Hi to you too Deefs. Nice to have visitors - glad I tidied the thread
up - just bought some biscuits too so hope you will visit us too.

I'm just drying off after a quick trip into town to do some shopping and banking. It is really coming down steadily -and we already have three roads closed because of flooding. Whatever next?

Morning all. How are we all?

Like winter outside but we do have weak sunshine. Hail expected later.

Hope Lindy is enjoying her break and not too put off by the weather.

No news from John I see. Oh well, I had best get another bottle of smelling salts just in case.

afternoon all...just about dodged the rain today, but it feels so so cold.....

I had to bring all my geraniums back inside again this morning.

have we heard anything new from John????

Morning all!

No news from John that I know of.

Just got in from retrieving my dustbin. Thank goodness I have a side gate or I'd not know where it was.

Off to London today to have lunch with a friend and then ballet with another friend - and staying overnight.

Hope Lindy is having a good stay in Plymouth although the weather there yesterday was pretty awful.

See you all tomorrow.

He's been tweeting again.
So we know that he's planning for a Batman and Robin reunion (think that first tweet is from a Batman script)
And he's arriving in London in mid-July.
Yay!!!!!

Extra bananas - check
Extra milk - check
Dominos on alert - check
MaccyDs on alert - check
Some sunnny weather ordered - check

Yep - John, all is ready....!

Thanks muggins. Just about recovered from the news. Been looking round the thread and think it needs repainting and some new cushions.

How about off white for the colour? Would paint it in the Australian and British flags, but think it is a bit much.

So sorry to hear about your teeth georgy. Hope you are feeling much much better. Rinsing with Difflam or salt water really helps.

Have you had any time to take care of yourself?

Woo hoo, not been on the thread for a couple of days, turn on the laptop and what do I read.....John's coming to visit.

Hope the weather's a bit warmer by then, not too bad today if you're in the sunshine.

Sorry to hear about your tooth georgy, hope you're feeling better. How's o/h getting on with his knee, have you confiscated those crutches yet?

Talking of bins, we had a letter today telling us about our new recycling service that starts in June.

We are about to be issued with another wheelie bin, to add to the two we already have and the green box.

Like you nyannie we have a side gate, but what on earth do you do if you have to store this lot in the front garden?

Hope you enjoyed your trip to London and the ballet.

Tweetfest continues
The Beckham news has disturbed John's sleep - tweeting at sillyo'clock Melbourne time. Liked the cat video he linked to in his second tweet - mt little angel has done many of those things...

He has said more in the past few days than he has said all year .

Those cats are cute, but some are almost downright dangerous. the way they bounce at and attack some small children... But I love the ones that chase the lights...and fall off things.

So are we all ready for Eurovision tomorrow?

And what does anyone else think about the idea of fast tracking high achieving Graduates onto a specialist social working course?

I do agree there does seem to be a massive shortage of suitable qualified social workers.....but....can you imagine how effective these young people are going to be...sorting out some pretty complex family issues????

Its bad enough meeting the fast tracked headteachers, and some young enthusiastic trainee teachers........who know it all from the book, and are full of optimism and enthusiasm. But who in reality know virtually nothing.

I have a feeling teaching is a slightly safer situation though than a social work one. How is a young inexperienced graduate going to cope with a situation like that of Baby P? Where it sounds as if the family were quite obstructive to any outside intervention at all? I've met some social workers who prefer not to work in children's services, because the legal accountability and consequences are so dangerous.

Hopefully Croatia - cruise around islands and three days in Dubrovnik. I suspect it might be too expensive though so will have to look at a plan B.

The food fayre sounds wonderful. Wish we'd have them around here.

Hi nyannie, countdown sounds like a plan.

We've had a sunny day too, quite a change from what they were promising at the beginning of the week. Do wish the air would warm up a bit though, it's still chilly.

A holiday, how exciting. Croatia I'm told is stunningly beautiful. Certainly looked lovely on A Place In The Sun.
Didn't our georgy go on a cruise around their?
