And now something slightly different - Scottish Pirate Metal!

Don't think these guys take themselves too seriously, and for some reason they remind me of Tenpole Tudor.

Alestorm - Shipwrecked

Alestorm - Keelhauled

Alestorm - Death Throes of the Terrorsquid
I love Alestorm - they're one of the few newer bands that I like, as my normal favorites are 70's/80's classic hard rock/metal like AC/DC, Maiden, Priest, Sabbath, Motorhead, Rainbow, UFO, Praying Mantis, Alice Cooper and am also a big fan of German rock/metal acts like Accept, Doro, U,D,O., Running Wild, Pink Cream 69, Blind Guardian, Scorpions.

Did you find any suitable Irish metal?
One called Cruachan, they did some good stuff when they had a female vocalist, but the later stuff when she left was all growling vocals, which as you know is not my bag

They were surprisingly entertaining, i would probably enjoy it more after a few pints (in a pewter tankard)

I must admit, I don't really 'get' Doro. Most of what I've heard seems a bit 'Bonnie Tyler does metal' to me. I have to thank her for writing Fur Immer though, even though the original doesn't do much for me.

They are playing the Von Hertzen Brothers right now on Planet Rock.
I'm liking it.

Lita Ford? Now there's a name I haven't heard in many years. I saw The Runaways live. They were pretty damn good

That's proper, good old-fashioned, blues based metal, isn't it? I thought the nwobhm had swept all that away. Haven't heard anything like that for years. Nothing that wasn't made in the 70s anyway.

The third track's my favourite btw.

Sorry to barge in but have just been watching Kyuss Live 1995 and felt the desert boys deserved posting in here.

I could always take or leave John's vocals, but my God! What a gorgeous groovy racket! Josh Homme looks about twelve as well, aww!

Sorry, just a racket to me You weren't kidding about the vocals, Dreadful.

Still, it would be a boring old world if we all liked the same things, wouldn't it?

Well, you like them & that's all that matters really, isn't it?

What genre is that btw? I thought it was the sound check at first. They all look like roadies

I love Kyuss. I don't mind John Garcia's vocals, but their music was the really special bit. It's like the desert on record.

LOL! I can tell you think a lot if them! They seem to get called 'stoner rock' mostly. Maybe if you have a wee spliff you'll magically be converted, though perhaps not!

Yay! I found one! Yes, the riffs and the bass are great, really heavy grooves. 'The desert on record' is a great description of them. And John's not the worst, but I do find his voice pretty grating at times, thankfully I love the music so much it doesn't really matter.

Oh behave yourself, or I'll post another Sabaton. Then you'll be sorry

I have my fingers posed over their cover of Doro's Fur Immer as I speak

I'm glad you started this thread too. It's the most fun I've ever had in the music forum

I just heard about a band that my friend from poland shared with me. They are called Squid Lickers and to be honest, I believe that with the right support they might get somewhere. What do you think rockers?
