Lovefilm changing log in

why oh why don't they just leave it as it is?

Quote:
“You may have recently seen a few changes we've made on the LOVEFiLM website Sign-in pages, including an option to sign in with Amazon details.

You might not have used this new option yet, but you may have wondered what it's all about.

We'll soon be giving you the ability to "switch" your log-in details, and we wanted to let you know about this in advance.

What is "Switching"?

Switching just means we're asking you to change how you log in to LOVEFiLM. Don't panic, all that's required is a quick switch from your current details to Amazon account details instead.

This is because LOVEFiLM is now an Amazon company, and we're streamlining our systems and services.

You'll need to switch details to continue using LOVEFiLM - it means you'll have one less password to remember, of course, and one less set of account details to manage.

Don't worry...

You don't need to do anything yet. When the time comes we'll take you through it step by step when you log in as normal on the website.

It's very quick and easy, and it will all happen on a secure website server, so your personal data will remain completely safe. You should NEVER send any log-in details via email, of course (and we will never ask you to).

Your package and payments will remain the same; and your Rental list, Watchlist, and your viewing history will all still be available after you've switched your account, just as before. If you don't already have an Amazon account, you can easily create one when you switch.

We'll make sure the whole process is simple and straightforward.

Keep an eye out for more news on these changes in the coming weeks.”

I don't want to link lovefilm with my Amazon account. i be getting emails from Amazon saying that I rented such a such from Lovefilm and that I can buy it at Amazon for what ever price.

Oh well, I been looking at getting rid of Lovefilm, maybe now is the time.

Why not wait until you see problems that won't go away. For a start, I believe there are EU regulations that require all companies to offer a way to stop sending you email. So, the one point you make against the service should be avoidable.

I know you can stop the Emails, I done that with Amazon itself, I got fed up of the we recommend crap. but linking the two accounts I will still get that crap on amazon itself,

Welcome to Amazon, we saw you watched starwars on lovefilm, we recommend starwars action figures.

i only have two disks a month anyway. i suppose I could open a different account for it.

A reply from Lovefilm

Quote:
“Thank you for getting back to us regarding the merging of Amazon and
LOVEFiLM accounts, and please accept my sincere apologies for any
concern or confusion caused by this matter.

Please understand, LOVEFiLM has been an Amazon-owned company since
January 2011 but has still been operating somewhat independently of
Amazon's core business. The merging of Amazon and LOVEFiLM accounts is
designed in hope of streamlining the LOVEFiLM service, and incorporate
it more fully into the Amazon fold. By having a single Amazon Identity
it will allow a smoother transition over to a centralised Amazon
Database. This means we will benefit from a higher level of security as
all customer details will be stored on the Amazon Database rather than
across two databases.

I can assure you that, even though your log in details will eventually
be merged with Amazon, your LOVEFiLM and Amazon account will still
remain separate. This means that if you are logged in to your LOVEFiLM
account, you will not be able to access any details specifically
relating to your Amazon account. This is a move designed to make the
service easier for customers, minimising the amount of log in details
they require. I understand your concerns regarding this change, however
this merge in details will be a requirement and when this is implemented
the only way to log in will be to use your Amazon details.

I hope this helps to clarify the reasons for this change, however should
you have any further queries or require any additional assistance then
please do not hesitate to contact us.”

I think I know that Lovefilm have been part of Amazon for a while, since when I log in we keep getting a Amazon company

as I said maybe it is the right time to stop using lovefilm, while the package I get is cheaper than what new customers have to pay for the same thing as I been with Lovefilm for a while now, started when Sainsburys was using them.

Most of the time Netflix does what I want, I only kept lovefilm on for the blu-ray and some stuff I can not get from Netflix.

We will see.
