Morpheus Rising

and tasters.

NWOBHM-style. Sound like a cross between Maiden and Priest.

Much-derided Kingdom Come (YouTube) but underrated IMO. Video is opening track of latest album.

Touchstone - Wintercoast epic with Jeremy Irons intro - from eponymous album.

Or the shorter Joker in the Pack from their Live in the USA album.

Well, I liked it! It would be boring if we all liked the same stuff.

Wouldn't it just. There's a pretty wide range of opinion on this thread but we seem to muddle along somehow

I'm trying out Morpheus Rising now but I'm afraid they're not really doing it for me. Sorry

Aww, don't cry *pats consolingly*. My tastes lie more on the European melodic Metal side of things

I rather enjoyed this one

And this riff has more than an air of ACDC about it

And of course the awesome ball breaking Black Spiders

I've heard very good things about their new album, due out in October.

They are touring the same month with Von Hertzen Brothers, I would highly recommend them as well!

Although I can understand why fols find him annoying, there's something about Lars Ulrich that I find endearing

Are we talking about the same person?

I think it's more a case that he seems like the uncool kid who always tried to be cool but could never get it right. And he's still trying, which is rather endearing

I can understand that's he's not classically handsome or even pretty but I've always found him cute. He reminds of Bono in some ways. Both rub people up the wrong and lack stature. Lars is 5 ft 5 1/2, Bono is 5 ft 6 1/2. They also have healthy egos, but they are in 2 of the biggest bands over the past 30 years, so at least they have a reason to big headed.

Anyway enough about them. Are we allowed to talk about gothic or death metal in this thread? Some heavy metal fans don't like death metal being mentioned in the same sentence as heavy rock.

This thread's mostly Metal. It's only recently that some hard rock's crept in.

Can't say I'm keen on Death, tbh. I do like Melodic Death though

Hypocrisy's about as Death as I'm prepared to go.

I have started to listen to Mike Portnoy's new group The Winery Dogs. It is a good album to listen to if you like rock. I listen to all rock/heavy metal including the classic Led Zepplin, Deep Purple, Genesis, Marillion, Bon Jovi, Europe to Iron Maiden, Alterbridge, Slash and his various bands, Joe Satriani, Mike Oldfield, Whitesnake to Megadeth, Dream Theater, Focus, Haken, Spock's Beard, Neal Morse, Flying colors, Metallica and a few other bands as well.

Agreed, The Winery Dogs album is fantastic, I second the recommendation.
