The future of metal music?

http://www.mtv.com/news/1884463/girl...g-heavy-metal/

It is great seeing young girls take an interest in metal music and there is definitely some potential there. Metal is undoubtedly a male dominated genre but it is slowly changing and that is good. Women have a lot to bring to the metal table.

Unfortunately could be a flash in the pan Girlschool were the trialblazers but did not spark a massive female genre in Heavy Rock sadly.

And they were around and still are for a few decades well about three.

A Finnish newcomer to old school metal, with some thrashy influences.

Malcolm Young's illness has been confirmed...

Malcolm Young dementia is confirmed

Very sad news.

Whilst I'll get the new album, Rock Or Bust, I don't think I'll be bothering with the tour.

Awful disease, dementia. Malcolm Young and his family have my sympathy.

I'll be getting the album and going to see them again (if they make it to Ireland). It won't be the same without Malcolm's legendary riffing but they will still put on a great show.

I saw them on the last tour @ LG Arena in Birmingham and they were brilliant, best they've been for a long time and that's how I prefer to remember them.

I'll go and see them. I suspect it'll be their last ever tour.
They'll certainly not be writing any new music after "Rock Or Bust".

I've seen them many times before and I'm pretty sure I've seen them with Stevie instead of Malcolm before.

I certainly would not write them off just yet as a "Last ever Tour"

Many a last ever tourer are still on the road.

From comments both Angus Young and Brian Johnson have made in the last couple of years I don't expect them to be doing many more tours.

Neither do i but the WHO announced their last ever world tour in 1982 but have been on the road ever since including world tours.

Like the one they are undertaking this Autumn.

The music is just too good too never get played live again.

Before the Black Ice tour Angus said there is no way he will be running around on stage dressed as a schoolboy when he's drawing his pension.

I guess you could argue the main female input in the genre is through Symphonic Metal which, whilst not particularly popular here in the UK apart from maybe Nightwish and Within Temptation, is huge in Europe.

I saw The Subways last night and one of the support bands, Bleech, had a female guitarist and bassist as, of course, do The Subways with Charlotte Cooper on bass.

It's quintessentially ACDC. They have never claimed to be about anything else other than in your face, bullshit free rock n roll. The have stayed true to what they are about. That is why people love them.

The Judas Priest album is really rather good. I bought the Tesla one but haven't had the chance to give it a proper listen yet.
I've finally taken delivery of both.
I've done the Priest CD, and am 6 songs through Tesla.

The Priest one's good, but in my view, there are better riffs on the Tesla one so far!

I got the deluxe Priest CD, which comes with a 5 track bonus CD.
They say 'bonus', I say 'songs that were deemed not strong enough to make the actual CD'. The bonus cuts are far more anthemic and less brutal than what's on the main CD.

I finished the Tesla CD. Nothing groundbreaking, it sounds like Tesla.
A fine balance of light and shade. Some detuned chunky workouts that wouldn't sound out of place on a Black Stone Cherry CD, some quieter, acoustic moments and some 'classic' Tesla songwriting.
