I agree it does seem that way a bit which is why I got so mad at Robin in props week for saying Beth's routine was predictable when IMO it's Matt's routines that are more predictable as they mostly have some kind of breakdancing in them and no doubt his showcase number will too. wouldn't actually be surprised if he can find a way to get it in Bolero too.

Like you say he was pulled up on this at the beginning and now its like that never happened and its suddenly ok for him to do the same thing over and over yet if the others do that the judges mark them down and tear into them for it.

I think the change in routine showed up his weaknesses hence why he ended up in the skate off that week and now everything is done as smoke and mirrors to hide the messy skating etc and focus on the fact that he is apparently an amazing performer which sorry Matt fans I just don't get I find his performing very forced and honestly not seeing what the judges are rating so highly.

I think Beth has been very much underchallenged in terms of what she could do as we have seen she is really good at the lyrical stuff where she can still showcase her flexibilty but is able to skate and perform as well. Beth seems IMO to be a quieter personality and that style suits her yet it seems someone (not sure if production or T&D) has decided to keep forcing her out of her comfort zone where she has had fast music with lots of tricks (yes she is more than capable of them we know) and not so much chance to concentrate on other things but she has not had the chance to have much of a change of pace to show she can really do different things whereas Matt has been pandered to and it has led to him being showcased well and Beth not so much.

he says he's trying to bring new things to the show that people haven't seen before and a different style to the ice that people have never seen before

He's done nothing new at all ... many others have done all the hip hop breakdancing stuff before ... and better ie Chris Fountain

In fact Matt's done far less than any of the previous top males ie no proper spins/jumps

he even seems to think it's a big deal him doing the headbanger in the final, when that's already been done by a couple of male celebs

I appreciate that he's enthusiastuc but he does seem to have an air of wanting to be seen that he's doing stuff that's "never been done before" "the first to do" and he likes to tell people that, like he want's to be seen as better than the rest .. it just comes across as braggy to me

One of his early mag interviews started to make me think cocky so and so was firstly the stuff like that I'm going to do stuff no ones ever seen well IMO we're still waiting. I think others have done much more innovative stuff over the years and well Kyran was the orginal DOI body popper. Also though in the same article it was talking about him and Shayne and it was a case of Shayne's good but he will finish second to me. Ok so technically true I'll admit but thought given the show hadn't even started what an up yourself attitude to have and he seemed to barely rate Beth who IMO is a better skater than him and given half a chance a better performer too.

On a slight aside thought there seemed a lot of tension this morning in the Daybreak interview with the finalists. It certainly didn't seem as relaxed as in previous years interviews and the only ones who seemed genuinely happy to be there IMO was Dan and Beth yet it seemed the others were making them a bit edgy. Probably nothing but I don't know just something that I can't quite put my finger on.

Body Popping in the Bolero.....NO just NO.

In all honesty though Brianne has to take most of the blame for that - she really should know better.

It's almost like the spoilt child getting his own way again. All he wants to do is body popping, breakdancing, hip hop. Totally wrong in Bolero IMO.

Brianne having been in 2 finals already should know better but then she seems to be very much of the same attitude as Matt these days (the I know best attitude and I want to do my own thing) maybe they will get together in the end they seem very well matched

I'm just hoping if Beth gets through to the last 2 (keeps everything possible crossed) that Dan has choreographed something truly emotive an lyrical that captures the spirit of Bolero and showcases Beth and hopefully capture the public vote as right now even I hadn't been supporting her I would be now on the basis of body popping bolero alone.

At the moment I would rather see Beth's and Lukes Bolero's on Sunday night rather than Matts.

The whole point of the Bolero is that it's a flowing, cohesive, continuous piece so they've either got to do it all street or not at all .... to do it part balletic then just throw in some break dancing/body popping moves will just be naff

I can't decide whether DOI has run its course or whether this year's contestants are an unispiring group. I just don't feel the same way about it this year, it just feels like the same tired format.

I know what you mean but can't help wondering if the lack lustre performances are down to the fact they have had to split the training time between their number, the opening sequence and the dance off.

Well personally hope we don't have to endure Matts body popping Bolero as IMO it is completely going away from the concept of what Bolero is meant to be so I still hope Beth well and truly wipes the ice with both of the boys.

I hope all perform the best they ever have, everything goes to plan an more importantly they have fun!

But where I work, T&D's comments on Beth will be a kiss of death for any potential employee as they really mean she lacks initiative and flair. And any trainee/intern who's assessed as "a huge talent" like Matt will be on the fast track to being a VP.

Even if that happens would it be enough? Voting will open before either of them performs the Bolero, in truth you're not really voting based on whose Bolero is the best, which has always been a major flaw in the final show.

For the record I want Matt to win, but it seems unfair if the person who does the better Bolero doesn't reap the rewards due to the voting system!

Yet the acting roles offered to this 'huge talent' since leaving Eastenders have been conspicuous by their very absence.
