Happy Belated Birthday georgy, hope you enjoyed your special day and were spoiled rotten - you deserve some nice treats.
Glad the baby has been born - took them almost 5 hours I think to announce it. I really hope the baby will be brought up to experience as normal life as possible - away from the stuffy formality of the palace. Saw the interesting play about Richard Burton and Liz Taylor doing Private Lives - wonderful - as was the interesting program about Richard Burton's Diaries (have just ordered them from Amazon). Two people who really loved each other but couldn't live together without destroying each other. John - if you are in the UK - could you please let us know? Thanks!!!! Sadly I am grumpy today - too humid to sleep - think I got 3 hours. No lightning, no rain here - just humidity. Feel like a soggy blanket! No rain to speak of here either. So, although it's not as hot, it's much more humid ...Can't wait for the weather to break. I'm finding it hard to concentrate on anything and am just....weary of it all, I guess. I hate this muddle-headed feeling Can't even summon up the energy to be !! At least you can do that...

I have to admit I thought I was going to melt into a puddle last night. It was absolutely stifling and as the night went on it got hotter and more humid.
![]() There was thunder rumbling all around us but no rain. My courier arrived this morning, he lives about 8 miles inland and he said they had one of the biggest storms complete with HAILSTONES he could ever remember during the night. ![]() We had a couple of heavy showers mid morning, then the sun came out and now it feels more humid than ever. Thunder is still rumbling around. Forecast says a light shower early evening for us. Still no news of John, but I did see a thread yesterday saying that Sam Pepper is in LA and doing well for himself. Has his own Youtube channel and is hugely popular, with his videos chalking up large viewing figures.

Glad to hear Sam Pepper is doing well. How does he make money from YouTube?

Sam Pepper gets money from You tube because of commercial sponsorship. somehow you register yourself, then the advertisers who pop up on You tube etc, will sponsor and pay money for x number of views. so the more times the site is viewed, the more money he will receive. im not sure I understand it exactly, but he seems to be earning a reasonable living from it and having fun... |

Hope you have a good holiday augusta - hope you come up with more jewellery lines - want to see them at the Christmas meet.
Got up to the sound of rain which was coming in. Boy, did it feel good and the garden has really perked up. The only time I've seen rain like this was during the hurricane season in NY. Didn't last long though but the garden has gotten a very good soak. O/H home today but we are going to go out to lunch - need to do some major cleaning today but will wear ankle brace as I expect to be standing for long periods. Have a good day everyone. |

Great that they've named the royal sprog after you Georgy - but they had no choice once he muscled in on your birthday!
![]() It's the usual time for state schools to break up here - the summer holidays are always shorter in schools than colleges - and independent schools have longer holidays too. Summer holidays used to be a bit longer, but then they put all half terms to a full week and introduced teacher training days - it all came out of the holidays, which tend to be less than 6 weeks now. Always knew I should have taught in the independent sector... ![]() Still no sign of our pet Aussie - he's probably here in disguise. Look out for a cricket fan with long dark hair, big sunglasses and a big floppy hat. And listen out for an England fan with an Aussie accent - dead give-away that!

I think some schools chose to break up on Friday, and use mon and tues as training days, but mine went through til the official end of term. ![]() its pretty hot here, we had rain this morning, so I woke up thinking things would be better, but it didn't take long for the sun to come up. ![]() Wandered around town this morning, everywhere seems to have an almost permanent sale on, and loads of coffee shops seem to have opened up everywhere. But it wasn't really the day to do any kind of shopping. too hot and muggy.... |

Morning all.
No news of John I see - guess if he is here he might be jetlagged. It is so annoying not hearing anything - not that I'm nosey or anything ![]() ![]() Lovely and cool this morning. Washing on and bed stripped, watered hanging baskets and wrote a letter to an old friend. Went into town yesterday as 0/h had eye exam. Bought the latest book by Thomas Keneally and bought myself a new top. Will be useful on holiday I think. I also bought a copy of Richard Burton's Diaries. Have just started them - he really does write beautifully. Think he would have been happier as an author. Agree with you augusta, every shop seems to have a sale, but only until the end of July. I bought a few things but most haven't tempted me. Well, best get on. Want to finish the ironing mountain before o/h gets up and goes to work. |

Want to finish the ironing mountain before o/h gets up and goes to work. morning all. just done a silver order for my jewellery, now the next thing will be to sit down and make a few bits and pieces. Its really good fun to do, but it really is a two steps forward, one step back kind of process. I had an idea for a ring, but having made it, I cant fit the stone in properly... Im starting to have ideas, but need my tutor to help me put them into place, and work out how best to solder or connect them. At the beginning I was trying to be really careful and not waste anything, now I'm starting to be a bit less worried !! I love gemstones and the colour and texture of them all, but its much harder to connect them to the silver than I realised, if the fit isn't completely accurate, it doesn't work. I'm still learning, but having great fun doing it. ![]() And on Sunday we are going to Houghton Hall, in Norfolk to see an exhibition sponsored by Christies of paintings from Robert Walpole's collection that have been reassembled for a one off exhibition. Most of the paintings were bought by the Russian royal family and are now in The Hermitage. It sounds an amazing collection. The fly in the ointment is my darling daughter, who is meant to be coming with me and my OH...but she keeps muttering about being too busy, too tired and too ill ......so its going to be a bit of a watch this space kind of thing....!!! come on John , we don't need details about what is going on, just a few general comments ......would be perfect.....

Hi all
![]() Jewellery sounds amazing Augusta - keep it up, I'm sure you will ![]() Saw a drama about Liz Taylor and Richard Burton last night - very moving. And I expect his diaries are even better Enjoyed the Anniversary Games tonight , guess I'm a sucker for watching almost any kind of competitive sport! ![]() Won't be around much in the next day or two. We're off to Stratford to see 'All's Well that Ends Well' and have a meal. Should be good, I hope Then on Sunday we've said we'll take part in a local 'car run' and lunch. Not really sure what this entails but willing to have a go.....![]() Best get some rest anyway. Sleep tight dear JJAT :sleep:and I hope everyone has a good weekend ![]() Lindy xx PS The predictive text on this iPad interpreted (take) "part in" as "Parton" !!! John, this could be a hint........

Have a lovely time in Stratford Lindy. Last thing I saw there was Camino Real - excellent.
Hope everyone is enjoying the day - thank goodness not the heat. Don't think I could put up with it - especially with this brace on. Have to pump it up twice a day. A real drag!!!! Well, best go and get myself dressed. Going to a party tonight and must figure out what to wear from my limited wardrobe. |

the party sounds fun ..what are you going to wear?
im half way through trying to sort out the piles of paperwork in the dining room. there is stuff there from years ago....like magazines showing John and Josie on them.....My OH and I are such hoarders. I hate to let things go...but I m going to have to learn to become a bit more ruthless. We don't need half of this stuff. The weather forecaster predicted rain, but it hasn't got here yet...I think the worst was meant to be tonight and this evening. I could do a bit of gardening, cos although most of the garden is very dry, certain things like bindweed are growing all over the place....maybe I could go and take a few pictures ? then I can show people what the garden looks like. have a lovely weekend everyone hope John is enjoying his ...wherever he actually is..... |

Morning all. Party was OK but as I couldn't dance and o/h refuses to it wasn't that much fun for me. My foot started to hurt too so we left early. It was casual so wore trousers. Really exciting day today - cleaning out fridge and defrosting and cleaning the larder fridge in the kitchen. Also I must finish my tax return now that it is cooler. Hope you enjoy your Sunday - plants look a bit happier with the rain. Hope we get more. See you later maybe. |

Evening all
![]() Sorry the party didn't go well, nyannie And hope you found something else to do today in addition to de-frosting the fridge! In fact, I'm sure you will have done ![]() Georgy, am thinking of your family in Egypt with all the current upheaval and hope all is well xFeel as though I had a proper weekend, with the play yesterday and car run today .....I can recommend the Rooftop Restaurant at the Waterside Theatre in Stratford if anyone is going there - excellent food and service - and air conditioned !!!! The theatre itself has been remodelled since I was last there, now has a full apron stage and tiers of seats a bit like at the Globe - and the production itself was fabulous Well worth a bit of effort to get there.Managed to catch a bit of the Parasport from the Olympic Stadium late this afternoon. Really enjoyed it and had a great lump in my throat as David Weir, who is one of my all-time heroes, raced to first place in the mile race........ah, the memories from last year... ![]() Well, back to the grindstone tomorrow. Have resolved to try to work a bit more quickly, so that I can have more time off ![]() Sleep tight JJAT :sleep: Lindy xx |

Morning all
Sounds like you had a great weekend. We didn't defrost the fridge - played scrabble and read! Did do some laundry and some gardening too. May I echo your thoughts for georgy too. Hope everyone is safe and sound in Egypt. Dreadful what is going on. Seems like Syria is not big news although the suffering goes on. Off to London tomorrow for a special lunch. You know, it will soon be time for me to rustle up support for our annual Christmas do! Boy does time fly!!!!! Well, must go and wash the kitchen floor - going out for brunch later and need to get the house in some kind of order. Still no news of John - he must be in the UK by now!!!!! |

Good morning
Thanks for all your concern, family are all good in Egypt, safe and sound, just keeping away from the protest areas, it helps that they all live in the same block of flats, so they can keep a watch out for each other. but Mum and Dad, did throw me a bit of a curve ball, the end of last week. They want to move, relocated to another area, while they still can, so have been working on that. Hopefully this week is going to be a bit quieter, and i can be around a bit more. ![]() and Augusta looking forward to seeing more samples of your work, i've been looking for some long silver earrings for a while. sorry the party didn't go so well Nyannie ![]() looking to go up to London soon, might hit a few museums, got to find something to amuse my boy. If anyones going to be around and about, let me know we might be able to meet up

georgy id love to meet up in London. I was just thinking that I need to find things to do... its quite a long summer period.
The exhibition at Houghton Hall was wonderful, it was a bit out on a limb and in the middle of nowhere, but the house and the paintings were wonderful. It was the kind of show of old masters, that makes you forget how difficult painting can actually be. There was a wonderful Rembrandt, and Rubens and VanDyck, oh there were so many beautiful paintings and art works. And the house itself has amazing interior design and ceiling decoration and silk wallpaper and velvet wallhangings. It was incredible to see the whole thing, intact. As an empty stately home, it would have been impressive, but with the paintings in situ it was amazing. Robert Walpole remodelled the house to display his art collection, so for instance wooden benches are carved around the marble wall busts etc.... Then the art collection was sold to Catherine the Great, and removed to Russia. What also made it special were the gardens. Its a beautiful old Palladian house, and it looks like the current owners are remodelling the gardens to suit the period the house was built. And they have added in a few modern art pieces, like a Richard Long, and a massive sky scraper, where you sit and stare at the sky, very calm and contemplative. It was a lovely day out now to go and do some more work on my silver making .......... |

Houghton Hall sounds wonderful Augusta
How long is the exhibition on, I wonder? Guess it would be too far for me so really I'm just daydreaming........ Georgy I might be able to meet in London though am still working at the moment. Should be finished end of August (apart from a few occasional sessions) so am definitely up for the (ahem..) Christmas meet
