As far as hard rock goes listen to this (a bit of a departure from their old trip hoppy / rock sound) >>> Paatos - Feel
other recent tracks that has caught my ear in the hard rock / metal sphere >>> Borknagar - The Beauty of dead Cities Deftones - Graphic Nature Devin Townsend Project - More! (Epicloud) RIVERSIDE - Celebrity Touch (OFFICIAL VIDEO) I got in to Riverside when Classic Rock included one of their tracks on one of their free CDs and I think they are brilliant. Funnily enough I saw them last Sunday in Leamington Spa!

Does anyone know of any decent Metal forums where I'm not going to get black metal poseurs sneering at me for liking power/folk/melodeath?
The rest of the DS music forum depresses me no end. I mean, Girls Aloud....legacy? Wtf? |

The Von Hertzen Brothers are brilliant. I saw them @ High Voltage a couple of years ago and I've got most of their albums. Their latest album, Nine lives, from which Flowers and Rust is taken, came out on Monday and is highly recommended.
They are huge in their own country, Finland, where they get as much coverage in the mainstream media as a "manufactured vocal group" would in this country. I have been listening to the latest album and loving that very much, especially the Flowers track. Have they toured in UK I would love to see them live? |

Hardcore/metal forums are some of the worst. Don't go on the Download forum.
![]() Bloodstock's a bit better but still full of metal snobs. When did metal get so po faced? It seems that if you're not growling/screaming whilst posing about in corpse paint & doing songs about genital mutilation, then you're 'not metal' or not metal enough. I'm like 'F*ck off. You haven't just crawled out of a grave or from the pits of hell. You're just some tw*t from Sheffield (or wherever)' @ the bands, not fans.

It took me a couple of years to be able to appreciate harsh vocals, although I think it was because I expected all the bands to sound like screamo, which of course they don't. Eluveitie converted me.
Not madly heavy, but it's got that vibe. Jonne's vocals aren't always growly and harsh and he joiks beautifully in some tracks https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OIc4VHxU7iM Also some spellbinding accoustic folk metal (if that's possible) from Finntroll on Visor om slutet |

We dressed him up like Richard. He was quite a star for the night and had his pic taken with various people dressed in uniforms and bondage gear.

Like that too. Reminds me of Sabaton's Gott Mit Uns in parts. And yes, what's not to love about Rasputin? It's a great, fun cover isn't it? I'm sure I posted it earlier in the thread. It always bears a repeat listening though

Love Korpiklaani. I've already posted a couple of their tracks in this thread. I think I'll post another. Their very wonderful version of Ievan Polkka
This is the song that got me listening to metal again ![]() Where did you see Korpiklaani? I couldn't see any British tour dates on their site ![]() They did Glasgow, Dublin, Norwich and Manchester too. I like the Basshunter version of Leva's Polka too

Camden Underworld in early February.
They did Glasgow, Dublin, Norwich and Manchester too. The Nordic bands don't seem to know we exist. ![]() Quote:
I like the Basshunter version of Leva's Polka too I didn't know he'd done one. Will have to give it a whirl.

Any fans of Halestorm here? Love Izzy Hale's voice and the new album has some immense riffs.

Woah, I didn't know they were. Has Ozzy still got a voice? I don't see why they shouldn't make a new album if he has. Like you, I'd have to hear it first before deciding whether or not to buy.

Well i have watched a few videos from download last year and he sounded ok, in the studio they can clean bits up, he was never the greatest singer to be fair, just had that certain something that drew you in (like most singers i like)

Yes, I know what you mean. It's that 'something' you can't quite put your finger on that draws you in. I believe it used to be called the X factor, lol.
