I just got this box and not been used all for £7 . It has 3.5 S/W and made 2011. i have read 3.5 is a stable one. I know there is 5.2 which is better with added info text. But hear that there is a CBVS problem. So i will not update as i have an old sony CRT which is better with CBVS.

Anyway back to my Favourite list problem. I have selected my favourites and put on favourite list option but when going up and down the Fav`s, the list on screen still shows other channels. If i go into guide it is the same. But if i press the ok on a channel and get rid of unwanted channels it show the Favourites and no other. ( Weird )

Bargain . I have to assume this is the intended behaviour for the favourites feature, although obviously it is far from desirable. The same happens with 5.2, and really the only real time that favourites are used is when pressing the P+/P- buttons to change channel as those do skip non-favourites when favourites is on. I've lost track now, but I think some really early versions did have the more familiar logical behaviour that the older models had.

Anyway, the best thing to do is delete any channels that you will never be viewing or recording, as this will improve overall performance, rather than hide them using favourites (if it were to work properly).

You're right in thinking that it may be best to skip the 5.2 update because of the CVBS issue, although if your TV has a SCART socket with no RGB support (usually only the first one has), then it makes no difference if you plug the T835 into that socket. I'm not entirely sure, but 3.5 may even have this same bug which is in 5.2 too (3.4 does not).

As the 3.5 S/W has the CVBS reverting back RGB bug. So I`ll just have to put up with it and toggle back to CVBS settings everytime i switch on. My single scart on my tv does not support RGB? as in the digibox rgb setting the picture is dull looking and not sharp.

Does the TV provide any kind of status information on the input type when you toggle between CVBS and RGB on the T835? Some TVs indicate this, some don't. Just wondering if it support S-Video instead of RGB, or maybe it is one of the TVs that accepts RGB, but converts it internally to an intermediate format before converting it back to RGB for display, which will degrade the quality.

The "simple" solution would be to disconnect pin 16 from one end of the SCART cable (this is the pin that tells the TV not to use the CVBS signal, and use RGB instead). There may be other solutions, with switch boxes, etc, which are more elegant removing the need to mess with the SCART wiring. Can't seem to find any on ebay, but I'm sure I used to have one which had a RGB push button on it.

Yes it has S-Video in at the front of tv. But will keep with CVBS.

I read that all CRT TV do not support RGB.

I have do more research on RGB input on CRT. Apparently i am wrong.

Some TVs do S-Video over SCART, which uses the same pins as the RGB pins, so I was wondering whether your TV is expecting S-Video over SCART opposed to RGB. Or it may be, as I mentioned before, that RGB is converted unnecessarily by your TV, causing degradation. What's the make and model of your TV?

Certainly, many CRT TVs do RGB on SCART. All the ones that I've owned in the past have, but usually those with more than one SCART socket just handle RGB on one of the sockets.

I have a Sony KV21X4U. I bought it 1998 and only repaired once with dry joints also scarts and s-video connections resoldered.

Aha... a Sony Trinitron. Surprised to hear that RGB doesn't look good, as I've owned a couple of Trinitrons, albeit 14" models, one older than yours and one from round about the same time, and RGB always looked much better on them. Tried googling your model for RGB issues, but didn't really find anything . If you're happy with CVBS, then it's probably just easiest to remove pin 16 from one end of the SCART lead. Then you'll always get CVBS without having to fiddle with the setting on the Luxor.

I'm sure there must be some simple SCART adaptor to accomplish the same if you're not wanting to damage a SCART cable (usually with the casing removed, you can use pliers to bend the catches on pin and push it into the plug, so you could reinstall the pin later). Actually, IIRC, some of the cheaper switching units do not switch RGB at all, so are CVBS only.

I don`t know why RGB it not great on my tv. I went into the service menu and resetted to factory condition and geometry by typing in TT24 and TT08. But still not great. I will remove the pin 16 as you sugguested

I cut the 16 pin and this does not work. The picture has a green tint. The T835 is the problem defaulting back RGB and i doubt there be a update !

Silly me cut the wrong pin and now cut the right one on another scart and now works !
