Sorry I've been MIA for a while I seem to have been running around being Florence Nightingale to certain members of my family. You just have to feel sorry for them if I'm the best they can come up with! I have been having a flying lurk now and then - usually in the witching hours - but today, I have the afternoon off. Think I'll go shopping for stuff to cheer me up. Hmm - shoes or chocolate?!

I'm fine - well bad foot and still have some kind of cold/infection/virus - but I'm surviving. Glad to hear your are busy.

Just spent the afternoon labelling my photos and transferring them to a disk. Never done that before. O/H stood over me while I did it.

John really has bulked up. I hope he doesn't get any bigger.

Have you been able to work out if he has a girlfriend? Would love him to be settled.

It's been like a cricket match here - rain stopped play, which means we've all decamped indoors. It's blowing a gale and it's not very warm.
This isn't what they forecast, honestly I could do better standing on the Downs with a lump of seaweed!

O/h gave up constructing the new fence, he's already got the hump as he had to change a tyre on the car this morning as it's got a large screw in it. Strange how it nearly always happens when neighbours have the builders in! Now he's trawling through the monthly budget (I've had to hand over all the receipts I've accumulated ). Why do I feel his day's about to get worse?

I was going to weed the garden as it's looking very scruffy. So instead I've been tidying up indoors as Queen of the Duster (my little sis) is popping down tomorrow and she can detect dust at 50 yards!!

She's going to cut my hair AGAIN, it grows so fast. I'm having it cut short this time with some layers in it, a bit of a Kate Silverton type thingamabob - no pun intended.

Funnily enough I discovered today how to transfer photos from my old camera onto the iPad. I had to buy a bit of kit, of course - a camera connector from Apple - but it has worked a treat. I also bought an AV connector so I think I'll be able to show the photos as a slideshow on the TV (this would have come in handy if I'd known it 2 years ago for mum's 90th birthday ).

Tomorrow I'm planning to work out the new camera that OH gave me for Christmas and which I haven't yet had time to use.

Aren't we all busy bees - it must be Spring!

I love downloading photos, but ....really need to work out how to back mine all up onto a CD or similar, daughter lost 2 years worth of photos when her laptop got a virus and she had to reset it...


I still miss photo albums, the photos online are lovely to look at, but im much more likely to glance over real photos....and cos we update computers etc....loads of my photos are stored on old devices.....

Now, I never thought of that ! Do you think that's the best way bblover? Currently I have some photos printed and in albums (up to maybe 8 - 10 years ago), some on CD, some on the laptop and now some on the iPad I would really love for there to be some standardisation....and don't even get me started on all the great pics I've seen on Facebook or similar that I don't have any copy of at all.....

Any tips anyone?

Well i have one,and 8GB one to be precise,and it's better,you can store so many pix,they're small,don't take lot of place,so for me it's better.You can get one up to 32GB,i think it's easier way.

The pix,he's been sticking to working out it looks like,the hair looks longer too,but i have to say i hate those vests on guys

We store lots of things on memory sticks, but luddite me still takes a hard copy.

I print all my photos out or have them professionally developed. Problem is, we have no idea how long memory sticks stay fresh before they deteriorate. Guess I am very old-fashioned.

Sun is shining but I'm still in cold mode - stuffy nose, itchy ear, cough and bad foot. Still, going to make an effort and go to the garden centre today!

I like te idea of a memory stick, just to use for photos, now I can go and find a colourful and distinctive one....

Always backup your PC/laptop. I was lucky to start doing that just before Laura deleted some of my pictures and was able to retrieve them from the backup very easily. You should always backup anyway. Also make a restore copy set of disks in case the worst situation happens on your computer. End or sermon

Well he's always been an interesting tweeter! Somehow I think the admission was more of a joke than a confession - with the added spice of a wind-up. But I'm sure the court has already found him guilty. I'll go lurk in a moment!

The sermon is sensible - I'm always meaning to back things up - and somehow never get around to it. And I used to be good at backing things for work - notes, lesson plans, tests, documents etc. - but personal stuff? - disaster! You've persuaded me - I'll buy some USB sticks this week.

I second this Ali. As you know I had an awful time last year when my computer got a virus and apparently lost everything The engineer did eventually retrieve most things from some partition or another, but that was after I'd had days of worry and (almost) despair

Now I try to remember to back up documents....but photos still faze me a bit. I"m sure it is a good idea to print them off - after all technology will change, hard copy won't - but then I'd still have to put them somewhere.......
