I have started Xmas shopping too and hope that I find some nice small things in Croatia. Not much room in suitcases for big things. I plan to leave insect repellent and suntan lotion - and my book when we leave. Why carry it all back when I will need new things.

Just charged up my camera and will re-read instructions. May even take them. Honestly, feel like a medicine chest!!!!

School is fine.....they are all settled and happy. Its just me still running around... I was so busy yesterday, that I got to my jewellery class an hour early !!!

Im like you nyannie, I like having a bit of time for myself to get my head together and think straight. Otherwise I tend to just be busy and not stop. Its the last stretch to get daughter organised and back to uni, , today we went clothes shopping and to smiths for pens etc The dogs have their VIP check up at the vets on Friday (Very Important Pets...annual check up) As its much easier to take them with 2 of us...

Town was pretty deserted....I bet they are looking forwards anyone doing to xmas shopping.

Once I get back into the swing of it, I am sure everything is going to be ok........

I know we love them really.......did you see that this modern idea that men and women are equal and share the housework, has been proven a myth? Hardly any men at all know how to switch on or use a washing machine and /or do ironing....

I heard this on the radio one morning...I wonder if it is true?

I'm sure it will be. Just make sure you have time for yourself - even if it is only enough for a cup of tea.

My neighbour too has started Christmas shopping.

Just recharged my camera - just hope I can remember how to use it.

My trouble is that I love a starter and a pudding, but that's not good for the old waistline, so I'm re-training myself to two starters! Main courses are often too much for me in any case! And I prefer salad to cooked veg, on the whole

I love food - all food! I usually have just a main course cause as much as I love desserts, just looking at them causes me to gain a few pounds!

I like salad but do prefer vegetables. I was brought up with carrot sticks, celery, cucumber and lots of homemade soup instead of crisps and junk food - guess that's why.

We went to a really great restaurant a couple of weeks ago and had the tasting menu of 8 courses - everything really well balanced so that you didn't feel bloated, just nicely full. I lean towards these now.

Well - best get going, need to do a wash and some ironing - last bit of pre-holiday bit!

Yes i,m going to start my xmas shopping early to.
Left it to the last minute, last year.

got all the bulk boring stuff done yesterday, but also bought some gifts, christmas glass baubles and ribbons for the xmas tree.

these case restrictions are a pain Nyannie, so little room, but i did bring a few small things back.
not long to go now, how exciting

Always takes the teacher longer to settle in, and to get things organized. My best friend is a teacher, and i won,t see her for a couple of weeks, at the start of term, while she gets her self sorted

bet it will feel slightly strange in your house, without your daughter, you sort of get use to them being back, and then lots of upheaval and they are gone again.

mine did to, but..... still not sure thats right
i mean if you eat it all, they might think , they didn't give you enough, so as long as you don,t leave most of it, i really think you're ok with leaving a little bit
but as you say a hard habit to break

if its a proper detox, your girls are being brave, not for me,
yuck, nasty green looking type drinks

I've noticed a lot of our local restaurants
now have a small portion option, on the main course menu's.

this now helps me out lindy

Well i better be getting on now,

Oh I agree, tasting menus are great Unfortunately they tend to be a bit pricey, though .....and they're not available everywhere.

Good luck with the last minute preparation, nyannie....not long now!

Now this sounds ideal for me However the idea seems barely to have reached the wilds of the midlands where I live

Most of the pubs/restaurants locally around here will give you smaller portions but they don't advertise it.

Lindy what a good idea to have 2 starters......I must remember to try that as well....

especially with birthdays and Christmas coming up...

I am impressed with these early xmas preparations, although I am still buying things for my daughter to take away with her, I will go shopping with her on the day to fill the fridge, but its the cleaning products etc that cost a fortune.....!!!

Nyannie have a wonderful holiday , we cant wait to hear all about it , when you return xxxx

These made me laugh....

How many psychiatrists does it take to change a light bulb? Only one, but the light bulb has to want to change.

Why do Marx and Engels drink herbal tea? Because proper tea is theft.

Two atoms are walking down the street. One atom says to the other: “Hey! I think I lost an electron!” The other says: “Are you sure?” “Yes, I’m positive!”

What did the Nihilist Borg Say? “Existence is Futile.”

How many people of a certain demographic does it take to perform a specified task? It takes a finite number: one person to perform the task and an additional number to act in a manner stereotypical of the group to which they belong.

Schroedinger’s cat walks into a bar. And it doesn’t.

Morning all

Hopefully I will be able to make one last post, but if not, hope all of you keep well and happy while I'm on holiday - and keep the thread going!!!!

For some strange reason I got up this morning with a thought that John may have gone to California to visit Sam Pepper - and is Sunshine there? Might be less of a journey for him. How I got this thought I have absolutely no idea!!!

Just packing to do and a last whizz with the vacuum. We had a curry last night so

My foot has been bothering me so the foot brace is now on for a while. Have decided that I may skip the walking tour in the national forests if it is too much.

Well, see you all on the 25th! Be well and happy - if I'm not able to post again before we go!
