in the end....

what are you all up to this weekend?

Right, you MUST write to the Chairman with a copy to your MP and also go to Ofcom or the telecommunications ombudsman. Enough is enough! When you send the letter, handwrite the envelope and mark it Personal and Confidential. That way either his PA or he personally will open the letter. Be brief too, stick to one page.

Let me know how it turns out.

Afternoon all

Having a lazy day today - I am going to do some baking and some organizing.

A|so need to renew passport, but that will wait until next month.

Hope you are feeling better augusta. Avoid dairy products and your cough should get better.

Best go - going to try making a cinnamon and apple pie with granny smiths.

Have a lovely day baking nyannie.

just back from getting a new arm for my glasses, only £70, !!! why are these things so stupidly expensive? But at least they are fixed now.

Had great fun walking through town and having a go on the grown up play equipment outside the leisure centre! It was almost surreal to imaging why they put it there, I haven't ever seen anything quite like this before. A grown up outdoor rowing machine, ski walker things parallel bars, about 20 different things to play on, on the edge of the town park.

is this a normal occurrence now?

Good luck sorting BT out georgy, these companies are ridiculous at times..

Hi all

Just got back from a day out in Birmingham Yes, I know it sounds unlikely, but it's my home town and they have a wonderful symphony hall and orchestra. Great concert of Hungarian music by Dvorak, Bartok and Liszt.

Now to relax with some knitting.....

Have a good weekend everyone xx
