I went to see Mockingjay 2 again last night, jewellery class was cancelled and everyone else was out. its a great film

I am almost ready for xmas, just a few more bits to do, and work finishes on Friday, so I have most of next week, luckily. Very wet and miserable here, and its hard to keep the mud out when we walk the dog. he has a great time running in the woods then comes in the house and gets muddy paws everywhere"!

Afternoon all.

Just made some soup, cinnamon star cookies and spice cookies. I am now almost finished - just some cranberry bread and that is it - will just have to pack for Xmas.

O/H is very grumpy - he has a cold and is in bed.

Must go as I have to get dressed!!!!

We went out for a lovely meal last night, my parents decided rather than try and cook a Christmas meal at their house, they would take us out for a meal instead. which was great.

I like going out for meals, and then we had a take away at another friends on Friday night, I might get used to all of this celebrating!

Then watching strictly on Saturday night, an amazing show, but I wanted Kellie to win, and was surprised by the winner. He wasn't the best dancer on the night, but then again what does this matter?

Is there anything good coming up over xmas to watch? I haven't properly looked at the listings yet.

Evening everyone, hope you're all well and nearly ready for Christmas.

The last time I was here I was just heading out to Sainsbury's........just wanted to assure you I haven't actually been there for the past ten days .........although sometimes it bl**dy feels like it.
It's beginning to feel like groundhog day.

So reading back rather quickly as I'm supposed to be cooking dinner, am I to understand that three of us have o/h's with birthdays in December????

How very inconsiderate of them, it's difficult enough to buy something for Christmas never mind birthday as well. Do they not know how busy it gets this time of year??

I blame the parents, early spring fever and this is the result!!

Hope those vitamins are kicking in nyannie and making you feel better.

MiL hasn't been well, she had her flu jab and within twelve hours was vomiting. Dr thought it likely to be reaction to jab but within twenty four hours she'd got urine infection.

She's supposed to be going down to Dorset for Christmas as a grandchild she's never met is coming over from Oz for the holidays with his girlfriend. O/h has spoken to family today and they think she's well enough to travel so it looks like it's going ahead.

Is it bad that I'm thinking thank goodness for that, as it means peaceful time for us?

My sister has been down today, so we've exchanged pressies and she cut my hair for me so I'm all neat and tidy again.

Got to dish dinner, will try to get back later.

Don't know if I will have time to get on the thread again, but I wanted to wish everyone a very happy holiday and a very happy, healthy and peaceful 2016.

I am making batches of cookies and am pooped. Out to get my hair done and then it will be a good clean of the kitchen, utility room and downstairs loo - then coffee with my neighbour whose father died and then more cookie making!

Tomorrow, the rest of the house gets cleaned and then Thursday we are off until Sunday!

Vitamin D tablets seem to be taking hold as I don't feel quite so tired all the time, but it is another 3 months before I have the final results.

yes 3 of us have OH with birthdays in December, and we also have birthdays in the summer....its an interesting co incidence...

leads into all kinds of discussions...although I do sometimes wonder if the time of year you are born, astrology aside does make a difference, Thinking of family parties and various celebrations at different times of year. Its hard to think of yourself as being that special as a child, I should imagine if you share your birthday with Christmas? Or in the UK September birthday children being the oldest in the year, and august born children being the youngest. If you are July or august born you are almost always in the unenviable position of having to play catch up with your more experienced peers! in the same year group.

I wonder what happens with children in other countries?

It sounds lovely for your MIL to meet their grandchild, things like that can be special for everyone, its lovely to be able to care about children so much.

Has anyone else been watching my favourite programme at the moment. Supervet. about the vet who performs amazing operations on animals, especially dogs. He has world wide renown as he is willing to use cutting edge technology on dogs etc and perform operations that have never been tried before. And he has incredible results. He has done things like have metal permanent prosthetic legs , attaching them to existing bone, to give animals movement. and obviously as it is cutting edge, it must be amazingly relevant to surgery for humans as well.

xmas is a strange season and time of year though......
This year I think is summed up by taking the dog for a long walk in the pouring rain.....it was ok, but hs had odd undercurrents!

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas.

We got back from our break. So relaxed I was exhausted when I got home. Since then it has been washing and ironing.

O/H has a cold so we aren't doing anything for New Year! He usually falls asleep upstairs and I watch Jools Holland.

did you have a nice time away nyannie? My parents went away and had a nice time, but they always have such a long list, of the food wasn't very nice........etc sometimes I wonder why they bother?

is everyone ok after all this flooding? the weather has changed so much the past few years? those poor people being flooded out..... and unless things change, it will happen again next year

And we saw Star wars!! what a great film.....not brilliant but so watchable and so evocative of childhood!!

Happy New Year everyone from a NYEve party pooper. Both my husband and I fell asleep well before midnight.

I have had a great day clearing out - so much paper - and four bags of books for charity shop!

Well that xmas done and dusted for another year

well sort of...... i will be finding glitter for a few months doesn't matter how much you clean

sitting down catching up, need to read around, see what everyone has been up to.

also watching the cricket, how well are we playing this test and the last, nice
to see the boys playing so well.

i would also like to see the back of this rain Augusta, its also felt a lot colder these last
few days.
