Hi Augusta

I'm not good at booking lots of things either .....but I also have got tickets for Kng Lear It's on at the National.....we're hoping to go in early March.....that is if road rail connections allow by then!

Am meant to be meeting our daughter in London this coming Tuesday to see the Klee exhibition at the Tate but between floods and the tube strike, I'm not 100% sure I'll make it

There is supposed to be another tube strike on Tuesday Lindy. If I were you I would cancel after my experience last week. Taxis will cost you double what you normally pay - if you can find one.

The soldiers from the TA were sandbagging bits of Reading and now parts of Henley are flooded too. I am so glad we are on elevated ground and not on a flood plain. Think I will stay close to home this week.

Wonder if John's part of Australia ever gets flooded?

Hi everyone, hope you're all well and keeping your feet dry.
The flooding is getting worse and spreading countrywide.
The blame game has begun and I'm saddened to see that now people hit by the flooding are being targeted by sightseers abusing them and scouring wreckage for souveniers!
What possesses people?

Congratulations to Lindy and Georgy on Liverpool's impressive win at the weekend. This was the match I was worried about, Liverpool are deadly at home. I'm just hoping we don't sleepwalk our way through the rest of our fixtures this month.

this is absolutely terrible,

I heard this kind of blame attitude on the radio and had to turn off. I don't care who or what is to blame...at the end of the day its the fault of the rain and the unseasonal weather ...which to me sounds like an act of god or nature...so why go round trying to find someone to blame.?

What is scaring me...is that there seems to be so much more abysmal weather to come..so its not even as if we can breathe a collective sigh of relief and start to sort out the damage. We still have to wait and see homes etc destroyed and be almost powerless to prevent or stop it....

I think Australia is suffering from too much sun isn't it? I wish we could do a bit of a swap, they can have some of our rain, and we can have some of their sun ..

before I came on here I booked tickets, for the Globe theatre...and guess what....I booked King Lear as well !!! it was on at the right time and a weekend performance..So we can all be shakespearian experts at the end of it all....

now I need to book a decent ballet for me and my daughters to go and see....!!!

Thanks for the advice nyannie I am sure you are right but I really don't want to let my daughter down So, at present I am planning to go to Victoria by coach and to set off back as early as I can manage!

Have you seen the pictures of the Thames flooding from Berkshire and Surrey?!?

Awful scenes.......I hope Georgy is okay. Not sure exactly where she lives.....come in Georgy, if you can!

Oh, I agree, I can't stand the blame game! Fair enough to let off steam if you're standing in your flooded home (who could be rational then? ) but not for people in politics to be blaming each other! After all, basically this is a natural disaster. If water is diverted from one place, it turns up again a few miles downstream. Even Canute couldn't hold back the waves.......

And yes, it's worrying.....especially that a lot of the flooding is due not only to rivers bursting their banks, but simply to the water table overflowing and water just coming up thought the ground!

Stay safe everyone!

Morning all.

Well, more flooding and more places have been 'closed'!!! Feel marrooned as we can only go East and a bit West, not North or South at the moment. A friend and I were supposed to be going to Oxford on Thursday - have cancelled as now it appears trains aren't going through to Oxford and don't want to use the replacement bus service - leave it for the people who need to go to work is my thought.

Think I am going to stick close to home for the time being. Supposed to go into London next week but won't go if trains aren't running on time. We have no coach service into London and I really hate trains that are full and slow.

Anyway, O/H has decided to take this morning off - not convenient as I was going to clean upstairs. Oh well, will have to work around him. At least he is safe.

Well, best get going. Have loads to do.

Keep safe and see you all later.

Georgy, hope you are safe! We used to live in Surrey and I cannot believe all the flooding we are seeing.

I don't like the blame game either, but do think there should be a ban on building on flood plains. We didn't have much flooding until most of the flood plains were built on around here. Time to stop!

Keep safe georgy and everyone.

Well, having reviewed the travel situation, I've decided not to go up to London to see the Klee exhibition with my daughter At least I gave her the tickets last week, so she can go if she wants. That's not the point though, I think we both wanted a bit of a girly chat!

I woke up with conjunctivitis this morning as well and the GP has just prescribed antibiotic drops - over the phone - most unusual, they must be busy

So it's off to the surgery to collect the drops, then I think I may go back to bed - again.

Hope everyone's okay ....especially Georgy x

I,m ok, been very busy
because we have had to move my sister out of Egham
she lives in a second floor flat, so her place is ok
but she can't get in and out now
She gone to mums as their place is fine for the moment, but not sure how long
thats going to last if this rain continues.

They could all be moving in with me

so sorry didn't mean to worry you, just been rushed of my feet and really tired
don,t seem to be shifting this bug either
going to read back
hope all are well and safe

Oh thats a shame, you were so looking forward to spending that
quality time with your daughter.

on the bright side i did hear that they had called off the tube strike
there is enough disruption at the moment
with out them making it worse.

hope your eyes get better soon, it just so hard to get rid of conjunctivitis
so easy to spread through the family

p.s What a win for Liverpool, 20 mins of a unstoppable strike force

Its really bad Nyannie, we are ok, just got some local roads closed,
never seen it like this

this building on flood plains is rather silly
i've seen new building in local areas that flood every winter
with normal rainfall, i supposed its down to shortage of land

and the worrying thing is, the rain doesn't seem to be stopping anytime soon
another big storm is on its way

hope you're well xxx

Glad you are okay Georgy

Your poor sister though And it sounds as though your mum doesn't feel too confident where she is, either! At least your place is there if needs be You must be exhausted though, helping someone move in such circumstances can't be easy.

Take care and don't worry about us, we just like to know you are okay

You're right, I was very disappointed Still, I can't complain in the current circumstances.....and we did see her briefly at the weekend.......it's just that we'd love a heart to heart......I do miss her so much really, though I try not to...... we never get any time just the two of us, these days. All in good time, I guess

Anyway I'll wish you all goodnight

Stay safe and look after yourselves

Just glad to hear you are safe and sound. Hope your sister and mother are OK and they don't have to vacate the house.

Hope you get some rest. Unless you get rest you won't get rid of your bug if it is a virus. I had two lots of antibiotics and I was told I wouldn't get rid of my bug unless I got rest. I now take Metatone twice a day. Hopefully it will help - and I am pacing myself more.

The houses are all flooded where my husband used to live so I am very grateful that we live here on a little hillock. We helped a friend yesterday move most of his furniture and food upstairs. The water is lapping at his house step.

So sorry you had to cancel Lindy, but I know how you feel.

However, unless you put yourself once for a change and get some rest, you will never get better.

We used to call conjunctivitis pink eye and we couldn't go to school if we had it because it was contagious. Both my sisters got it but I never did. Evidently you are more prone to it if you are run down. So Dr nyannie prescribes bed rest or rest at least.

Take care of yourself

Morning all

We are like a long island now. Can't go north or south because of the flooding. Bridges are closed. Evidently train signals are mostly underwater and trains which take an hour to get into London now take almost 2. Called the train company and they don't know when it will be back to normal. Our lawn is full of moss and one job I don't need to do now is to put water out for the birds.

It is a week since my darling friend died and I must write a letter to her family. I just can't get started. I also just learned that the mother of another friend died on Friday. She was a wonderful woman. We used to correspond and talk on the phone at least once a week. She was very important in helping me adjust to life in the UK. Another void in my heart.

Just wish the sun would shine for more than an hour - and I love the rain usually!

By the way, ark building has commenced!

She ok, being very spoilt by mum at the moment,
she even got a hot chocolate to take to bed

can you tell i,m a little jealous

as i say we are pretty sure her place will be ok, its just the issue of getting cut off, as so many roads in the area are closed. So we moved her out, and just took the important things.
More to be on the safe side
Which is the same with mum really, as she is surrounded by the river mole, but all good so far at her end.

Good Morning JJat
So more rain is on the way, at least i don,t have to worry about my son traveling today, he
has now gone down with this family lurgy

keeps safe everyone

Its that special bond, mums and daughter,

my sister is having a whale of a time, moving back with mum, washing and meals done
she has described it, as staying at a very nice hotel

hope you get to spend some quality time together soon, perhaps a girls weekend away,
when this weather improves

You're so right Nyannie,
i think this has been half the problem, rushed back to things far to quickly,
going to take myself of to bed, as i know everyone is home and safe

hope your friend is ok, so much flooding everywhere, its so sad
to see so many people in trouble, and that they have nowhere to go.

Good morning everyone, pleased to hear you're all safe and sound.
Georgy, you'll be opening a hotel soon good to know you're safe and sound.

I'm watching Sky news as I type and it's looking worse than ever. Newquay is being battered at the moment and now they're saying the floods in Worcester could reach twenty feet high tomorrow!!

The sun is making a very brief appearance at the moment which is just as well as I'm heading out shortly to the dentist, I don't want to be sitting in the chair doing my impression of a drowned rat.

The wind is picking up and they're promising rain around midday, hoping I'll get back before it starts.

Keep safe everyone, I'll check back later to see how we're all doing.
Have a good day.
