I like small cars, that I don't feel worried about driving, but my biggest issue is parking.....small cars fit into multistory car parks....all of them, I find larger cars much harder...

When I was borrowing my O/H s car It was a nightmare to park.....

Anyway, my little ''uppity'' is now here, its dark blue..and very cute. I wasn't keen on it being called ''uppity'' but OH tends to be good at finding names for things, and now he has started calling it this...I don't think its worth trying to change it...

There seem to be quite a few people on here who are interested in cars, im impressed....sort of...and still somewhat bemused.....Cars are for getting from a to b...As long as they work, and can transport junk, like everything from my daughters uni room....what else is needed?

Tuesday sounds fine to me Lindy and so do the sandwiches - are you working augusta? If so, why don't we start around 5ish!

We have the sandwiches, strawberries and booze sorted out - how about some tarts or salads? Wonder if you have guessed that I like to eat. . . ?

Your new car sounds wonderful and although my OH and I love Top Gear we agree with you - a car is a tool to get you from A to B. When I was young I used to have a chevy convertible - drove to university in the midwest and back - it was a big car but it was automatic which made it really easy to drive and park - and of course mostly we parked in car parks which had bigger spaces than the ones over here.

Morning everyone

Just finished watching Saturday Kitchen - really yummy recipes for poached chicken and tomato risotto - OH has now hung muslin bags to extract the tomato essence.

We've had a bit of rain and it is quite blowy out - a small tree doesn't look too good - think it will have to be cut down unfortunatelly.

Hope everyone is OK. I have an interesting afternoon of watching Ascot and doing the mountain of ironing I've built up.

See you all later.

I'm watching the Voice...bit disappointing in some ways.....my vote's with Matt or Leah at the moment ...still undecided

And now Matt's out

I'm sure the best singers aren't in this final
Lindy_Loue

And now Andrea wins

Not my cup of tea at all.....the programme or the singer ....still, it was suitable family viewing I guess

Morning all.

Tuesday at 5 pm it is then. I've found some towels I bought the last time I was at Wimbledon - and I have all my old programs too.

I watched an old Marple and some of the World Singer of the Year competition. I also love The Americans - anyone else watching? Some of the storylines are a bit far-fetched, but the acting is great.

Just read an article where someone had a son called John James - got me to thinking.

Have a good day all. - and remember Tuesday at 5 pm!!

ive put Tuesday at 5 into the diary.....what shall I bring? Pimms and sparkling white wine?

and the strawberries might be ripe from the garden....

Just watching ITV getting ready for Agatha Christie......have you seen the new panel game.

Denise Welch won £20,000 for her chosen charity, playing a game, based on the 2p machines at the pier..

you know the one, you let the kids go on, cos each go was only 2p, and they could feed loads of 2ps into the machine....watch the pennies fall, and spend virtually nothing...
I just cant believe that ITV have created a game based on this...

There certainly are - sadly we had to watch Countryfile and the Miss Marple.

Think we will have a good party - hope more threadlings are able to attend.

Sun is shining and I've just been out with my bug killer spray. Aphids on my daisy and privet. Hate using bug killer but hate the damage the bugs do more.

Have to leave you all - I've a friend coming for coffee this morning and want to make some muffins. Spent yesterday tackling the ironing mountain.

The Cardiff competition was won by a wonderful American singer called Jamie Barton - look out for her in future! Fantastic communicator as well as having a warm, complex voice. Makes you feel good when she's on stage

Have a good day all

home made muffiins sound lovely, hope there will be some left over for tomorrow..

I love Miss Marple, they have such high production values, and always look so sleek and glossy..

I did the ironing yesterday and was wondering how it works out that most womens clothes nowadays require very little ironing....but my OH still needs shirts etc ironed....So in the ironing pile, I had 2 items and my OH had about 15 !!!

Something seems wrong with this .... As im the one that does most of the ironing.....

So glad you can attend. Just saw Federer and Tsonga matches - really good tennis.

Want to see some of the matches on the digital stations - sometimes they are more interesting.

I'm doing dinner so i'd best get on with it.

See you all tomorrow!

I feel your pain
but only recently, since my son started work

nasty shirts, i have a few items that stay in the bottom of the
ironing pile, because they are that bad to iron
and now buy nothing made of linen

you should introduce the iron to your hubby
i've been told, they are never to old,
to learn a new skill

Evening all Just checking in before I collapse into bed.....

Augusta, I have given up almost entirely on ironing, everyone here does their own That way, if someone doesn't like ironing, they avoid buying clothes that are difficult to get right. Works a treat for me anyway!

Forced myself into work today. Really want to have a couple of months off and catch up on some reading, exhibitions etc. However, there is 6 weeks more work to be done on my current project, which takes me through to the first week of August I did manage to get some help from others today, though. I'm going to project manage and write reports etc, mainly from home. Other people are going to do most of the legwork. Sounds like a good deal to me!

Was home just in time to see the end of the first set between Nadal and Darcis, then dashed off to see 'Gloriana' (an opera by Benjamin Britten) from the Royal Opera House, on a live feed to our local cinema. First time we've done this, but o/h is a Britten fan so I booked it for him. Boy, was it great!!! Susan Bullock, I salute you, I have never seen a better portrayal of Elizabeth 1 Toby Spence was pretty good as the Earl of Essex too

Really wired now of course, wide awake, but must try to get some rest so it's off to bed for me ....

Sleep tight my dear JJAT, sweet dreams

See you at 5 tomorrow

Lindy xx

A very early good morning to you all, or in my case a very late goodnight.

Just been reading back, not been on for a few days, o/h is home this week so have been enjoying some 'us' time.

Watched a bit of tennis, missed Federer but watched Nadal v Darcis, what a match.

I see John has made this weeks column
Talk about play the victim rofl.
It will be interesting to see whether he chooses to respond.

Do we know if John watches the tennis?

Hope to make the thread party later today, should be fun. Looking forward to catching up with you all.
Might try a Pimms, never had one before.

Can I bring anything?

Morning all.

I'm very sad, Prof Mick Aston from Time Team died. Couldn't believe it. I loved Time Team and somehow Sunday wasn't complete without it.

I saw the Federer match - or exhibition as one of the commentators called it - blink and you missed it. As for the Nadal match - I suspect there really is something the matter with his knees - I kept saying to myself that Rafa should be making a comeback. However, Darcis played out of his skin. The passing shots were amazing and he has a good serve.

The Hewitt/Warwincka match was a disappointment although it is interesting that Hewitt won.

Lena - how about more sandwiches - we might get very very hungry.

See you all later.

RIP Prof Aston

. . . .comes into the thread with a wheelbarrow containing bubbly, strawberries, 1/2 fat creme fraiche (for those trying to loose weight), strawberry shortcakes, 4 fold-up chairs and purple and green cushions. . .

I guess I'm the first one. Thank goodness Laura Robson won. Thought Djokovich did well and Serena was, well, Serena. . .

Hope a dozen bottles of champagne will be enough. I have offered to cook dinner so can't stay too long. . . goes back for another few chairs and some crisps. . .
