Just watched Robredo knock Federer out of the US Open!!
![]() Amazing, and quite sad to see Fed so far off his best ![]() Now for some sleep   Night all xx ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Think he should retire at the end of the season. Don't think I could take much more of this - I know his back isn't 100% . He has enough money and needs to take care of himself. No fun watching him anymore. ![]()

Morning all.
Well, I am just about organized and have put everything in clear plastic bags. Have taken out o/h's 'non-iron' shirts, my decent tee shirts and sewing kit and medical supplies - imodium, paracetamol, volterol, etc. Hats and suncream and insect repellent! Have done contact list for people looking after house and early next week we pay paper bills, credit cards etc. Really nervous and excited! Cannot wait until we get there - after arriving at Split, we have a 2 1/2 hr drive. Have also asked neighbours to record Downton and a couple of other programs as our TV doesn't seem to cooperate! How are we all today? Just put guest room sheets in wash. We have friends coming to stay a couple of days after we get back and I really don't want to do major bed changing when we return. Need to dust and hoover and clean the windows. Fun! Well, best get on. See you later I hope. |

I'm fine and getting very nervous about the trip. Don't know why, just hope all goes well - and that my tendon heals! I really really don't want an operation and be immobile for 6 weeks. I was so depressed last time. . .

isnt the weather amazing, im just thinking I need to go out and water the plants in the pots........ive never had to do this so late in the year before.
The garden is fairly dry , but my sunflowers have done incredibly well....some of them are enormous and towering over everything else, and the roses after a period where nothing grew, have started to bloom again. I agree that mobility can make everything so difficult, or lack of it. When I couldn't hear properly a few months ago, I realised how easy it is to take everyday things for granted. Im sure there are ways around things, but its partly getting into the right mindset to cope with things, and making sure you have enough day to day help...... My computer is irritating me,...it keeps cutting out and not loading properly. I think it might need a good clean........but I don't want to make it any worse by doing anything drastic....I dusted and polished it the other day , and that seems to have made it worse ![]() how are you all? |

Morning all.
How are we all? Thanks for the support - I am hoping I don't need any op. Keep your fingers crossed. Does anyone watch The Last Leg? It is so funny. It started during the paralympics last year and is on Channel 4 at 10 pm. I personally think it is one of the best shows on TV and I try not to miss it. They had Boris Johnson on last night and it was truly funny - I prefer it to Mock the Week really. Try and watch it - think there are two more episodes in this series. Well, tomato glut has started and I am going to be making tomato soup today. Hope I have enough celery. Must check. Back later I hope. |

Have to agree with you about the garden. Hopefully we will be getting some rain tomorrow. I have been watering my pots but nothing else. I am going to get rid of my hanging baskets too as they look awful! Been making a concerted effort to only plant drought tolerant plants. It has worked too. I am useless with computers so can't help unfortunately. I have to clear out my emails before I go on holiday. This morning I received 7 emails - all junk! Oh well! Best get on - need to do o/h's lunch pack. |

Oh I get loads of emails, I expressed an interest in loads of online jobs search agencies, and my daughter loves using this computer to order clothes etc....so my daily emails are getting silly, maybe that is the problem?
its so hot today again.......what is the temperature? im just about to eat some of my dads, homemade tomato soup. He has always loved making things, I remember the house we lived as a child, in which had plum trees in the garden, my dad happily made plum jam for years and years, only stopping when we moved. But even after we moved we seemed to take loads of jars of jam with us....!! Unfortunately Jam is one of those things I love in small doses...my mum had to get very inventive as to how she used the plum jam.!! |

I would love the Open to be more even - e.g. no Nadal, Djokovic - some new facr to win! |

Morning all.
Well, a week tomorrow we leave. Only thing I've got to do is charge up my phone and my camera - oh, and book the taxi. Probably be spending the week washing and ironing and cleaning the house. The ankle brace broke - luckily I bought a new one last week so all is well I hope. Will be spending the weekend processing our tomatoes - soup and tomato paste! Luckily bought lots of celery and parsley yesterday. No news of John! Hope there is some little nugget of information when I get back. |

and my moan for the day....Did anyone see the front page of the Guardian today ...
![]() basically saying how the secret services from both countries have broken all the internet encryption systems so they can spy on everyone, and how therefore none of our banking systems are now foolproof. I am not happy about this at all.......ok so I sort of thought something like this was bound to happen, but if it is so ultra top secret that no one knows about it....How on earth can it be regulated in any shape or form? What is to stop some supervillain from accessing this info and using it for their own personal gain, if there are no safeguard at all???? |

Hi all
![]() Hope everyone's well ![]() Think of me tonight guys. OH is president this year of his social club, and tonight is Ladies Night. I have chosen the menu and the flowers, and bought gifts for the ladies, no problem. But the evening also involves me having my photo taken with all the members and their partners, making a speech, starting off the dancing, leading Auld Lang Syne at 11.45pm sharp etc etc ![]() Could not be less suited to me......I'd really rather spend the evening in the library, if it came to a choice . Still, got to support one's OH and all that, so onwards and upwards, off to buff up and at least try to look the part And that's some challenge, I can tell you! ![]() I just keep telling myself it'll all be over in 12 hours! ![]() Have a good weekend all

There have been 'spying' systems forever. I'm not on Facebook or Twitter, I don't buy anything but books over the internet and I won't use internet banking. I don't use ATM machines unless they are inside a bank or building society. Moral is that you have to protect yourself as much as you can using good fire walls and not open any suspect emails - nothing is 100 % secure! No personal information ever has been! |

Just relax and enjoy yourself - you may actually enjoy it. I didn't think I would enjoy the Ruby anniversary party we went to but I did!

Feel really dowdy! However I am sure your advice is good. Relaxing into it is the only way to go
