Sort of good luck for the job interview....

When I was a child, in the 70s, my dad was very keen on the idea of a good work life balance, and thought that we should all have shorter working days and more time to spend on leisure and consumer activities...I think it must have been one of those idealistic theories of the time, and because he worked in Local government, there was a lot of discussion and effort put into providing things like leisure services etc...
This was before the days of Margaret Thatcher and Michael Portillo, and as he worked in North London, .......he did meet both of them......
The joke of this of course, was that my dad was himself a total workaholic.....
I think its such a shame at the moment that we live in such an all or nothing society....if you are lucky enough to have a job, the demands and hours expected of you, seem to be never ending.
And part time work isn't always that well paid or well respected....which seems to me to be such a shame, as it would be an ideal way for some families to balance childcare with professional and interesting work....
I only work part time, and even so find it so hard to find any/enough time just for me. By the time I've been to work and done all the housework, shopping, gardening and dog walking,.........the time just vanishes.... And I just end up stopping sometimes and thinking....is this it? Is this all my life is ever going to be?
If you have a chance to sit back and enjoy life and semi retirement ...why not relax and have some fun...?
I know the money and job satisfaction is important, but there are also other things as well......
which is what I wish my older daughter would realise...as she is so motivated by money and what it can buy her....And I wish she wasn't....
