I don't think it was anything like his best effort. Alvin Lee was way OTT with his Woodstock performance. Undead (TYA's live second album) was a good example of how great they could be when they still played the small clubs. Very sad to hear of Alvin Lee's passing.

'love like a man'.... great track...
erm... from that link "The band, who had eight Top 40 albums in the UK, had their biggest hit in 1971 with I'd Love To Change the World" thats wrong, love like a man was their only top 40 single in 1970. |

Not surprising there are not many comments here sadly...I can't claim to be a massive fan or anything either but it was apparent yesterday over on Facebook, just how many people were saddened by his death. I had a radio show last night and was able to play something from his last studio album, Still On The Road To Freedom, which was a pretty cool release.

While TYA's frenzied I'm Going Home Woodstock performance wasn't really indicative of their stage show [ it was usually the last song ] it does give a good idea of Alvin's nimble and melodic guitar style.
Sad news indeed. |
