Hi Deefs - nice to see you. I have been very lucky in my life. Travelled the world (through work and holidays), I have and still do write and edit - working on a book for my own amusement at the moment. Now I am painting and drawing portraits. Funny how life works out.

I know what you mean about missing people. I was thinking over the weekend how many people I've lost touch with. Glad my ex flatmate -NZ friend and I have regained contact. Wish you could come to our meet on the 1 June. If we are all still around come December, I will organize a meet before Xmas.

I wonder how long John is visiting the UK for. If he is here in December, I might just ask him to join us at the Xmas meet. On second thought. . .

Hello to everyone on JJat, so lovely to see some old friends.
How are you all?

Thank you all so much for your kind anniversary wishes.
34 years - you get less for murder!!

That comment came from my brother-in-law, who stopped laughing when my sister reminded him that they'd been married 32 years.

Had a quick scan through, now to go back and read properly. Can't believe it's three days since I put the laptop on - most unlike me.

Then you saw more off it then me. I'v seen Zagreb Pula and Rovinj. Slivovica can hit you fast and hard One ok two still fine then you have 3 4 5 and then they hit you all at once

hope you do go to croatia, Nyannie,
one of the most beautiful places, i have been to
cruising the coast line is fantastic,

i know it was due to join the euro, but not a member yet, i think
so food, drink and the restaurants, are very reasonable if
not cheap, well compared with the rest of Europe and the flight is short

well going to read around
and catch up
after a very busy weekend

by the way
any more news from John ”

They are coming into family of Europe this summer but stil no Euro but the prices are going up because they want rich people on their beaches and not the common people, so they are raising prices for holidays, food and drinks.

hubbie still hasn't gotten over paying £7.50 for 1 bottle
of water in the South of France

I haven't gotten over paying £10 for a small deodorant at the pharmacy down the street from our hotel! Glad to hear Croatia isn't in the euro.

I know what you mean. One of the Germans I met when I was in Split had quite a few and he was nursing his hangover for more than two days!

Glad to see you back georgy, I was getting worried - hope you are having enough time for yourself. Is your son renting a flat in Watford for the time being?

We have paid £9 for a bottle of water in one of the London restaurants - won't mention which. Needless to say we now have tap water!

Morning all.

Meeting a friend for lunch in Oxford today - we generally meet for coffee and then go to lunch so I will be home in time to shut everything down - doing pipe work so we won't have electricity from 8.30 to 4 pm and it will affect our phone too. Putting the old one in and charging up my mobile for essential calls only.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

I will be confirming the numbers for our meet next Thursday, 30 May.

Please let me know if you WILL NOT be attending by 12 noon on Thursday, 30 May. I will send you details on Thursday afternoon

maybe we could all invest in a water company

its amazing how expensive things can be for no good reason...

how long does it take your son to get to work? cos London is such a pain to commute around. my daughter is spending hours at times travelling across London to get to various placements... However I spose the main advantage of this, is that she can do it, at some of the other uni's it wasn't possible to commute so kids were expected to rent another room near to the placement.

A quick good morning to all of you before the electricity gets shut off - it should be back by 4 pm.

Hope everyone has a good day. Lots of wind here.

See you all tomorrow - or maybe later.

Grey in the face is never good

especially when he is a normal colour

I hope everything goes ok, and they don't need to turn the electricity off again.....this is so unusual, Ive never heard of anything like this happening before in an urban area....

its both sunny and torrential rain here,,,,,alternately.....

Yes I too hate driving on the M25, whats weird for me is that I remember watching it being built...

they had these huge earth movers, like something out of Thunderbirds, with gigantic wheels....and we watched from a bridge as they excavated the fields underneath...fascinating...

and I was one of the first driving on the M25 just after I had passed my test on the stretch between Potters Bar and Brentwood, it was surreal cos it was so deserted....

Its not quite like that now....

my youngest is loving this placement... she is leaving her shared house in Leyton at the end of this month, but doesn't know where she is going to live next year, Trouble is she doesn't need to rent anywhere until September and houses in London get filled within weeks so its hard to plan in advance...

I hate to think how many car loads we are going to need to do to empty her flat......its amazing how much is acquired in a year.....

Hi bblover - and everyone else.

Nice to see you. Power back on - as is the central heating. Freezing here 7 degrees.

Will turn it off shortly - going to bed to watch The Good Wife and my current favourite Nashville!!!!

Good to be back in the 21st century with lights and TV and electric kettle. . .
