Nice to see Blackberry Smoke on ...Later with Jools Holland last night!

Great band. Discovered them quite recently. The Whippoorwill is fantastic, and they've got some super tracks on their other albums as well.

Just found out their new album comes out this week. So over the next two months I'll be buying albums by Blackberry Smoke, The Pretty Reckless, Green Day and Metallica!

Friday was a damn good day for album releases.

Alter Bridge's "The Last Hero", Green Day's "Revolution Radio" and Sum 41's "13 Voices".

"The Last Hero" being an album full of great riffs, a few "meh" tracks, but some absolute stormers which I'm sure will feel right at home in an arena setting.

"Revolution Radio" being a glorious throwback to "American Idiot-era Green Day" and featuring some genuinely well written pop punk songs and quite a few songs reflecting today's culture.

And "13 Voices" basically being everything "Revolution Radio" is, just on steroids, this album was written after Sum 41's frontman nearly tore his band apart and died from drug overdose and alcohol poisoning, and this album was written with a lot of those experiences in mind, and as such it's one of the "punchiest" and raw pop punk albums in years. Also got some great hard rocking riffs on it.

Would highly recommend all 3 albums.

It's a shame that some of the biggest and best bands in world music are sidelined in a general Rock and Metal thread, while throwaway mediocre artists seem to get lots of replies on their own threads on here!

I am about to go and get listening to the Alter Bridge, Green Day and Sum 41 albums on Spotify, I am not rich enough to go and buy them all sadly but if any hit the spot, I will certainly be trying to buy what I can!

I also have now been through the new Feeder album, some absolutely storming tracks on that one, I'd recommend it to anyone.

Planet Rock have been playing both Blackberry Smoke and The Pretty Reckless quite a lot recently and i've been impressed with what I've heard from both.

Looking forward to getting the new Alter Bridge album as well.

I'm going to see Joanne in Bristol next Sunday, I'm seeing Stream of Passion first, though, on Friday!!

I've not heard it yet but all of the reviews I read have said it is superb.

Well The Pretty Reckless were Ok last night. Not the best gig I've been to but it was enjoyable. They did a 1hr 5min set which I thought was a bit short, but apart from the 2 new singles that they have released they didn't play anything else that is new as they said the album isn't out yet which I thought was a little disappointing as other bands will play brand new unreleased tracks.

Now onto the venue, it was my first trip to Scala and that might be my last. Far to small and there are not many decent viewing spots if you don't get there early so everyone was cramped and I could just about see the stage through a gap.

Also doors opened at 7:30 and I got there at 8:10 and the queue went around the block and down an alley. Took 35 minutes to get in as they only have one door way and were doing full body searches

Take this with a MASSIVE pinch of salt as it's part guess work, part word-of-mouth and part respectable source, BUT:

A source "in the know" has let slip that Guns 'N' Roses are due to play Stade de France on July 8th.

This places them in Europe and may have them playing Wembley Stadium (or the Olympic Stadium?) on July 1st.

The reason I think it'll be July 1st specifically is because British Summer Time announced last week that Green Day will be headlining their festival on that day, but they don't normally announce bands until very late November, early December.

So I'm thinking the reason they bumped up the announcement to last week (before any other festival has announced anything) is so they can compete with an imminent GNR EU/UK tour announcement.

Hopefully we'll see some GNR dates in the not-too-distant future.

You know the saying 'Never meet your hero'. That pretty much sums up seeing G 'N' R live.

Perhaps it did between 2010-2014, but having seen Axl with 'DC back in June I have no doubt it in my mind he's back on fine form, plus Slash and Duff rarely set a foot wrong, so I'm sure it'll be a grand time.

Hmmm that's funny, all the professional and personal reviews I've seen for the reunited line-up have been absolutely glowing.

They are my favourite band so I admit I'm biased but the whole tour has gone without a hitch. It's clear that the guys are glued together and on their best behaviour - whether it is a genuine bond or the millions of dollars they are earning behind that is a different debate

Oh aye I know there's definitely a date coming, but I suspect it could be officially announced in the next 2-3 weeks.

I do understand what 'Rocketpop' means, though.

I saw G 'n' R in 1988 @ Monsters of Rock and when they played at the Freddie Mercury Tribute concert in 1992 and I'll be giving them a miss if they tour next year.

Van Halen would be the same if they were to tour as I saw them in 1984.

Although I fully understand why people would want to go and see them.

I've only listened to it a couple of times so far, but the new Opeth album, Sorceress is superb!

It's probably their heaviest record since Watershed but as with the last couple of albums, Pale Communication and Heritage, only 'clean' vocals.

No idea about that time frame. I saw them at Milton Keynes in the early 90's - second worst concert (purely based on headliners*) I've ever been to, and I say this as a big fan at the time.

*Blind Melon were really great as one of the support acts.

I went to that one, I recall someone (a fan) died during their set by slam dancing on his head and the delay seemed to go on for ages. Most inconsiderate of them

Off to see Steel Panthers this Saturday at Wembley Arena. Third time for me seeing them, and always had a great time.

I saw G'n'R in 1992, one of my favourite concerts. They were on top form (despite being 2 hours late on stage)

A little bit disappointing tbh, they seem to have lost their own unique stamp, although I still think M. Shadows is a great vocalist.
