Re repairmen - we had the washer/dryer man come 4 times - and he couldn't fix our washer/dryer. O/H even went on the internet.

I'm thinking the hardest part of having a party is getting the house clean.

Hmm - if you don't have superglue just make sure you have a good supply of blue tack. I have fixed many a thing with it.

Too bad we don't live closer. My o/h could make something to fix your oven knob. It is such a worry.

Just did some peeling and cutting of carrots for the humous. Not doing too many - now, just celery and peppers. I have washed kitchen and utility room floors, cleaned kitchen windows and changed bedding on our bed - have to do everything manually - a real drag.

Just apricots to make, clean bathrooms and change bedding in the guest room - oh yes - vacuum the stairs.

Seeing asthma nurse tomorrow - oh joy!!!!

unfortunately can't super glue button down, we need it to get
the oven on, but it needs to stay down some of the time to stop fan and light from staying on. Which is why blue tac is right for the job, but not ideal

the oven is now very old, it has a few problems but i like it , well i,m use to it

husband has ordered new one and while wandering around kitchen decided i could also
do with a new hob, and i think he knew he would get a better deal ..... ordering both.
oh and he liked the look of the induction ones.
so now waiting for a delivery date, by the way gone with Neff

Funny how o/h doesn't want to buy a new washer/dryer - took me 8 hours to do two loads of sheets. He does, however, want to buy an induction hobbs which will mean buying new pots and pans.

More cleaning on the horizon today - after Asthma nurse!

Have to clean guestroom today and do more laundry.

this washer and dryer... he might feel different if it was him having to do all the extra work

as for the induction hob..... its a gadget , its a men's thing , thats why he wants it ,

The repair man came at 4-30, after the call out time was 12 until 4!!

at least it is now fixed and he didn't charge anything!! There were a couple of plastic bits that fell off and needed to be put back on.

how useful that your husband is so sensible georgy, a new cooker and hob! But he is probably right, its best to have something that works properly.

just getting ready for a Christmas party tomorrow at work, I cant wait!! It might even feel a bit like Christmas.

You're right - difficulty is that he thinks he is a martyr as he works all day and I 'sit around watching TV'!!!!

I know it's a man's thing - he's been on cookery courses and cooked for a 2-star Michelin chef so he thinks he's better than anyone else - I hate watching cookery programs with him as he always criticizes something!

Oh well, off to the supermarket for final shop before our party!

the party was lovely, its so funny though , we have all got in from work today and are sitting here collapsed with a cup of tea!! Maybe wine would have been better!!

Just got up. Had a little afternoon kip.

Party went well but so much work. Luckily not much food left over. Just gave pate to our neighbours next door who will be here over Christmas.

I love having people round but after a day of washing towels and sheets and hovering, I've had enough.

Have to clean things up though before we go.

I too love Xmas. Can't believe it is almost here.

lovely lazy day visiting relatives, we have a few friends coming over for drinks tonight, im sorry I don't do cooking, so good old co op has provided the sausage rolls and crisps!!

Well folks, it has only taken me 11 hours to do 3 loads of wash - o/h NOT sympathetic!

Just watched last episode of A PLACE TO CALL HOME - terrific!

I've packed underwear, ironed shirts and tee-shirts (shoulder and arm really hurt now), emptied dustbins and sorted out make-up bag. Just need to get good clothes out of cupboard and pack them. Presents have taken 4 boxes - I've cut down!

We've managed to hang on to our quiet Christmas (by our fingertips sometimes in the last few days) I suspect we've come over as a bit 'bah humbug' to some, but it's important for us to have some time to ourselves for a change.
