where are you planning to go to?

Its a miserable overcast day here, but ....we have just been to a lovely food fayre , and they were very generous with samples of food.....mmmmmmm
Sounds like a good day out augusta. Does that save you having to cook this evening?

It's our wedding anniversary tomorrow - 34 years!! Where has the time gone?

Lovely flowers arrived this morning - Lilies, my favourites - from o/h.

Hopefully Croatia - cruise around islands and three days in Dubrovnik. I suspect it might be too expensive though so will have to look at a plan B.

The food fayre sounds wonderful. Wish we'd have them around here.

That sounds lovely. I decided that instead of a holiday this year, I wanted to get my teeth fixed....hoping that we might have a bit of money left for a brief trip somewhere..

now im wondering if I made the right decision?

But there are always day trips out, and fun things to do....I think this summer I would like to go to Harry Potter world, I saw the brochure for this the other day and it looked wonderful.

so is anyone else going to be watching Eurovision tonight?

Just a quick hello as am back from Plymouth Had a really good break, although boy, did it rain!! On the worst day (Tuesday) I stayed in the hotel, had room service - chicken salad - for lunch and read almost a whole Anne Tyler book! Bliss Enjoyed the rest of the week too, lots of trips out etc and am ready for another rest now!

Hope all's well with everyone. Back soon, Lindy xx

Didn't watch Eurovision - saw an excellent program on F Scott Fitzgerald last night. I remember reading a couple of biographies about him.

No news of John as far as I know.

Glad to have you back Lindy - want to hear all about your adventures soon.

I love Anne Tyler. Loved the Pilot's Wife although it was very sad.

Room service - very very decadent and really wonderful!!

Hello again

Happy anniversary Lena

Wish I could say it's great to be back .....it is, in a way, but of course there are jobs to be done, food to be made, washing up....funny how home can be so comfortable, and yet sometimes so demanding at the same time!

We went away with a group of older people, so I could just about keep up (whilst at the same time being in awe of the stamina of some of the 90 year olds! ) We went to the usual things, my favourite being the trip underground into a copper mine ... Wish I could attach my pics, which for the first time I have managed to load onto the iPad

Ah, room service.......I could handle a lot of that!

Have a good day everyone

ohh you will be near me then. I can teach you ow to order bier or wine
Hi nyannie, countdown sounds like a plan.

We've had a sunny day too, quite a change from what they were promising at the beginning of the week. Do wish the air would warm up a bit though, it's still chilly.

A holiday, how exciting. Croatia I'm told is stunningly beautiful. Certainly looked lovely on A Place In The Sun.
Didn't our georgy go on a cruise around their?
bib - yes she was in Croatia last summer.

Hi Nat

Good to see you posting.

We may not go to Croatia - finances. Really don't want to dip into our savings. We will see.

I went to Split, Dubrovnik, Hvar, Korcula, Trogir and Brac and Omis about 30 years ago - went for a month by myself and managed with my bad German. Wine is my drink of choice although I have very fond memories of slivovits (spelling?).

Have you recovered from your holiday Lindy? Coming back from holiday is always like that and a few days later it is as if you were never away.

No news from John - still are we less than 60 days now?

holidays seem a bit like that, There is always so much to do to actually run and organise a house. and to look after kids etc I think someone has badly underestimated this in the past, and in our have it all world, we are expected to be able to do everything...

when we cant ....

I think the worst thing about going away is coming back and seeing all the jobs around the house you kept meaning to do...like external paintwork... but managed to forget

External paintwork!?! I was thinking about more basic things, like 'what's for dinner?'

Yes, I did see the documentary about Oz and very good it was, too. Made the place seem much more interesting than I had somehow previously imagined. And Simon Reeve (the presenter/reporter) isn't half bad, either

Morning all.

No news of John I see.

Glad to see you posting georgy, how are things?

Have you recovered from your trip yet Lindy?

I went to Croatia when it was part of Yugoslavia. Went by myself and stayed in Split and then went island hopping by public ferry. Had a great time. Even took public bus to Omis and then a couple of years later went with a friend to Dubrovnik. I really was adventurous as a youth. Also went to a conference in Bovec in Slovenia about 20 years ago. Remember I had to fly to Zurich then get on a prop plane (scared stiff) where I had lovely chocolate cake to fly to Llublijana (sp). Then a coach to Bovec. Some of the most beautiful scenery ever.

Just ordered some tickets for the Stuttgart Ballet in November. Getting fed up having to order tickets so far in advance - who knows if we will even be alive then? Had to do it as when I've left it closer to the time there aren't good tickets left. Oh well.

We are due to have our electricity cables replaced on Thursday, so no electricity from 8.30 am until 4 pm. Need to replace phone and get o/h to turn off all switches and unplug things. Don't need this at all!

Well have a good day all.

Guess I have recovered from my holiday. Was back to work with a bang yesterday, then today I was up at 5 (you know what an early riser I am ) to take hubby in for a cataract operation. They call all the morning day case people in at 7.30, then work their way through them until lunchtime. Very frustrating. Still, fingers crossed it will be a quick and effective operation......they usually are

Just off to fuel myself with coffee to stay awake and get on with some work. Have a good day all
