I'm liking it.”

The Von Hertzen Brothers are brilliant. I saw them @ High Voltage a couple of years ago and I've got most of their albums. Their latest album, Nine lives, from which Flowers and Rust is taken, came out on Monday and is highly recommended.

They are huge in their own country, Finland, where they get as much coverage in the mainstream media as a "manufactured vocal group" would in this country.

Lita Ford? Now there's a name I haven't heard in many years. I saw The Runaways live. They were pretty damn good ”

I saw Doro on her tour last year and she is still a fine looking woman.

You can't go far wrong with Clutch. Here's a few from their back catalogue.

Burning Beard

Electric Worry

Mr. Shiny Cadillackness

I've picked up Earth Rocker yet, but it's on my list. I'm waiting on some old Scorpions CDs at the moment (replacing tapes) -

Another Piece of Meat

Falling in Love

Blackout

Right, just listened to this lot.

Suicidal Tendencies - just get on with it ffs.

Pearl Jam - Needs pruning by 90 secs. Dull but ends well.

Gaye Bykers- Now you're talking. Really liked this one

Thanks for those. I'm not sure I could listen to too much Clutch all in one go though.

Scorpions were never really my thing tbh.

Absolutely loved the first track. Hit most of the right buttons for me. Nordic - check. Power Metal - check. Speed Metal pace - check. No Dungeons & Dragons bollox - check Yep, that'll do nicely

Second one - not so enthusiastic. Not bad but a bit generic.

Third one - too 'pop' really. No thanks

Last one - I wanted to like it but it kept threatening to turn into Fear Of The Dark, which sort of put me off.

Thanks for introducing me to Sonata Arctica though. I think I'll be checking out more of their stuff

Yes, that was a horrible & tragic case I'm sure there was a fairly lengthy thread about it in our GD forum at the time. I'm not surprised you worry about your son. How old is he?

KYUSS !!

It's great to see that Kyuss and other Stoner/doom bands are getting a mention on this forum. I personally love that murky and rough 70's sound and it's great that some newer bands are embracing that particular sound.

A few bands that I live by:

Sleep - Dragonaut

Orchid - No one makes a sound

Graveyard - Hisingen Blues

I really did. Can't see them replacing my beloved Sabaton but they could well take their place among my other Nordic favourites - Korpiklaani, Turisas, Amon Amarth etc

There's obviously something in the water up there,

Sounds awful Makes me feel really fortunate not to live among people like that. I've never understood why some people have such a problem with those who are different to themselves.

Yes, I like that one too. Not sure why you thought I wouldn't go for them. I thought I'd mentioned I'm an aging (old ) punk. They sound like the stuff I was into around 1977

I just poked my head out the door to look at the rest of the forum. Have you seen all the Westlife threads?

I'm staying put. Someone tell me when it's safe to go out again

I'm in the same boat. At least you get to go to gigs though. I haven't been to one in over two years
