lindy I thought you often upgraded.... don't you? I find it hard to keep up.

Interesting post, thanks In fact, I never upgrade my phone and still have an ancient Nokia. Hardly use it, we have terrible signal here anyway

What I do love are my kindle and my iPad .....I always have them handy. Am wondering now whether an iPad mini with cellular might be better than getting a new phone ....

Evening all. Gosh, I sound like George Dixon.

Big night for us in Marseille, first group match in Champions League. Trying not to bite lip, nails or anything else.

Can't watch so have live updates on laptop, it's not the same.

Hi georgy, good to see you.
Our internet is really slow at the moment for some reason (thankyou Sky), still haven't got round to moving over to BT.

Grabbed my lovely son today when he made an appearance and got him to try and iron out problems on my laptop. Bless him, I think he wishes he'd stayed away.

O/h time is being taken up with the 'outlaws', still all bloomin' arguing amongst themselves instead of addressing the really pressing issues. He is now the only one still speaking and communicating with both sides, utterly ridiculous.

I thank my lucky stars that my family may be small, but we are perfectly formed. unlike his huge rambling bunch.

Oh I love bags too. I'd rather have a bag than shoes.

I have terribly wide feet and one foot a size bigger than the other, so buying shoes is a nightmare. Also if they're not the softest leather they rub my heels and toes.

I rarely have anything on my feet, never have done. I'm dreading putting my sandals and flip flops away......now if I lived somewhere warm all year round.......

Hi again

What a lively lot we are

Your sorting out sounds great Georgy, puts me to shame. I'm finding it hard to resist email ads at the moment....you know, "hurry, last day, get 70% off, online only!" Anyway I ordered a new cardigan tonight, sounds boring but it was in a black and white ombré version of leopard print, and with a few sparkles for added interest - I couldn't resist

Arsenal did well, they look the real deal at the moment, I think Poor from Chelsea, though

Am working tomorrow so better get some sleep

Night JJAT

Sleep tight everyone

Afternoon all....

daughter safely delivered to uni, now to look forward to load no 2 on Saturday.

I hadn't imagined using a phone as a camera, until I saw a review on TV, which was talking about the brilliant camera specs on phones now.

I also had a really ancient Samsung, so ancient it was out of contract by a few years... But I have enjoyed having the kindle for books and for maps and games....so in a way the new phone is going to combine all of these....

bad luck with your outlaws......sometimes families can be so frustrating.....

I sympathise about having wide feet, mine are as well . And I love being able to go around barefoot or in flip flops.... The number of times Ive wasted money trying on a pair of shoes in the shop. and buying them, only to find they are really uncomfortable when I get them home.

My lifesaver is currently Evans......the wide shoes aren't perfect, but at least they try and look slightly fashionable, unlike some of the horrible things I see in specialist catalogues..

Ooooh, I never thought of this ( my feet are wide too....do I sense a trend here? ) Might have a look and see what they've got

Evening all by the way hope everyone's well.

I'm looking forward to watching the second episode of 'Peaky Blinders' on BBC2 tonight

Night owl here, I have a cold which came out today so I'm at the miserable stage......if I sit up my nose runs and if I lie down I can't breathe.

So here I am in my pj's with a large mug of tea, catching up. Just realised I didn't use decaf so now I will be wide awake.

We won in Marseille (yippee) and top of our group. Napoli next up, at home.

Crikey, have we all got wide feet?
All the girls in our family have dainty little feet. My mum and her mum only took 2.5 and mum's sisters and my sister take a 3. I on the other hand have great big plates by comparison....size 6!

I haven't looked in Evans (our store is tiny and not very good), I use Shoe Tailor and I found a lovely pair of black ankle boots in the softest leather with a little heel in Pavers last year.

Hi augusta, nearly an empty nest again.

My son has a Samsung Galaxy S3 which he uses all the time for pictures and videos. Results always look good to me, but I'm not an expert.
I'm still in the dark ages, no smart phone for me. Just my trusty little Nokia. As long as it texts and can make a call it's good enough for me.

Quick look at the front pages of the papers and then I shall attempt a few hours under my cosy duvet.

Just collect together essential kit: Olbas Oil, Balsam tissues and balm (to stop my nose looking like Rudolph's), glass of chilled water......ready to go catch some zzz's.

Goodnight all.

Hi lena,
my internet is quick, when on with B.T
its just that water seems to get into the box down the road
when we have a heavy storm, then this cutting out happens
but never mind, on now

what a great result for Arsenal, you must be very pleased

sorry about the outlaws trouble
your poor husband, being caught in the middle
never the best place to be. Hope they sort it out soon.

i have a half size difference in shoe size, ones a 4 and the other a 41/2 , but a whole one size difference must be a real pain, in the **** love flipflops and sandals to, so easy to wear, and comfy, in the winter i live in good pair of leather boots, one foot with a very thick sock on and one in a thin

Afternoon all.....

hope all the coughs and colds get better.....

Isnt life frustrating at times.....we have been waiting years to have enough money to be able to go away at Christmas, and after a long term savings thing matured in the summer, we almost have enough money to go........ my OH was really looking forwards to going....and having a totally different skiing holiday. But now my daughter has reminded us that as she is in her third year, she has final exams in January and an extended project is due in. And this really isn't the year for her to be away at xmas....

As I don't want to be away from my girls at Xmas, we are going to have to postpone this holiday, yet again....... very very sad about this.........

Oh, how annoying !! Still, it's great that you can be together at Christmas, I guess that's one way to look at it. It's so disappointing, though, when you've planned and looked forward to something, not to be able to do it. Next year, maybe? xx

morning everyone....hope you are all having a lovely weekend.

Daughter is sort of safely installed in her new student shared house....but it is still a bit chaotic........best to let her just get on with it now, though..

I ve got a lazy sort of day today as well........a bit of paperwork to get through and the usual weekend highlights of ironing etc......

Good afternoon JJAT

Sounds as though some relaxing days are planned. Hope you enjoy the roast pork and cake-making, Georgy, and get a rest from organising your daughters, Augusta.

One of my girls is on a diet and tried on a new outfit before she went shopping today. Frankly it did her no favours at all......so when she asked me how did she look, well, I gave an honest answer Possibly a big mistake......you can guess the rest. . All borne out of anxiety on her part, I know, but still.....I can only say I hope she has a good day

As for me, tidying and a bit of cleaning are on the agenda. Mustn't mention the diet etc - OH doesn't want to hear any more about it!

Ah well, onwards and upwards And I'm not mentioning the football either!

Roast went well
cake a little flat
icing good, coffee and brandy yum

sorry about daughter, but honest is always good.

next time she asks or when she is trying something new on, she should try, taking a phone photo, it gives you a better idea of how something really looks. It might also help you out of these tricky situations

and i hope your weekend, got better as it went along

Afternoon all

Thanks for the ideas Georgy - a phone pic is a great idea. We got over it, anyway, by the end of the day Important not to go to bed with ill-feeling, if at all possible

I miss nyannie too. I think she's back tomorrow, so maybe on here about Wednesday sometime? x

Good afternoon, feeling much better today.
Think the sunshine is helping, after two days of mizzle and low oppressive skies.
Actually very warm today.

O/h has been home since Friday, ten days of DIY on the agenda!!!

By the way augusta, if you want my advice, keep your o/h well away from refitting the kitchen - I'm still waiting for the kickboards under the cabinets to be fitted, under cupboard lighting and new flooring....not to mention the half tiled walls!!
