I am quite a fan of Doug Aldrich so here is a song off the Burning Rain album, wouldn't be out of place in a strip club. You will notice Aldrich's distinctive style immediately.

Is anyone going to be checking out any of the gigs on the iTunes Festival, there are always a couple of bands each year I watch. I used to think each band only did about 45mins until I saw Foo Fighters on it a couple of years ago and they were on for over 2 and half hours. This year I will watch Paramore (nice pop rock), Queens of the Stone Age and of course Pixies. Anyone else watching any of it?

Probably should limit it to prog metal or heavy-ish prog rather than general prog. So, e.g., Dream Theater and perhaps newer bands, such as Touchstone, who have a mix of heavy and more general prog in their repertoire.

How many do you have to sell to be number 1 nowadays?

Actually it's not done on sales here, it's by shipping. Anyone can be no1 if their label sends out enough copies to retail outlets. |

Obviously the retail outlets won't accept more than they think they can sell. however long that may take. |

Sabaton - Rise Of Evil They seem to write a lot about war and I'm not sure if they are pro or anti. Sweden was a neutral state throughout the war. |

Northern Irish Symphonic Metal Band, Selene - Among the Frozen Trailer
Not sure about them but I'm surprised they even exist. Not much subtlety in that but I suppose that's power metal. They seem to write a lot about war and I'm not sure if they are pro or anti. Sweden was a neutral state throughout the war. You're expecting subtlety from a Metal track? They're not strictly Power anyway. They tend to get called Heavy/Power. Power is more high voiced with fantasy themes.Symphonic's not really my thing but that was ok. I'm not sure why such a band from N.Ireland shouldn't exist.

Broadly anti, although they recognise it's sometimes necessary. They're writing about it from a more historical perspective though. I feel I should also stress that they're anti nazi. (something they tend to get accused of by people who don't listen to the lyrics)

More lyrically than musically but Metallica can do it...'One' is a pretty strong anti-war song.
You want something more obviously anti war? Cliffs Of Gallipoli There is no enemy, There is no victory, only boys who lost their lives in the sand Or A Lifetime Of War (about the 30 years war) |
