Multiple iPhones on one laptop
Hi. A few members of my family recently got new iPhones. We only have the one laptop in the house and as I have always been able to set up multiple ipods on one laptop (with different libraries) I thought this wouldn't be a problem.
I don't have any problem with this but my only question is how? Without wiping my own phone data? I tried to set one of them up in a new iTunes library but it recognised the new iPhone as mine as in 'Goingtothebeach's iPhone'. Any help? Also I've managed to get one set up (although obviously I still need it connected to an iTunes) but it says no service and it says 'My Number' is 'Unknown'. |

Have you tried going into each of the phones under Settings>General>About>Name and changing each one from the generic iPhone to something specific?

So now my only other question is the 'No Service'? Does it typically take some time for a new iPhone to find a service? |

Worst case - If any phone gets reported as stolen (or lost!) the networks can add its IMEI number to a UK-wide list of barred devices which are not allowed to connect. |

Best case - you need a new SIM card as the one in it has been disabled by its network (for example at end of contract or its phone number has been ported to another network)

It's a brand new SIM. It came in the package with the iPhone.
![]() When I turned a new iPhone on recently there was an activation stage (which is done with Apple to get the phone working) and then the phone acquired the network - my SIM was obviously all setup before it was sent out. |

Tried setting up the other one and no problem!
I've just realised that what happened was that during the set-up of the first one I lost my internet connection and it never activated. So.... how do you reset a phone to the point where you have to go through the entire set-up process again? |

Update. Restored that phone to factory settings and went through the whole set-up process including activation and nothing.
No Service.

Worth speaking to the service provider then. May be a faulty sim or the service isn't fully activated at their end.
