Do you have the new Tomahawk CD? I've not picked it up so far. I loved the first one, the second had it's moments, and I never bothered with Anonymous. It's not really hard rock, but I always thought this was pretty intense on head phones (particularly the end).
Mr. Bungle - The Bends http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=auf2kXy8P94 Mr Bungle's The Bends. What a track. That end bit you speak of, i've always had this thought of a guy breaking into a house, and instead of calling the cops, just play that end part at full volume.

Ooh this thread looks promising!
I've been getting back in to Kyuss recently, 50 Million Year Trip and Freedom Run are particularly immense! Great to see Mike Patton's stuff getting a mention here. I love the new Tomahawk album, fave one off it at the mo is probably the opening track: Oddfellows. |

It happens in Finland and Germany, too. It's common to find metal bands in their album charts, and sometimes there's a breakthrough into their singles charts.
Remember when the UK used to have the coolest music scene in Europe? What happened? When did we get stuck in this endless cycle of MOR/Easy listening/kiddie pop? ![]() It's embarrassing

Rock probably gets airplay in those countries.

I like all kinds of music but I usually say that rock/metal is my favourite genre. No other type of music allows you to unleash such raw emotion, whether it's euphoria or rage. I especially like it because the lyrics can be deep and meaningful or just an excuse to have a good scream at the world, yet the music is still powerful.
Two tracks I usually rely on are: Sepultura 'Roots Bloody Roots' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_6IjeprfEs Soil 'Halo' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFc-2aNZ6VY I also have fond memories of seeing metal bands live and headbanging so much that my neck is sore the next day. Good times.

Yep, I remember when I first got into metal/hard rock in the late 70's/early 80's groups like AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Rainbow, Judas Priest, Motorhead etc were regulars in the charts and on Top of the Pops and I still have many of their singles and picture discs.
When the actual f*ck did that happen? It's enough to drive you to drink. I'm having a large VODKA! *dances like a loon* ![]() I think I'll follow it up with a shot of Tequila *bounces round room like an idiot* ![]() ![]() ![]() I guess i'm just a Happy Little Boozer

Been listening to this quite a bit recently:
Amaranthe - The Nexus And have enjoyed a lot of the Scandinavian melodic metal over the last few years, such as this sort of thing: Kamelot - The Great Pandemonium Evergrey - A Touch of Blessing |

Stinkfist by Tool and Jerry Was A Racecar Driver by Primus are both sounding particularly good after a few shandies!

You know what, Slipknot is one of those bands who have been around forever, yet I've never once checked them out. That's the first time I've actually heard them. I doubt I'll be doing it again. Sorry.
