Good evening and a belated Happy New Year to all my lovely friends on JJat.
Pleased to read that everyone is safe and well, weather is certainly unpredictable at the moment. Good to hear you had a good holiday augusta and relieved you got back safely without the need for plaster of paris. ![]() The start to my new year could have been better. Friday saw me on a twenty two mile, fifty minute trip across the flooded Marsh Road (it's not called that for nothing)in appalling weather in the back of an ambulance to what is now our local A&E. ![]() I won't bore you with the details but after four hours in A&E I was transferred to the basement where after another hour I was prodded and poked in a girl's important little places before having a procedure without anaesthetic and finally sent back out in the wind and the rain at twelve forty five am with not an ounce of dignity left. ![]() ![]() We got home just before two am and o/h is nine pounds and sixty pence lighter in the pocket after paying parking fees!!! ![]() I have a scan booked for Monday morning, so I'm hoping for better weather. I must say though that the nurses and doctors were wonderful. ![]() Have been taking it easy as instructed by everyone. ![]() Need to read back to catch up properly with all the news. GET WELL SOON LENA! Do not tackle housework, ironing or anything more than boiling a kettle. That is an order!!!! Take care of yourself. Lots of love from mexxxx |

Went to the Chinese exhibition at the V&A
No fast trains from Oxford but there are slow ones - think you need to go to Didcot Lindy to be sure. There are so many flooded fields around here. Even some bridges have been closed and the ford at the end of my road is flooded very close to the main road. Friends of ours in the village have their house sandbagged. They never had problems until the local council in their wisdom decided to allow houses to be built on a flood plain! Had some awful news about a dear friend yesterday so best close. |

morning all.....hope you get yourself all sorted out Lena and that you feel better..
what miserable weather we are all having? Has anyone else seen anything of CBB? its an interesting mix of people this year, and I have heard of most of them. Unlike some years. These poor celebrities, so short of money they have to resort to an appearance on CBB. |

I'm still planning to come to our meet up, though, all things being equal. I think the best plan will be to get a coach to Victoria. That should be okay, but all options remain open! ![]() Will be in touch again soon. Lindy xx |

Lindy xx Hope you make it Lindy - My trains are running about 15 minutes late and they are very slow - they stop everywhere - I am just hoping they run on Saturday. Evidently they have been evacuating people from a couple of the villages on the river. Traffic is terrible!!!! I think the Oxford Tube goes along to Marble Arch - which may be better for you. Hopefully we will see you on Saturday. |

We went out tonight to a formal dinner locally that we really had to attend....the taxi that normally costs about £10 cost £25 each way, due to diversions!! The local council and the environment agency have been doing a fine job putting up flood barriers and pumping out water, but there's only so much they can do ,We aren't flooded ourselves but we know lots of people who are.....Anyone got any ideas about a new date to meet? Hopefully not too long away......we need to see each other! ![]() Lindy xx |

Please PM me with suggested new dates. Personally I cannot do a Saturday until early March.
People are being evacuated from riverside properties here and trains are now running once an hour with very slow speed. I have had some devastating news about a very old, dear friend so will cut this short. |

Good evening!
Re our meeting, I'm wondering whether people can now do weekdays? Personally I could possibly make some Mondays, Wednesdays or Thursdays. Just wondering whether this may help to arrange a date ![]() Will PM you, nyannie, with suggestions. Once again I am so sorry to hear about your friend and am hoping that the situation may be improving. Chin up Lindy xx |

I could probably make a mid week date at the moment....so lets try and arrange that.
My phone said it needed an update...and I merrily plugged it into the computer...now I think I might have lost all of the stored date like phone numbers etc on there......its too clever for its own good at times. And I need to learn to read the instructions a bit more carefully....

Morning all.
Flooding is still happening around here. Hope it stops soon as I am due to go to London on Wed and stay the night. My friend is still very poorly - no more news so I suppose the old adage no news is good news holds true. Saw Sherlock last night - terrific - wish they would make more of them. Would people please PM me about a new date to meet. Weekdays are easier for me personally. Let me know by the first week in February - everyone is welcome! |

what a relief...the photos are now uploaded onto the computer and my phone is fine.......
I can at the moment potentially fit around most dates.......a Wednesday would be fine. Its such a miserable month, I could do with something exciting to look forwards to. So who else saw Sherlock last night? wasn't it brilliant? |

Hi nyannie
Hi all ![]() Have sent you a PM nyannie about dates but please do go with what other people can do as well.....I will try to juggle things if needs be. Pouring with rain and freezing cold here Still, at least the London trains are running again and most roads are open. Apparently 100 people have come down from Manchester to help our poor flood-hit citizens! ![]() In haste. Keep warm everyone. Lindy xx |

Morning all
Very sad today. Was supposed to meet a friend for coffee and 10 minutes before she was due, got a call that she had been found dead in her flat - is it me? What a rotten start to 2014. Hope John is having a better one. |

Just had my hair done....and had it professionally coloured for the first time ever....I like the way it looks, but it was so expensive... Is it worth it?????? It was fun sitting in the salon though, reading all the magazines..full of self help ideas.......very inspiring... |

Having your hair done professionally is worth every penny because: You don't have to use and dirty your towels You don't have to clean up You don't have to get your bath/shower dirty You actually have time for YOURSELF. Someone makes you a coffee/tea and you don't have to wash the cup. You can read all the magazines you would never buy - Hello, OK, Heat etc. You get treated with courtesy and respect (yes, I know you have to tip, but it is nice to be helped on with your coat). You can catch up with all the local news. Yes, it is worth getting your hair done professionally! |

Yes, professional hair colour is definitely worth it in my view .....in fact I've heard it said that it's the single most effective beauty treatment a woman can have. That might be a bit of an exaggeration, but still.....
![]() Am a bit hampered today as my iPad has stopped connecting to WiFi Have tried every which way to fix it, but to no avail Will have to get on to Apple tomorrow. Meanwhile please forgive short posts...laptop just not the same!! Sleep tight all Lindy xx |

well I woke up this morning, still liking the colour, but not the cut of my hair.......But thank you for all your positive messages about why its a good idea to get a professional haircut.....
it is incredible what a difference a good hair cut can make. Georgy I don't envy you your task clearing everything out....it must be very time consuming...I suppose if you had all the time in the world, you might find some interesting bits and bobs, mixed in with everything else. I am a terrible hoarder, and have kept so many things for sentimental reasons, years ago, I did things like keep the corks from bottles of champagne we opened to celebrate the birth of my daughters etc.....now I have various corks in various cardboard boxes and no idea which ones are which!!! (originally I put them in a box with photos, etc but now the boxes are all mixed together ) So really I could do with just chucking them out. |

I just noticed that Kristen Stewart is due to be making a film, that is advertised as a remake of 1984, but only focussing on the love story!!!
I am unsure about how I feel about this! Initially I thought it was a stupid idea, missing out the main message and point of the book....but now im not sure. Maybe it is a way of bringing the power of the story to a new audience by updating it for a new audience??? Because in a way the main part of the story for Winston in 1984 is a distorted and unhappy love affair, although this isn't the main thing that I have ever taken from it...!! |
