I just posted THIS in the 'strangest cover songs' thread & it just occurred to me...even Finland has better music than we do. Finland!
When the actual f*ck did that happen? It's enough to drive you to drink. I'm having a large VODKA! *dances like a loon* ![]() I think I'll follow it up with a shot of Tequila *bounces round room like an idiot* ![]() ![]() ![]() I guess i'm just a Happy Little Boozer ![]() ![]() I'm only young, so I only became interested in music in the mid-2000s, and Finland has always been one of my favourite musical countries (not just for rock & metal, either, although being my favourite genres definitely helps Finland's prestige). Been listening to this quite a bit recently:
Amaranthe - The Nexus And have enjoyed a lot of the Scandinavian melodic metal over the last few years, such as this sort of thing: Kamelot - The Great Pandemonium Evergrey - A Touch of Blessing I'm a big fan of Kamelot. |

no one has mentioned Slipknot yet, they are one of my favourite bands, seen them twice and both times they were fantastic.
Everything Ends http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBeF6Bcn0Yw Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses is one of my favourite albums ever. Infact they seem to get more mature with every album. Though what's interesting is that my favourite song of their's is either 'Danger - Keep Away' or 'Til We Die', two of their softer ones. Maybe because Corey's voice is really amazing and versatile. Danger - Keep Away http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=80P3wRY5h6g Til We Die http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agIXjQ2Q7eE But keeping in theme with my previous post, the Slipknot song I most rely on to really let my hair down is - This Cold Black http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMNFK1T5gUc or maybe the song they won a Grammy for- Before I Forget http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_09wFxoaeQ |

I remember Channel 4 years ago used to have a show on a friday at about 6pm called 'The Chart Show' and every two weeks they did a rundown of the Top 10 Rock Songs, at the time i think the number ones were stuff like Kiss - Crazy Nights, Whitesnake etc, but they played about 10 secs of Slayers - Criminally Insane, i had never been excited in my life. i was easily pleased back then

Chek this one out, will surprise you http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LXEKuttVRIo
Does it have shit vocals & lyrics that sound like they were written by a petulant teenager? I had to listen to the whole Carolus Rex album in Swedish to cleanse my brain after your last offering, lol ![]() ETA - Well, he can sing, so what's with that nonsense before? Lyrics still a bit whiny. Music's a bit 'soft rock' for me, although it's building up nicely towards the end. Oh, now it's going all Linkin Park on me. much better than the last one but not really my thing. the spoken part's a bit wanky. |

Mine too, right from their first album. I've seen them live twice aswell and agree they are great.

I don't think this band's for me. |

I like 'Till We Die'
![]() Haven't heard anything else of theirs that would draw me in though. I don't think this band's for me. On another note, anyone like Marilyn Manson? (my personal favourite) Not really sure which track to put up as a taster because I think most people already have an opinion on him and his back catalogue is quite diverse with alot of baggage attached to it. I suppose the title track of his latest album (Born Villain), since alot of people think he's kind of disappeared in recent years. Though his transformation from young explosive showman to middle-aged tortured artist has only made him more interesting for me. Born Villain http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFpezIzNqWI |

Everything Ends http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBeF6Bcn0Yw The self-titled album is what got me into metal. It's still excellent and angry. |

Also, Dillinger Escape Plan, The Red Chord and Gallows are some of the best gigs I've ever been to.

I don't want to drag the thread down but I'd like to be serious for a moment.
I know I keep banging on about Sabaton but one of the reasons I love them is that they do stuff like this - Last week they were touring in Poland & the new band members visited Auschwitz. The original members visited a couple of years ago but couldn't face going again (too upsetting) but felt it was important for the new boys to go. This morning their Facebook page posted a short video of the visit, with the words "Always remember" http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=gbTIkxacNks The track playing over the video is their song The Final Solution & I make no apologies about posting it in it's entirety. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uz1ft...ctr=1362920342 Always remember ![]() And I'd just like to add that, in a political climate where we're being encouraged to think of the poor, the disabled, the sick and immigrants as a drain on our society, it's important to remember what can happen. Never again. |

I feel that Corey's new, more mainstream style got into Slipknot's blood a bit. That wasn't so good imo. But i will say i quite enjoyed Vol 3. I think that was their best work. But i was never a massive fan. They always seemed like a stepping stone for kids that just discovered heavy riffage. |

Now for something very special, that you could also get up and dance to, if you wish.
