Well I've paused live Hypocrisy in order to listen to it.
Yes, it's not bad, is it? You can hear the origins of what he was going to do later. That's actually rather interesting. He looked bloody ridiculous though ![]() |

not really, but i think a lot of younger metal fans seem to think that if it aint metal it aint good, i love loads of stuff that aint metal related at all, billy joel being one. They dont seem to realise that their fav bands also listen to stuff outside of their genre. I mean i like Portishead, Bjork (early stuff), R.E.M and if you read band blogs they like diff stuff.

I've noticed that, too. It's ridiculous that some of these people claim that if you listen to anything non-metal then you lose any status as a metal fan, despite most bands having plenty of non-metal influence.
A lot of metal fans are so bloody po faced about it though, aren't they? It annoys me. |

I would imagine many, if not most, metal band members probably listen to & like plenty of stuff that isn't metal.

Then my metal clothes wearing friends were the worst for moaning about being shouted at for looking like 'goths', it was about 'personal expression', then in the next breath, slag off some charver for their dress Thugh on the other foot, people who arnt into metal can be just as bad, making all sort of assumptions. I go to metal and rock shows and festivals, the folk at work think I headbang and don't wash for 5 days when I'm at a festival and that everything I sister to is just noise - every cliche going. It stops short of being known as a devil worshipper, they're not THAT stupid fortunately

Just saw this.

People can get so snobby about music and metal (and proper 'non-commercial dance) is certainly a rank factor. If you dont wear the right clothes up you can be frowned upon. I used to go up to Newcastle to go to the Mayfair, and often meet inTrillians. I dont wear a metal 'uniform' and when I went upstairs and out to make a mobile call the bouncers were asking 'shouldn't I be at home watching pop idol or something' Then my metal clothes wearing friends were the worst for moaning about being shouted at for looking like 'goths', it was about 'personal expression', then in the next breath, slag off some charver for their dress Thugh on the other foot, people who arnt into metal can be just as bad, making all sort of assumptions. I'm so out of the loop now though. Is there anything between Pub & The Academy in Newcastle now?I used to go in Trillions too. In fact, I used to go before it was called that Can't remember its old name though. God, I'm getting old

![]() ![]() Right, I know I'm very late to the party here but I've been checking out Avantasia & wondering what other people on here make of them. Avantasia Twisted Mind-Live DVD On paper, this should be hitting all the right buttons for me. He's got a great voice, they're all fantastic musicians, it's the right genre. So why am I sitting here staring blankly at the screen?

Tobias Sammett's work is greatly appreciated by me.
Avantasia released a new video the other day. Although it's not quite a metal song, it should complement the heavier songs on the album well, as his ballads tend to. Avantasia - Sleepwalking |

Sorry, that does nothing for me. I'm a bit disappointed because I feel I should be really liking them but it's just not happening. I think I actually have a problem with Sammet himself.

Another of my particula favourites, sounds so good loud, and the video suits the song so much Audioslave – Show Me How To Live

Still staring blankly at the screen. I'm just not getting it. I know they're good musicians. Technically, he's a great singer ( and good looking with it). Yet still.....nothing. No emotional response at all.
Thanks for the links though. ![]() |

There are always going to be bands that are difficult for a individual to connect with, no matte how hard they try.

I guess you're right. I'm disappointed because I was looking for an excuse to get a day ticket for Bloodstock. Avantasia are on straight after Sabaton. It's just not worth the hassle getting there for one band. I was hoping to find something else on that day that I'd like.

I tend to be more interested in Wacken, but I often like the Bloodstock line-up.
Been sold out for ages though not surprising when you see the lineup http://www.wacken.com/en/woa2013/mai.../billing-2013/

I'd love to go to Wacken. It would probably be easier to get to than sodding Derbyshire too
