Gosh it was a wild night, wasn't it? Felt like the wind was blowing through my brain......... Plenty of space there, anyway!

wow what a windy night........I hope everyone is keeping ok. I hope they are right and this is the last of the dreadful weather for a while. But there is going to be so much to clear up afterwards...and its odd weather apparently all over the world . The USA looks freezing.

We had a lovely valentines meal here as well, plaice filets, which I love. then watched the film RUSH again. one of my OH favourite films from last year. We are going to go out for lunch tomorrow.

I want to meet up and do things as well, but this weather is making things so tricky....I don't want to travel too far and be unable to get back.

Just in from the garden, I was starting the weeding and general clear up of the garden! but it started to rain....hopefully next week I can really get to grips with all the garden tidying up.

Its the Voice tonight isn't it? What stage are we up to? have they finished picking their teams already?

More floods, more heavy rain and winds - house was shaking!!! More power cuts too

Replacement bus service on both train lines so won't be going into London any time soon.

Roof leaking again! Fed up!

I'm like you augusta, don't want to get stuck anywhere so sticking pretty close to home.

Think I would actually prefer snow at this point! Ground is saturated and we have mini fountains along some parts of the road

Drought in California, excessive heat in Australia and now sinkholes in the UK - very very worrying!

Keep safe everyone.

At last a bit of sun.........a chance to tidy up the garden a bit, there are some crocus coming and the shoots of daffodils and tulips are appearing.

Thank goodness its such a lovely day.

But the reports on the news about the storm and flood damage are pretty worrying. Although I spose its good news if you are a plasterer or painter and decorator...who are going to be needed pretty much instantly when everything dries out properly!!

keep safe everyone...

From our local paper:

"And the majority of FGW trains in the Thames Valley and Cotswolds will run as timetabled tomorrow but there may be short-notice cancellations and delays, due to reduced capacity and speed restrictions through the section of track affected."

How great does that sound? Okay, some reduced capacity etc, but if most trains run as timetabled, that will be a huge blessing

It is lovely, isn't it? While we were out today we saw daffodils, cyclamen and even lily of the valley starting to shoot. You could feel the positivity in their as people were running, cycling, riding in the sunshine. It was a sight for sore eyes as I drove past......

Hi folks - it's so good to catch up with you - I've been out of commission enjoying the hospitality of our NHS - but I've now had my op and am definitely on the mend

I've come to the conclusion that hospital is no place to be when you feel dreadful - for a start, you never seem to get much sleep as there are staff scuttling around all night and even worse, there are cruising vampires who keep coming around and stabbing you in the arm whenever they need a snack...

Hope everyone has managed to survive our storms relatively unscathed. Have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised to find my garden fence still there when I finally got home. Er - looks a bit wobbly though!

Just going to read back a few pages to see what you've all been up to

Think you should check FGW website. Last time I looked (this afternoon) there was a replacement bus timetable to get to Maidenhead - and they were only running 3 to 4 trains an hour - but longer trains!

So good to see you. Hope you are much better now. We have missed you!

I know what you mean about getting sleep in hospital. Only way I guess is to have a private room.

Hope you are 100% now and you don't have the leaks we do.

Back to watching the ice dancing. . .

I love watching the ice dancing...its so graceful somehow...

giddykipper i hope you are feeling a lot better now. At least you are home and able to recuperate there.

As regards the trains and transport.....Its odd how little information there is around. I often wonder if its almost deliberate, if they only provide limited information, then it reduces the opportunity to complain. Ive had so many issues over the years with the weekend repairs on the lines out of Liverpool street. They publish the info once...of which weekends will be affected, and then it is your responsibility to check. They are quite happy to sell tickets online, without telling you of the bus replacement service, and then if you ask why they didn't tell you, they point you in the direction of a tatty poster on the platform and say it was published in advance!! Months ago.

I love the idea of public transport......and think it should be much better environmentally, but its so inconvenient compared to my car!!

Morning all.

Hope we are all well with no more flooding. Next door took the train to London (had an important meeting) - took her 3 1/2 hours to get to London and she was in such despair coming home that she took the tube to Heathrow and then the RailAir Bus and then her husband picked her up. She spent almost 7 hours travelling for a 1 hr meeting! Don't think I will be going in until trains are back to normal - well, normalish anyway!

I know what you mean about public transport. If my o/h took a bus to work it would take 1 1/2 hr and change bus twice and walk half a mile (he did it once). If he drives, it takes 20 minutes! Outside of a big city, public transport isn't great for the most part.

Anyway, hope everyone keeps safe and sound - don't mean to sound like the voice of doom but wish we'd see the sun out a bit more.

So today was going to be a gardening day...but the garden is soaking wet......so I need to leave it to dry a bit.

I have a nasty splinter/thorn in my finger and its driving me mad, its just under the knuckle on my right hand, and I cant seem to find a way to get it out....and keep worrying at it, and its getting redder and redder, Any suggestions as to how to remove it, would be gratefully received..

I was watching Mr and Mrs Smith again last night. isn't it strange how opinions can change. When I first saw the film I loved it, but wasn't at all happy about Brad Pitt leaving Jennifer Anniston for Angelina, which kind of tinged how I saw the film slightly.

Now many years later, Brangelina seem so happy together, how many kids do they have now.....whilst Jennifer Aniston is still happily childless. Isnt it strange how things work out.?

buzz in my ear for the last two days, but its only the hedge clippers going

Got tickets for the rugby at the weekend really looking forward to it

I,m not sure about the splinter
but have you tried soaking you hand in water
and let the skin go soft around the wound, might be easier to get out with a pin or
tweezers then

Guess I'm not going to London anytime soon! Went to the osteopath this morning and saw 10 buses lined up outside the station. I am getting stir crazy.

A friend in Essex had flooding in her garden. She lives on a hill but her garden was FLOODED!!!! It was the ground water! Cannot believe it.

Hello everyone, good to see we've all survived the stormy weather, let's hope the worst is over.

Good to see you Giddykipper, wishing you a speedy recovery after your holiday on the nhs. Nothing like being back home and being able to sleep without somebody waking you up to see if you want something to help you sleep. Why do they do that?

Thanks georgy, I think we were a bit lucky if I'm honest. If Suarez hadn't over egged the pudding so to speak, by dramatically rolling around at the drop of a hat (nothing annoys me more, pet hate no matter who it is) I think you'd have been given the second penalty.

Another huge game tomorrow night, feeling nervous all ready.

Have to confess I'm trying out my new toy, I treated myself to the new Kindle Fire. I have no willpower.

I can't tell you how long it's taking me to type this although it does have this clever little dictionary thing where it gives you words to choose so you don't have to type the whole word.

At least it's cheering me up as I'm feeling really rough, I have the lurgy in the form of a throat infection. Voice has totally gone now and now my ears are sore and eyes are watery.

Off to serve jacket potatoes now, one of my comfort foods.

Catch you all tomorrow. Have a good evening.

Morning all

O/H has had to get up early so guess (no prizes) who has had to get up to get him up?

How is your finger augusta?

Just had an email from friends in Australia - they have such hot weather (40 degrees) that they don't go outside at all - except to go shopping. Too hot even for them to go to the beach. Drought in California, rain here - really screwy weather. Wonder how John copes in all of this, but then he is still a youngster. . .

My social life is really buzzing - two funerals in 3 days and in different parts of the country. What a bleak outlook!

Anyway, must say cheerio to o/h - more later.

And you're having some luck tonight
well not your goalie being sent off
but the two missed penalties, hope you hold on
