Good morning, all well here too.
Bit windswept, although today is bright and sunny and amazingly calm.

Very fortunate as just a few miles up the road they are still without power.

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas and didn't eat as much as I did.
At least we walked a bit of it off along the seafront on Boxing Day. It was beautiful in the sunshine, very busy with lots of others doing the same thing.
We also noticed an amazing amount of sand that normally isn't there and a lack of boulders which should have been. That was some storm!

Have a wonderful time skiing Augusta, mind you don't go 'off-piste'.
Is that the equivalent of the 'eighteenth hole'?

Thanks ellemay for passing on John's Christmas greetings. Nice to know he still remembers us.

Morning all!

So glad to see many of our old friends pop in for Christmas. Loved your dog nathalie!

In case I forget, everyone have a happy, healthy 2014!

So pleased you are safe and sound georgy. We used to live right on the River Wey so very pleased we aren't there now! Hope no one else suffers from the awful storms.

Our ceilings have stopped leaking but the buckets will be put under them as soon as the rain starts. O/H doesn't want to get a roofer in until he talks to a friend who worked with his builder father over 40 years ago! Honestly, I am the one who has to look at the ceilings and leaks all day!

We had a lovely Christmas break and now I am washing and ironing. An American film star arrived just as we were leaving - she was having her birthday there. Wish I could have a party there. Dream on I guess!!!

Well, best go - we are going to the supermarket shortly.

Have a good day.

Morning all

Glad to see nyannie, Lena and Georgy are back Wonder whether Augusta is ski-ing yet? Hope everyone's well, anyway...

The festivities go on Am going to a lunch party today, for a good friend's 70th, then dragging myself to M & S to pick up my food order and get general shopping for our new year party tomorrow. Frankly I'm exhausted! Anyway, onwards and upwards.

Happy New Year to everyone (regular and occasional posters, and even lurkers if we have any) - just in case I don't get back here in the next couple of days.

Love, Lindy xx

Morning all
It really is quiet here. Augusta must be skiing by now. Hope she is enjoying it.

Hope georgy doesn't have any more flooding.

I am going to be calling roofers and insurance people today - what a way to spend the end of the year.

Before I forget

A HAPPY, HEALTHY AND PROSPEROUS 2014 TO EVERYONE

Happy New Year - again! Good to see you bblover. Hope you and yours have a very happy, healthy and peaceful 2014.

What parties? My o/h was asleep at 11 pm and I watched THE GODFATHER for the umpteenth time.

Having said that, we are going for drinks later and drinks on Saturday. Not bad. I always find New Year very depressing for some reason.

Happy New Year everyone!

Wishing everyone all the best for 2014

Am sitting here by the fire with my cat and am trying to absorb the events of the last couple of weeks......We have had a lovely Xmas and new year and I am now completely exhausted Tomorrow will, I hope, be a day for getting organised, eg my laptop is in desperate need of some maintenance, and need to catch up on washing sheets and towels etc after our visitors.

On NYE we had friends round for a meal, played games like Tension! and competitive shape-making with play-doh (which was much funnier than it sounds!) and ended up singing carols at 2am .....I like to think the JJAT would have been proud of us Oh, and we did down a quantity of the bubbly stuff.......

Got to go now, but very best wishes again for 2014 to everyone

Goodnight all, sleep tight

Lindy xx

Morning all

Thanks for the message ellemay!

Going into our local town today to exchange a present - then will see if the sales are any good.

Glad to hear you only have puddles georgy. Our roof investigation starts next week. Hope they can fix it then. Did I tell you that we saw where my o/h lived on TV last week? Completely flooded. So glad we aren't there anymore.

Also pleased to hear that everyone has survived NYE. We went round to our friends yesterday for drinks and then came home to watch Harry Potter. Great fun. Saturday more drinks.

Usually we have nothing to do in January.

By the way, don't forget the thread meet on the 11 January. If anyone needs time and directions, let me know by PM.

Happy New Year again!

Hope augusta is having a good time skiing.

Good morning all. I'm so glad to see that you all got through our wonderful Christmas and New Year storms. I was busy travelling home down the M5 as the winds were trying to launch me in to the lakes that use to be fields. I would have been scared of all the lorries weaving about, but I couldn't really see them through the spray!

Wasn't it good to get tweets from John - he's not wiped us from his memory after all! Wonder if he's still working in the surf place?

Wish I could join you on your get-together. It would be lovely to put faces to the names on here. But I have yet another bunch of visitors arriving next week - friends from Canada this time. Sometimes I think I'm running some kind of international hostel!

Any way - I'm sure you'll all have a great time

Hi guys

It's unusually quiet on here! Glad everyone is okay....hope your flooding / roof problems are sorted soon, nyannie and Georgy. And once again it seems that Lena may be in the firing line of the coastal storms. Take care! x

Sorry you can't make it to our meeting next week Giddykipper, I would love to meet you. Then again, if this weather keeps up, we may have to put it back a couple of weeks.....hope not

Am beginning to settle down into the new year -eg called in unexpectedly on mum and found her standing holding her mini- oven door shut as it had gone kaput! Have ordered a new one......

Really tired so guess I'll be off.

Sleep tight everyone and stay safe

Very quiet Lindy - maybe they are all glued to the CBB launch - or maybe not....

Wish I could meet you too - maybe next time But I'm sure that you'll all have an amazing time - and there's plenty of time for the weather to improve by next weekend - although maybe you won't be eating alfresco!
Sleep well everybody

Morning all.

Just about to settle in to Saturday Kitchen.

Hope we can meet you soon too Giddy. Sales are still on but I wasn't impressed by the ones locally.

Won't be bothering with CBB - rubbish line-up - so will stick to the forums I think. I have made a resolution to be more productive and limit the time for TV etc. I know this sounds daft but I have been keeping a list of books read in 2013 and I managed 30. Want to do better this year. When I was younger I used to manage at least an hour a day to read a book after the paper.

Wonder if John does any reading now that he is older?

Morning nyannie Morning all

Know what you mean about being productive.....I can spend hours pottering around the house, or making plans and lists that I then have no time to carry out .......and I can also spend hours trawling around the Internet reading this and that Not useful at all, nor even very pleasurable, often. So, I agree, I am also going to try and achieve more in 2014

By the way, I reckon 30 books a year isn't bad going, though........

Have a good day all

I don,t mean to go missing

a bit like my friends car
her daughter parked it, a little bit...... to near the Thames
not thinking about the high tide
she went of rowing
and can back to a underwater car

hope everyone is ok
especially Lena
shall read back now
and see how everyone is doing
